Ninja Theory's Melina Juergens has told BBC Newsbeat how her own mental health experiences helped her connect with her character in Senua's Saga: Hellblade II.
Melina adopts the role of Senua, a woman living with psychosis as she manages her mental illness and the stigma that separates her from her community.
Melina also talks about the painstaking detail that went into props and costumes, including Senua's own clothing.

Great interview. I've only played the game for an hour, but I can already tell that Ninja Theory have created something amazing. I love the amount of effort they put into the costumes and filming on real locations. I hope other developers take note of this and improve their own games in similar ways. Great job, Ninja Theory.

What amazing game knowing there so much pain hurt personal battles that each everyone goings through and facing it alone and mental health is a serious issue but learning understanding truly help but I'm sad that my own home Philippines as this serious issue but chooses to ignore it and with lack leadership and really focusing on real problems that right in front them the Philippines will never get better

@@ErrrorWayz Not everyone really care about combat, many people love story driven games. Hellblade is a refreshing experience and has it's own genre, if it's not your cup of tea it doesn't mean it's bad, it's just not for you. You sound really childish.

I wish this game didn’t use mental health as a crutch. It’s a good game in its own right. A nasty trend that I don’t think is gonna go away anytime soon. 🤦♂️

The first game was great. I’m really excited for the second but it should not be an exclusive to microsoft if they want more people to understand mental illnesses.
As a game with this idea , this is brilliant ..but as a single player action it was a disappointment...but thats kinda expected with the franchise
Loool only the BBC could pick up an underwhelming hack and slash and fawn over its wildly pretentious "mental illnezzz are realz" plot line. Games as metaphor for this played out in 2001, it's boring now. Just end the Licence Tax please.

Can you turn off the voice overs in the game ? I found them annoying in the first game. This one looks (sounds) even worse regarding this.

Last I saw the Metacritic was in the 80's+ with reviews being mixed, some applauding the game and some being unable to connect with the subject matter or disappointed it isn't Xbox's version of God of War ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Played a few hours now. Boring, really uses mental health as a USP
I found the first game boring. Got a few hours into it, hard to push myself to get that far but just got bored with it. Nothing but pretty graphics and annoying voice overs, oh and basic combat sections. Nothing special about it. Might as well watch a walkthrough on RUclips, might do that with this second game. I just don't get all the hype these games get. I am an Xbox fan before people start calling me a Ponie or whatever.

Calling this a game is a massive stretch. The first game was brilliant but never needed a sequel. In fact the narration of that game even mentions this to a degree which is rather comical now.
It’s obvious that pub in the building at Ninja Theory is where most of the 7 years was spent rather than making a proper game.
I loved the first game but this new one is more of tech demo than a game. At best it’s a rather poor walking simulator.
One RUclipsr summed it up really well.
If you are a geologist you will love this as there is not much to it other than pretty rocks.
Not even worth the time it takes to get through on Gamepass and an absolute disgrace that this sequel took 7 years to make compared to the budget and story of Hellblade 1 which is superior where it counts including the self contained story.
This is just made as an art piece to win awards and gameplay was a distant second thought.
Even the achievements were phoned in with no thought put into them at all. 25pts for opening photo mode just get real. That is a joke.
Xbox is cooked if this is the direction they are going to take with AAA as these belong on Netflix as an interactive experience and not passed off incorrectly as a ‘game’.
Definitely a shame last place Sony has zero games all gen to compete.
