that part at 1:39 when Tom goes all Vito Corleone for a second is priceless. What a reverent, wonderful nod to a classic and what a skilled, effortless actor.
Every now and then, in a movie or an interview, one gets the sense at how good an impressionist Hanks is, that if he wanted to do it, he could do it a lot more. I'm reminded of a Dustin Hoffman interview I saw once in which he was discussing his pre-fame roommates Robert Duvall and Gene Hackman, and he briefly tossed off this Robert Duvall impression (the charged-up Duvall, the Apocalypse Now/Network type, not the highly reserved Godfather type) that was just perfect.
I want to marry a woman who loved The Godfather. Not only is Tom Hanks doing lines funny, but I love how casually Kinnear responds to knowing what she meant
@@internetsummoner Are you yankin' my crank? Well nobody spells Mafioso like Mario Puzo. And if you do love the Godfather, chances are you'll probably love the rest of his works too.
@@seymourbuttsesquire3252 I read it and felt it was a waste of my time. To me, the movie was better. The book has some long parts that are absolutely irrelevant to the whole story.
I read a book from The Godfather, they sticked a Tom Hanks's quoted about The Godfather is "The Godfather combines to all the knowledges, The Godfather is the answer for any question."

@SG1Mitchell I loooooove The Godfather but unfortunately my husband is the only man created that can take it or leave. I have no one to whip my quotes out on.....but he was sweet enough to get me the box set so he is not so bad.
I'm not really a fan of chick flicks or rom-coms. This is one of two rom-coms I can stand[ I can't think of the name of the other one] I didn't like that Sleeping Seattle or whatever movie they were in before, HATED Pretty Woman, and I will not pay to see a rom-com at the movies or online. LOVED The Godfather and the 2nd one as well. 3 was so so. I would prefer gangster/mob movies.
This film is about a woman who has a small business and is destroyed by a large chain that sells everything at a low price. She, however, falls in love with the owner of that chain. Imagine with all this nonsense of political correctness what would happen if a movie like this were made right now.
@@MrArtmundus I don't think that's what "going to the mattresses" means. "Going to the mattresses" might be the phrase for going to war, but I think it's more of a reference to the heightened risks of the situation. When you "go to the mattresses", you band together tight, pull up the drawbridge, and only leave the safety of the castle in numbers to do whatever it is you have to while the hostilities are on. People are holed up together, sleeping on mattresses on the floor if they have to. Nobody's just walking around conducting business as usual like nothing's going on. Admittedly, it's been a while since I've seen The Godfather, but that was my impression of what that meant.

I was rollin!!😂 The way he just turned it on and off?! The man is a fantastic actor!!
100% - very awesome. It would have been so easy to make that weird or awkward, but Tom Hanks pulls it off perfectly.
When I was kid I loved this movie and this movie turned me on to the Godfather.
Both movies were great.
I want to marry a woman who loved The Godfather. Not only is Tom Hanks doing lines funny, but I love how casually Kinnear responds to knowing what she meant
My dad got me into The Godfather when i was in high school. He took me to a midnigjt showing after I got addicted and i was the only woman under 40.
Greg Kinnear is funny and underrated in this movie, like when he says nonchalantly, "It's from the Godfather."
One of the best Rom Coms, even to this day! This scene just makes me laugh outright every time!
lol..Tom hanks is so funny imitating Vito Corleone..."Oh Michael..."...huauhahuahu
Her "yeah, of course he knows" shoulder drop at the end is everything.😂
