- I think gameplay has improved quite a bit, I think they should get rid of the whole stamina portion of the game as it really does hamper player movement and is inconsistent.

Just want to Let everyone know, I recommend not buying the game until all issues with the game are fixed. The Xbox version had not received a patch since the 1st patch in may. Here is a short list of things wrong with game. . 1. there is no diagonal movement in this game, 2.the automatic shot selections that it does for you at times. 3.The pre-serve ball bound animation that can't be skipped 4.the game speed(ball and Character), 5. exaggerated run to 1 side when you try to retrieve a wide shot , 6.frame drop glitch makes game look laggy. 7.Non-existent volley, 8.Character placement memory after first serve, 9.Online non-existent on Xbox, on PS4 it is horrendous.

No doubt about it. This game has improved. But there is still a long way to go. For me, the great thing about Tennis is it's so unpredictable, players come from all sorts of different backgrounds. Can play for club and country. Compete on beautiful surfaces and be themselves and unique on the court. For me, I get inspired by all the different players by the way they all move, hit their shots, the difference in their noises, personalities. Everything. There is none of that in this game. No personality and no gesture difference. It makes it even worse when the create a player mode lets you pick from just a few generic faces. This game is just a massive ball of genericness. Players don't even slide on clay for crying out loud! I love to watch players (in real life) like Djokovic and Nadal slide around and watch the crushed rock fly up from underneath their feet. There is none of that in this game. I love watching live tennis matches and the commentators make it so unique every time. You see where I'm going here. There is none of that. Just generic John McEnroe phrases. SO GENERIC. No variation whatsoever. I think I heard, "what planet is he from" in the exact same way about 10 times throughout the game play, there is no excitement in him either, and don't get me started on the crowd. It's like a club exhibition match all the time from their reactions, and did you hear the music! You could LITERALLY here it go back to the beginning of the loop about 20 times in the menu screens. The lag as well, it just ruins any flow during the match. Graphically, this game doesn't look half bad. Even the licensed players don't look that bad, but there is still a lot of work to do. The ball still doesn't look like it's coming of the racket most of the time. Did you hear me mention Djokovic and Nadal earlier, guess what. Their not even in the game! It's ridiculous. The lack of other licensing, I'm OK with. It doesn't bother me. Once again though, I expected better. The players positioning on the court is still off. Clearly they still have little idea of what a real professional tennis match looks like. The players would not stand in between the baseline and the service box line (also known as "no man's land") in the middle of a point, unless they have to. The atmosphere almost doesn't exist, as I said earlier, the crowd is terrible, the stadiums have no personality either. There is nothing in this game that screams, this is a game worth looking at purchasing and we've worked so hard on this game. What I will say though is that they didn't have a great budget. Mainly because of the type of game and how no games company has made one in about 6 years, I'm looking at you 2K sports!, but they did make something with the money they had. They've already made a bit of a success as they have done what no other games company has done in the last six years and make a tennis game. I'm still sticking with modded Tennis Elbow 2013 with the Maxou patch (ATP 2016). I think the success of Tennis Elbow 2013 and Top Spin 4 has come from how the game developers know what a real match looks like. They made it to perfection, given the fans so much versatility, put so much hard work behind it and it paid off. Bigben Interactive and Breakpoint Studios need to understand they have a long way to go in order to produce the Tennis game the fans deserve. I know this comment is long, probably boring and massively convoluded, but I think it is worth it! Thanks for reading.
I'm having trouble installing the Maxou Patch. I still have the old ITST patch. Is there a tutorial out there?

Astro Jay Astro Jay there will be some out there, bear in mind you need it have a fresh install of Tennis Elbow 2013 just before you install the maxou patch. Make sure you have WinRAR installed or something to extract ZIP folders. I recommend a tutorial on RUclips by GoonGala Gaming, I found it to be the most helpful one out there. Good luck. Instructions can be tricky but some patience and persistence should get you through it. It's all worth it in the end.

