Definitely agree with you about the Air Ride, has no place on a Mopar. A modern Hemi swap sounds like the logical choice with the modifications already done, although part of me cringes at the thought of heavily modifying a real '70 R/T. Whatever you decide, I'm sure you will put the Love it deserves into it that you do with all of your projects. Can't wait to follow along with the build.
Treat it as a puzzle, look over that body and then unboxed all the parts. See if you can put their plan on paper and then decide if that’s what you want to build. Take the fastest route to get it back on the road at the least expense. You’ll never please everybody and yourself, so we will all love it if you treat it as an assembly process with minor adjustments.
It would be nice if it was numbers matching, but you can make it your own. It should be pretty sweet whatever you decide to do with it. A lot of work for sure. A modern Hemi would be crazy and fast!
See if you have the door flairs . I only remember them being on the 70. They really look great. I had a few of the chargers all R/T i always believed the front disk brakes was standard on the R/T. I would restomod. Upgrade disk brakes all around. I've seen a few with the demon package put in. Drive train and electronics. Seems like a nice setup. Good luck, looking forward to the build.
I like the modern hemi along with a gusseted K frame and subframe connectors. I yam allergic to lowridden heights but a fan of midrange. Freeeay gears along with overdrive transmissions are spectacular.
From this far apart? Probably a year to get done but that’s because we always have 4-5 projects going in at once. A lot of component resto is already done on it which helps a lot.
You got all the donation stuff plus all the original stuff too. There is a video by Steve Morris Engines you should check out, its a blown hemi for a 68 Charger being built in France its pretty badass.
@@rocketresto An interesting twist would be dual plug heads with one real dist and one fake for the look as running even 1 Mag on the street is crazy...I did it and fried every loud car stereo in my city in Cali when I lived there lol. No Mags they run too hot on the street with E98.
I dunno...see a lot of restomods, i'm not a fan. People wanna change out to modern drivetrains but could there be anything better/reliable than an RB, 727, 8 3/4? Since there's no fender tag, i'd say make it a hipo lux ride, with plum crazy, white top/interior/bumblebee, and load up with lux optIons. And magnum 500's with whitewalls
@@rocketresto have you ever made it to Carlisle in the past? Jamie has a dart for sale and I wanted to buy it. I’m an hour from Carlisle the matter how I slice it’s a long ride.
@@rocketresto the white one that he bought out of Chicago the convertible four-speed I think it was Chicago. I just love that little car with the 273. If in Philadelphia PA. The ride to Carlisle is a little over an hour for me, but every other show is like super far Ohio don’t seem that bad. I never made it out there.
I’m dying for you to go through the goodies! it depends on what you’re gonna do with the car because if you think that you’re going to sell it, you might want to do a resttomod. I agree with you 100% about airbags and stuff but if you got into that car cheap enough with all the parts you could make a healthy profit because he can’t go back to OEM while you could, but it just don’t have the exact numbers matching motor and possibly don’t have the data tag
Just don’t like air bags in a Mopar, I’d rather go with t bars but also with them modifying the torsion bar cross member maybe getting rid of them might work?
@@rocketresto I agree with you 100%! I would much rather have the torsion bars It’s a Shane they didn’t go with the five speed Kiesler because you don’t have to modify the torsion bar mount just the floor itself.
@noberet we use actual cosmoline. We got a 5 gallon bucket (very expensive!) then dip them. We just then buy 1 gallon buckets to top off the cosmoline so enough is in the bucket to dip the control arms.
Drop a 440 in it, and definitely keep the c7 plum crazy. It's just a little too nice to restomod
I would be really interested In seeing a detailed video on the 518 swap, specifically the torsion crosmember reinforcement. My vote is for the 440.
Good to see someone that knows what they are doing now owns the car. Good find Tom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!
You have a blank canvas do what you like who cares what other people think it's yours
Wow!!! A full-size model kit that you can actually drive when finished!!!
Pretty much.
Any Charger is a good Charger, and this one is a great starting point for a very nice car.
Especially when all the metal work is basically done
Agreed I have 2.❤
I prefer low back buckets to the 70 high backs myself anyway. Purple with a white interior would look great.
Plum Crazy with white interior and white stripe, Best color combo! 5.7 would be a great addition. Great project to follow!
Nice find! I love the plum crazy purple cars.
Very nice score on your basket case!!! I see you have picked up more viewers, Excellent .
Hit 3000 subs today!
I can only imagine Jamie shaking his head to the modern hemi swap 😀 at least he has some experience under his belt now.
Think his neck hurts from shaking his head 😂
Out of the generosity of my heart. You can store that 69 Charger extra part at my place
Might need the room!
Definitely get it all together but it looks like the perfect educational tool on how they all go together. Jamie could use it as a training aid.
Maybe a 392 or hellcat swap but not a 5.7. All factory after that!
Can’t wait to see this build done

Since it’s already been modified it makes sense.

Really tempted to do the modern hemi thing but also have a 440 ready to put together for it…

Awesome…..BLESS YOU!!!!
Super excited about this one
Looks like a Jamie car 🚨😊
Too nice for a Jamie car 😂 just bought another 69 Charger that is more Jamie’s speed
Off the rails, indeed. Crazy find

Already has the torque boxes and subframe connectors, should be nice and stiff.
Good score
Very cool
Excited to see it come together. What sort of time frame would you expect a project like this one to take?

Found a 392 today, thinking about it.

That is so solid and a fun build if you had 3yrs to spare and 20k😂 but I would build it for the paycheck in the end.
I think should got stock.

If it was numbers matching with a tag sure go stock, but think this is a pretty good candidate to restomod considering.
I don’t know how often you check your emails but I put a question about this charger. Thx
When did you send it? Didn’t see it.
Went to my spam folder 🤦♂️
Do you know if a 72 polara front clip would fit on a 73 ?
Think so? They are pretty much the same from the doors back, maybe bumper mounting is different? 73 had the crash bumpers.
Are you coming out to chrysler's at Carlisle?
Probably not this year, it’s a 36 hour drive for us, makes it hard to go. Going to the Mopars in the Park Minnesota show in June.
@@rocketresto have you ever made it to Carlisle in the past? Jamie has a dart for sale and I wanted to buy it. I’m an hour from Carlisle the matter how I slice it’s a long ride.

Probably the way to go
Only 214 likes including mine? SAD!
Don’t know why this video hasn’t done better?

@@rocketresto I can't find if you replied about using Cosmoline paint instead of the actual oil? Had my settings wrong.

@@rocketresto Is the paint inferior? I totally get being original. For my use, I always wondered if the paint is more durable for a frequent driver.
Air ride??? Blach!!!
Restoration, resto modding a real R/T seems pretty pointless. At that point there is nothing R/T about the car.
