Hey mate, kinda late but I wanted to ask is it worth getting into the Samyang ecosystem? I'm switching from Canon to Sony and Samyang seem like THE lens manufacturer for my needs and budget (24-70 mm // 85mm). What are your thoughts?
We are using almost only Samyang lenses and never felt like we need to change, especially their prime lenses are really good. As for the 24-70 f2.8, it was their first zoom lens, so IMHO needs an MkII upgrade, especially to lower it's weight. But overall it's a really good, versatile lens. The 85mm f1.4 MkII is a beast :)
Hi, Yes, we kept the v2 firmware and so far have not had any issues with it. But to be honest since we have the V-AF line this lens is only resting on the shelf :)
Do you think this would work pretty well with A7s mk1 of mine, which has a bit more basic autofocus? ( gyanús volt a magyar akcentus az elejétől fogva :)
@@holdmylenscap7241 I see. Altough the A7 II has phase detect AF and tge A7s does not, so I guess I need to try it somewhere. (Hát szerintem azért valamennyire van, de ennek ellenére ritka jó az angolod ;)
I don't think they did, but I don't think the issue is as big as it seems on B&H. It is true that the mount plate is only held by 4 screws that connects to plastic housing, but it is true to many other lenses. I believe with proper care it shouldn't be a problem, just if you accidentally bang it to something or drop it.
Just bought the 24-70 samyang, second had. But when I connect the lense to my a7iii it shows the image as usual but if I turn the camera off and then on it only shows a black screen and after 30 secs it show the image, I already installed the latest firmware on the camera and already ordered the Samyang lense station to update the lense, hopefully that’ll fix the issue 😓
not sure what are you referring to... the lens zooms parfocal but it's software based so limited by the AF speed. Did you experience any other issue with it?
i have this lens with SONY A7 III, updated to v2, but it has really big problems with AF, in not moving scene it out of focus everything in moments, than it has problems to focus again... Really, really bad...
That does not sounds right. Had this lens on Sony A7III and A7RIIIa too and never had issues with focus before or after v2. You might want to contact Samyang to see if they could check the lens as it might have a fault.
SAMYANG IT'S ABOUT TIME TO ADD USB PORT IN THEIR LENSES!! SELLS CRAPPY LENSE AND THEN RELEASE FIXES ADN WE HAVE TO BUY ADDITIONAL STUFF TO BE ABLE TO FIX PROBLEMS.
I disagree on that. Adding a USB port to every single lens for being able to update it once in a blue moon, will add extra bulk and cost to the lens. The lens station is going for peanuts so if you ever need it then you can get one cheap and you can use it with all your lenses, without adding the cost and bulk of it to every lens. So I really welcome that Samyang did not go that way.

Hi, i got an issue on my 24-70 samyang.
Autofocus/focus can't working at 24mm and 25mm... Any solution for that issue?..
Btw, the firmware is V2

Thanks, will do!
Hello do you still have the v2 firmware for 24-70 samyang? im planing to downgrade it because of the conflict of a7siii and v4 update

Hey, I am using this lens with A7iv. Unfortunately touch focus is not working. How to fix it?
is it working with other lenses?

I have used the lens on an A7II and the AF worked fine, even in infrared :)

Did Samyang fixed the mounting issue? A lot of reviews on B&H said the mount easily broke off.

@@holdmylenscap7241 The lens is pretty heavy. I picked up Tamron 28-75 instead. :)

hi.. i am using the same lens in my a7iv. But my camera freezes frequently. Cud it be becos of the samyang lens
Hi, we are using this and other Samyang lenses on A7III, A7RIII and A7IV and never had freezing issues. Did it happen during photos or video?

That sounds a bit strange. Is this happening with other lenses as well or just the Samy?
Is it fixing the parfocal zooming problem?

@@holdmylenscap7241 i experience issue with the zooming in video.. Theres some focus jittering while zooming ☺
Unfortunately that's due to the limitation of the focusing speed. We experienced it too when zooming too fast and the AF has hard time to keep up.

You get what you pay for. Sigma 24-70 is not that much more expensive, but much better and lighter, too (830g vs 1020g)!
