- How many of you spray your mango trees to prevent Powdery Mildew? What do you spray and how has it worked? Check out this video I just made. I'm going to make another video attempting to spray my trees with sulfur
Powdery mildew is one of the most widespread and easily recognized plant diseases. Powdery mildews are characterized by spots or patches of white to grayish, talcum-powder-like growth. Powdery mildews are severe in warm, dry climates.
Here are some good videos about how to deal with Powdery Mildew

Paul the sprayer to apply sulpher, you need to have a aggetator within the sprayers system in line with the pump, not a regulator.but good videos Paul, keep them coming.I have 130 mango trees in my orchard.I use a 50 gallon king sprayer system WTH an aggetator.you have enough mango trees now that you should consider one.Its built on a little trailor and can be pulled around on. Gulf cart.Saves a lot of time and is very effecient!
Love this channel !!!! Great content. Keep up the great work !!!!
Used garden hose to hose down my Nam Doc Mai mango tree last year. It worked, washed off much of the PM. Good crop resulted.
❤Love your channel
Paul you did a GREAT job of watering the neighbors yard. LOL
I tried spraying with Potassium Bicarbonate last year on a White Perie tree that was loaded with PM. Really seemed to work for this tree. Had lots of fruit from what were very gray flowers before the spraying.
You should spray with sulfur and coper to control the fungus right went start flowering every week until the small mangos form it could rain 2 to 4 hours after the product aplicación it still could work the water will wash the mild but you need to stop the fungus
I’m surprised you have PM with all the rains we’ve been having in Palm Beach. Def been hitting mine with copper.
It rained the day I made this video but the last week was not much at all
Hmmmmmm -- no blooms like that up the road in Orlando. We have a few vegetative buds that are swelling.
Is it me or did spraying remove off all the flowers and fruitlets? Those panicles look bare after the spraying. Kind of pointless to remove all the flowers no? Sure, you have no powdery mildew, but you also have no fruit now.
some of the little magos stay there, If you don't do anything the gray powdery mildew will cause nothing to grow or them to fall maybe. I have my rosie gold that had PM but still mangos are there so that's a good thing
@@FruitfulTrees ok good to know the little mangoes can hang on. I guess in that case it should be done once there is at least some fruit set.
@@FruitfulTrees I have powdery mildew too here in India, but it looks like the powdery mildew is more isolated as of now and I have some pea sized mango on the tree. Hope those survive this powdery mildew attack. I have been using organic fungicide (without sulphur) but that is not much effective.
@@FruitfulTreesI think all are not female flowers. Some may be male or sterile flowers which will not turn into fruits. Same like coconut flowers
Does the water spray hurt the flowers and knock the fruit off? Also can you spray sulfur on flowers? I know copper will hurt the flowers but will copper?
Copper sulfate?
My Ice Cream mango tree has powdery mildrew. I've been hosing it down ever other day to try to get it off.
Would tropical almond leaves help with this or not really?
I love your backyard with all those trees. I tried to put mango trees in my backyard but they all died. 🤔what am I doing wrong?
smudging (smoke), is the safest and most effective way to prevent powdery mildew/infestation.
Always wondered why my wife said to put smoke under the trees. She didn’t know just told me to do it.
@@backyardmangoes4333 wow! Nice.. You should listen to her instinct and do your research about it too.. Coz it is not just to repel insects, but mostly used to induce fruit trees to produce flowers naturally, especially mango trees.. This is how we do it for some of the farmers here in the Philippines..
@backyardmangoes4333 wow! Nice.. You should listen to her instinct and do your research about it too.. Coz here in the Philippines, it is not just to repel insects but mostly to induce fruit flowers especially mango trees because of "ethylene gas".
I’m getting white holes and specks on my mango leaves can you help me I don’t know what to do and there starting to fall off
Interesting regional difference. I’m in the PNW. Just sprayed last week with copper and horticultural oil. We do this to target bugs, fungus, leaf curl (especially in peaches) and to treat for powdery mildew. Powdery mildew can be especially bad late summer on cucumbers, squash and tomatoes.
Sulfur is generally used to treat for mites and thrips and is a real pain imo. Not for
PM.
I’d think the copper and oil would be very effective. Is there a reason it’s not effective there?
I got some on my Glenn and pickering. I'm growing my trees as organic so I don't spray.
PM is my biggest issue here in SoCal. Looking for some late season varieties that are more resistant to PM. Any suggestions Paul? Maybe a question for Alex?
They say Nam Doc Mai will give fruit even if you have PM.My Nam Doc Mai did hold fruit even with some bad PM
Can we use any organic alternative in this situation? I am doing organic gardening please suggest!
Sulphur is organic, no? 🤔
Can you help me with the name or composition of any sulphur fungicides that we can try?
Morning sir I have a question, whenever my jackfruit tree bloom and the fruit comes out for some reason all the fruits get this cobweb all over it then the fruit starts to rotten. Any suggestions
How old is your tree also is it from seed?
Thanks for your reply,it’s 3 and a half years old and it’s grafted. I bought it from a nursery
sounds like that are just mail flowers for now. Not to worry once you see the mail flowers the female are close behind.
@@FruitfulTrees ok sir thanks
Spraying water with such force could shred all the flowers
I was wondering the same thing? I do mine like a heavy rain?
Could you spray with dawn dish soap and water?
I don't know, never tried that
I tried sulfur and also copper. Unfortunately my mango tree died!!!
Paul. I see you have a bunch of Dragon Fruits. Can you please start doing videos on those? Beside Mangos Dragon Fruits has been my new passion. So far I like American Beauty, Robles Red, Lisa, and Physical Graffiti. Also, what varieties do you have?
I've made some in the past about my friends dragon fruit trees. I don't know what varieties I have. He had a bunch and I got some
What kind of camera are you using?
I phone 15, my newest upgrade
@@FruitfulTrees Thanks, you have awesome videos.
Mildew . . . 🫤🙏🏾
Hang on to that little mango. Put it somewhere in the house in sunlight and it will ripen. It may take a month or more but it will eventually soften & sweeten. It won't be your best but....
Ive done that and it does ripen but was kinda sour on the Nam Doc Mai and the lancentila gave me 3 mangos last year but dropped them early and were not very good. But your right they will ripen.
