Same. I was in the electric department. I even heard some some senior crew members complain about the "rookie" Director and DP for not shooting quick enough. This is NOT all Black people’s story in America. We are not a monolith. A lot of us don’t even live in urban America which is often a narrative that Hollywood pushes. And there are lots of Blacks who don’t struggle financially or come from broken homes, like in this movie or Precious.

    • @The_Primary_Axiom
      @The_Primary_Axiom Год назад

@@tonyg76 It’s a whole ideology. I’ll explain it. So the darker your skin the more you count as “diversity” that’s how the ideology is right now. Like the whole bi-poc nonsense. It’s literally saying Spanish or Hispanics with lighter skin aren’t as important as ones with darker skin. It’s insane. Then you have white people. Not only do they not count as diversity, but you can be racist to them as well right to their face, in public and in movies. Also you have Hollywood, who have check boxes that say never make a movie or a show today with an all white cast. Why? How come every color or race can do an all that color or race cast except white ? Well because white doesn’t count. White people are not people who count as a race. That’s the ideology being pushed by the progressive left. Every culture, color or race can do all that color cast except white. If you do white it’s racist. Even when do like Viking show now they will race swap. They even race swapped the queen of England Anne Boyeln to a black woman and the Viking king Jarl Haakon to a black woman. It’s insane. So even white historic movies or shows now must have race swaps. The ideology is a disease.

Amazing movie. Truly epic. Reminds me of growing up in the 90s ❤️
The higher message is one of the prince and the pauper. Lost identity and finding the true self. Stripping back who you thought you were to reveal the truth. It’s deeper on so many levels.
It has the initial message about life , trauma, loss and love but that is just the surface. Deeper it asks the most fundamental question : who am I?
Love and light to all ❤

I agree with you fully. It was so telling when 6 year old Terry asks Inez, “ WHY IS NO ONE LOOKING FOR ME?” So disturbing/disgusting that a small child supposedly under the care of the State could so easily be snatched and no one really care 😢.

Amazing movie. This was one of the best movie's I've ever seen. Really thoughtful script, acting, and great cinematography. Oscar-winning potential you all did! Keep up the good work: I survived a religious cult, police brutality, child abuse (physical, mental, zexual). They system just spits us out and tosses us in the trash. The few that survive often can't even articulate the pain, or end up on drugs on in a grave. The rest that survive may sellout. The remainder, tell the real stories. In middle of editing my own movie, and I decided to take a break and watch this. Signed: Spice from Southern Hip Hop - The Dirty South Movie. Coming soon.

    My review : spoiler alert
    A thousand and one
A story about a boy who we see young , in the foster system. A women supposedly his mom comes out of prison, seemingly some type or restraining order as she can’t see him, about to be adopted, the mother steals him and runs away. Years pass from 1994 to 2001 on further until we see him as a young man, about to go to college . When trying to do so he puts his papers forward and gets found out he’s a runaway. What he didn’t know and is discovered his mom isn’t his mom, and she kidnapped him from a a street corner when he was a baby. Having an identity placed on his previous identity , going from terry to Daryl, to find out he is neither of those. He has no identity. His mother or kidnapper attempts to run away from the police , going home to pack she encounters him. He asks why and how it came to be.
The mother at first defensive before telling the story how he was left on the street she waited hours with him , no one came, having come from the system herself , having no parents she wanted to give him a better life,
He is lost at this point with his world tore apart. But Still he sees what his woman has done for him bringing him up from around 4 to 18 , loving and caring for him like a mother would, having been lost herself.
It’s a beautiful nostalgic story of the 90s, with the kidnapping and lying aside reminded me of my own childhood . Being from the 90s how could it not.
It has so many messages. An instant classic for me. Will be remembered.
Working on higher and lower levels . The lower as explained a story of life, love , lost , trauma , real life messages.
Higher is the false identity placed on him for him to find the truth, that he is not who is said to be, and further to that an orphan. Orphans in history coming from royalty
Comparing this to say the story of Moses , unaware he was king until told, lied to for his whole life , only to find the truth and a way back home.
In the movie his mother he thought was his mother , was not. His home that he thought was his home was not and who he thought he himself was, he was not
This is the highest story of life the lost identity of oneself.
