1:17:35 “American conservatives sharing the “good news” has nothing to do with sharing the Christian gospel but American culture wars”
    So true. The heartbreaking truth.

This is a MUST watch for anyone wanting to engage in conversation or even share thoughts on the situation in Uganda and how its homophobia is simply a part of the culture.

Exactly, making American Evangelicals the scapegoats for what's clearly established cultural norms as though they imported Homophobia is ridiculous. It just makes the Ugandan LGBTQ community look foolish and desperate to find neo colonialism!

This is scary as hell. The movie came out years ago, but Uganda is still under the sway of American evangelicals. Consider Uganda's present anti-gay laws (2023). This kind of thing, along with China's new colonization in that country, is horribly worrisome to me.

I would be worried more about the US than China, at least China isn't trying to colonise them but make plans that benefit both countries, economically speaking

You are not alone. My husband and I have been married for twenty-two years; if the Republicans win in November they will be coming for us next. For the sake of equal rights for ALL PERSONS, PLEASE vote BLUE on Election Day!

If you're a follower of Christ, well, he said nothing about being gay or not. He said follow the 10 commandments and everything else, the old Jewish laws, where you find the prohibition against being gay, are to be disregarded as he brought about a new covenant. He also said to bring his word to all peoples, which was definitely not a thing in Judaism, which is not an evangelical religion. He said love your enemies, again, not a thing before he came along. Why in the world are Christians bringing up stuff that Jesus himself said no longer applied if you followed him? If you're gonna be Orthodox Jewish, fine, but if you're gonna follow this new guy, hey how about paying attention to what he actually said?

Thank you! I've learned often in my Episcopal Church it said We take history and make it Spiritual, then turn around and do the opposite. Yes, it's true. Its sad. Money and power is still very toxic.

Exactly. Not once did Jesus say anything homosexuality.

Because according to Matthew, Jesus said the opposite. Most Christians have understood that the relationship between Mark and Q proves that Matthew and Lucas must be competing derivatives of the original gospels. But these people still believe in Matthew, where Jesus demands that you must always live strictly by Mosaic Law. That is why we refer to them as The Christian Taliban, because that is pretty literally what they are. Before Christians understood that it is Mark that is the most reliable of the gospels, Christians used to burn their daughters alive, not as a punishment, but purely as a way to scare out any demonic forces before they died so they would have the best chance of going to heaven. Most people believe it was a punishment, but it was actually seen as a gift of love. That is the ideology that these people believe in and it is extremely dangerous. But it is also wrong and anyone who is interested in learning why it is wrong, can easily do so.

@@drycoochie2146: Actually, The Gospel according to Matthew, does have that. It is in the Sermon on the Mount. It's 5:17-19. It's what we atheists refer to as the Taliban paragraph, because with those two sentences, you are suddenly supposed to live like the Taliban demands. Luckily, we know with absolute certainty that Matthew is a work of fiction, although it is inspired by Mark and Q.
