    THANK YOU for this video! Much respect to you for your efforts to keep us Railfan enthusiasts informed and especially those of us who no longer live in NYC, but will ALWAYS be New Yorkers and will ALWAYS LOVE the subway and everything connected with it. I worked at many yards in 1983-1984 and remember very fondly the Coney Island yard. What I love most about this video is seeing the excitement and obvious interest in this long awaited train and seeing soooooooooooo many subway enthusiasts there video recording the arrival of the R-211 is such a welcoming sight, how I wish that I was there. For me, the REAL excitement will be when the R-211T arrives!

      Having the doors integrated in between the inner and outer walls of the train makes it impossible to have larger windows. I live in Stockholm, Sweden were the new trains have the door attached to levers that push them out slightly in front of the outer wall just before opening. And the other way around when closing. Like many buses or trams.
      But for some reason it seems to take longer to open and close the doors with that system and it feels like forever when in a hurry.
      We also have older trains with "NY-doors" and they seems to be able to open and close even as the train is in slight motion. Much preferred in my opinion.
      Otherwise I like your new trains, they have personality and look distinctively New York-ish.

    • @cesardepena7498
      @cesardepena7498 3 года назад +8

      @@MrRailfan yeah, also open gangway is alot safer and will not permit from the stupid blinds to fall down the cars when the cross cars. This will eliminate the deaths of people crossing cars and will make the subway more safe, also it is extra space and also doesn't use alot of resources, it also connects the entire train like a car. One downside is if there is one crazy everyone in the train is gonna be expose to that crazy, then again the crazy could just cross cars and not fall down and get killed by the train, then again that is probably worse because th e train could derail when it rolls over the vody. Also idk why I had to go into detail there.

      Typical of the MTA. In my 5.5 yrs in NYC I have never heard of nor seen them refer to technology that exists everywhere else in the world. Instead, everything is designed from scratch. Waste of time. Just accept that the world has moved forward and buy the best of the best. Yes they need to be tested on NYC lines, but no they do not need to be engineered from scratch.
      Before the fanbois start whinging, note that Amtrak's extremely successful ACS-64 is developed from the Siemens Eurosprinter which has worked wonderfully for German, Austrian, Czech and multiple other national railways in Europe.

    • @cesardepena7498
      @cesardepena7498 3 года назад +1

      @@mkkm945 ah yes, because the design since totally built from scratch an not used from the r160 with some minor changes to the sides and only having a mayor change at the front hmmm. Also idk what you talking about, they have never built open gangways for the subway before, this will likely be inspired by other designs as well, like the London underground tube trains that have open gangway so it is not even from scratch. Overall I don't get your comment and I also don't get why you are complaining, however I'm don't want to start a war so take this comment with a pinch of salt.

    • @mkkm945
      @mkkm945 3 года назад +2

      @@cesardepena7498 Open gangways have been around in subway/metro systems all over the world for many decades. These are both new and old systems so no excuses there. NYC wanting to 'test' out a design/technology that is globally proven is pointless. It means that we, as commuters, will get the initial batch of cars without the feature which will carry on in service for 20-40 years. Open gangway is such a basic technology at this point and it is very frustrating to see NYC investing in brand new vehicles without a basic standard feature. My point is, there is some strange ego or decision making in MTA that means that we, the fare paying public, suffer with inferior tech and service for decades to come. No war at all - my comment is from frustration.

    Great video. Watching this I realize one of my main complaints about the car design. The side door windows should have been made bigger to compensate for reduction in size of all the windows. I know they want standardization of glass across the fleet but it wouldnt kill them to have a second type of replacement glass in stock.

    • @cesardepena7498
      @cesardepena7498 3 года назад

      Now that I look at it, those side windows are a little two square and two small, even a little extending of the windows is helpful so it doesn't look so small.
