i did exactly what you did... it does not boot the usb drive
From what i have heard, some rpi's will not boot from a USB drive. BUT, with that said did you refresh your eeprom & do a system update? That might help?

I have not tried it yet, so you could be correct. There are other videos about it on youtube that you could check?
Is there anyway to go back to using SD-card?
Unplug the usb drive
raspi-config allows you to select your boot device - see "boot configuration" i recall (assuming you flashed the latest eeprom already)
