I am from the Parsi community, have massive respect for the Sindhi people. As a fellow Parsi who had Sindhi friends since childhood, my community can relate a lot to the Sindhi community. We both fled our ancestral lands due to the same community who pushed us out and we both found India as a nation that gave us the right for us to retain our culture and people. Sindhis are very hardworking and have produced many great businessmen as well. A sad thing is that in history, many people from our two communities were forced to convert to Islam without a reason. Sindh is the birthplace of Hinduism in case you don't know. Also if you are a true Indian, you must read about the story of Raja Dahir, a brave Sindhi king who at all costs defend his Sindh from western invaders. Jai Hind 🇮🇳

I appreciate your sentiment, but truth be told you guys had no role in that. Mumbai and its surrounding areas became cosmopolitan ever since the Brits established its main port in Bombay back in the late 19th century, which was just a simple fishing village earlier. A lot of Parsis, Gujju and Marwari banias moved into the city after that. Back when even Sindhis migrated to India during partition, most of them came by ships/boats and landed in Mumbai (and Gujarat) and were granted refuge in what is Ulhasnagar today by the Govt. of India. Remember back then Maharashtra wasn't even there, both MH and GJ were part of the larger Bombay state. MH came into existence only in 1960, and the only reason they were given Mumbai was because the movement for separate states was spearheaded by Marathi politicians (who were more readily violent compared to Gujjus, and the situation could have spiraled out of control if GJ was given Mumbai), and Mumbai also had a slight Marathi plurality. But in terms of the character of the city, it was very cosmopolitan (with no real Marathi characteristic), and the economy back then and even today is completely controlled by Gujjus, Marwaris, and Parsis (Parsis have lost most of their influence though).

I appreciate your sentiment, but truth be told you guys had no role in that. Mumbai and its surrounding areas became cosmopolitan ever since the Brits established its main port in Bombay back in the late 19th century, which was just a simple fishing village earlier. A lot of Parsis, Gujju and Marwari banias moved into the city after that. Back when even Sindhis migrated to India during partition, most of them came by ships/boats and landed in Mumbai (and Gujarat) and were granted refuge in what is Ulhasnagar today by the Govt. of India. Remember back then Maharashtra wasn't even there, both MH and GJ were part of the larger Bombay state. MH came into existence only in 1960, and the only reason they were given Mumbai was because the movement for separate states was spearheaded by Marathi politicians (who were more readily violent compared to Gujjus, and the situation could have spiraled out of control if GJ was given Mumbai), and Mumbai also had a slight Marathi plurality. But in terms of the character of the city, it was very cosmopolitan (with no real Marathi characteristic), and the economy back then and even today is completely controlled by Gujjus, Marwaris, and Parsis (Parsis have lost most of their influence though).
