Even the English call them DUVETS. A comforter is something you stick in a baby's mouth--used to be known as a dummy. Has language changed that much in the last few years?

In American English, a duvet is typically called a comforter. “Comforter” is generally used to refer to a slightly different type of bedding that is not as thick, does not have a cover and is often used over a top sheet. It’s simply a regional term. Obviously different countries have different names for hundreds of thousands of items.