What do you think about AO Tennis? I can't decide between the two, this lacking Djokovic and Nadal is a major turn-off, AO Tennis lacking Federer is dissapointing but at least that game has a great creation tool, as I've seen. I can't go back to Tennis Elbow at this point, it's simply too dated visually for me, despite being a fantastic tennis simulation.
Players are still hitting backhand shots when the ball is either out of reach or past the player.
This is the main problem. Hope they address it soon

Great gameplay! Very solid play mate, can tell you have years of tennis gaming experience lol, so what has improved since the patch? Honestly it looks really fun, the game is released in two weeks in my country :D
least the crowd noise has been put in now. looks a lot better bit still needs work.
For those commenting about the game being laggy in this video : There was a problem in the upload of this video its not about the gameplay. Its seems clear to me that its that way
Shut John McEnroe up, which is tough, but this looks better to me. Not as many awful lunges and slice forehands. Seems pace has increased to, I think I'm gonna like it when it's fully patched. Clearly a lot of bugs by both tennis games that never should have been released until they were completed. No excuse for all the frustration they've caused consumers.

Okssannia I'm definitely in full support of your petition, but I don't want you to get your hopes up with 2k. I've been a member of the simulation football community and for over 10 years we have tried to tell 2k that we want them to make another football game because Madden is garbage. Over those 10 years we have sent emails, signed petitions with thousands of signatures, offered to donate 2k money in a go fund me page and we have gotten absolutely zero feedback. Once again, I wish you the best.

How tf is there not a better game or at least as good of a tennis game as the TopSpin 4. It was on the PS3 and is still a far better game in almost every way( if not literally every way) compared to the current tennis games!!

Can anyone tell me if the AI can play as your custom player and how many custom players you can make at a time? Would love to be able to try make a custom Nadal or Djokovic to play against.
They need to add the option to play from the top end of the court--and add more players-- and include a proper player creator, among other things.
Best tennis for Xbox One is the tennis portion of GTA 5. :(

Gameplay is better in this patch. I see improvement in this game. We need to get top spin 4 out our heads. Get used to this game and AO tennis. They're making improvements
Still some kinks to iron out (notably the racquet swibging at air and making cobtact with th ball) and the audio is still abysmal...but even in its current state it looks good enough to play
@Chireu - does the game still have the problem where the computer automatically selects shot type? For example - if you press slice does it often play a topspin shot? This is a gamebreaker as far as Im concerned. No other game has steeped this low in execution and removing control by the user.
Andrew, I turned off auto-volley, auto inside-out, and invert sprint/drop shot. It has made a difference but you still have those time when it hits a slice when you hit top spin, but it is rarer that it was without this patch. There is marked improvement but still a long way to go.
I feel like the biggest issue is the stamina control, it is too overbearing in this game. It is the reason why i all of a sudden i couldn't move side to side on some of those plays to hit a a simple shot.
Although AO Tennis (or AO International Tennis now) is improved to its initial release, and so has this, the number one reality is....neither of these are still as fun as Virtua Tennis, Top Spin, Grand Slam Tennis or Mario Tennis. That is the simple reality!

I have this game since may, no update since then. I can't play it without being frustrated, so I don't play. I think only cash back would help in my case. I bought a game that isn't playable, though it's sold like it's the best on the market. They didn't deliver what they promised.
Yep no updates since the last patch. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy the game until everything is fixed
and the only patch that they promise is the online gaming...I don't even want that :D I just want a game that is fun and enjoyable. Without the right player movement it will never be.

Has anyone else had issues with the Inside out shot? Im never able to get my player to use the shot, but it works with auto on. But holding down LT/L2 doesn’t produce the shot
Add more players--also fix the glitch where your raquet doesn't touch the ball.

Good question I didn't realize that there was lagging on the recording, This makes it hard to distinguish between when the game itself had a mini lag glitch and when the recording lagged. Sorry about that.
Virtual tennis 4 is much better

yeah this seems like a massive scam, using the coatails of TS4 to spend minimal dollars on development , rely on gamers desperate anticipation of a new era of tennis games on better consoles and PC's . I just shake my head watching xbox 360 gameplay of TS4 and seeing videos like this.

It's still sooo far away from real tennis. Where are fast rallys?where are good preperated points? where are close out call? Where are net rollers? Players are not even hitting the ball all the time..... and really weird backhands 80% of the time.... that's nowhere near a real tennis simulation. And haha you can see where the ball will lands right after the hit? WTF! :D

Scream AO Tennis LOOKS much better on youtube and customisation is world class...but the actual tennis sucks to play. have you actually sat down and played it? you cant control your player movement or the placement of shots when you are on the run. it is atrocious
AO Tennis is possibly the worst sports game Ive ever played, gamplay wise. Its so clunky and frustrating. All the licenses, courts, players and customization in the world matters little if the gameplay is bad, which it is.
