- Joe Fox (Tom Hanks) gets stuck in an elevator with his girlfriend Patricia (Parker Posey) and two other people, which makes everyone re-evaluate where they are in their lives and what matters to them most.
Patricia was applying nail polish in an enclosed box with three other people breathing her obnoxious fumes. I'm sure she didn't ask the others if they minded. Joe was smart to leave such a selfish, self-centered woman.
Every time I see this I think the very same thing. I don't allow nail polish to be applied in the house if I am home, it smells so bad. Hair spay is a distant second.

That wasn't her best moment, however, you can see that everything about him just frustrates her, so she stopped listening and is now reacting, selfishly, I might add.
You don't really know someone unless you are stuck in an elevator with them.

Best part about romantic comedies is they mix humor and Lessons .. The comedy breaks up the Drama and makes the Moments of clarity come into focus. Its hard to Be overwhelmed by a truth that elevates or stalls us with how people can floor us.. lack of recognition of how we impact the lives around us and create a hesitation… unintentionally to someone we didnt mean to sabotage.. but in the end.. Its our pleasure craft we end up on .. thinking and contem’plating what we serve and how it impacts the mind , heart and soul of those who Know so many stories but cannot right their own. Strategically placed Breaks in drama that give ux insight into a character who wants nothing more then to have the biggest fight be which movie script is The desire .. of the evening. Imagine having access to any and all stories and the one you want is the one who shut down.. and all you can do is Give them time to come back to the shop around the corner.. to appreciate the feet of the one who conquered the corner.
I always wonder what happens after the happy ending… How happy they were getting to have their cake and eat it too.. having the market cornered .

While we're on the subject: I wish more MEN were as adamant as Juan or "the guy in the elevator" or Joe Fox or Frank Navasky.. The guy in the elevator knew.. he felt it in his heart that Oreet was THE ONE
"Where are my Tic Tacs--aggggh! What?!?" Best line about self-centeredness!! Making coffee nervous was the second best line.

An hour later, his neighbor was back on non-speaking terms with her mother, the doorman had broken up with his girlfriend, but Patricia was having her eyes lasered which chewing a nice fresh tic-tac.
Chewing a tic-tac? How do you chew a tic-tac? It crunches once and is gone.
Or...the neighbor was on non-speaking terms with her mother, realizing she would never change. The doorman came home to find out his girlfriend had taken up with another guy, realizing that the doorman would never change and marry her. Patricia had her eyes lasered but the guy botched it because of a software glitch and her vision was worse than ever, causing her to still not be able to find her tic-tacs, and Joe Fox moved on to his father's boat, realizing that Patricia was never going to change and tune in to his, or anyone's, feelings. Meanwhile Frank Novassky scored two more typewriters at the local repair shop and Kathleen kicked him, and his typewriters, out, realizing he would never change. Then she got the flu and some tea and everything was ok.

That's one obnoxious woman. I can't stand someone like that. A difficult moment really exposes a person's character, or the lack thereof in this case. (Don't get me wrong: I love Parker Posey the actress; I just dislike the character.)
lol..I love the way she looked at the elevator operator...and said "what?" ...the way she delivered that one word..perfect. like she was more superior, and that she's talking to a child.

It's a fun movie, but the ending always has me laughing furiously. I can't believe there is a woman alive who wouldn't have flipped her wig when she realized he had been playing her! Approaching her as both the 'sensitive friend' and the online 'mystery' guy.
She would have booted Brinkley the dog off the bridge and then kicked "Just Joe" Fox square in the doo-dads!!!!
No woman would be cool with that in real life.
@@danlimbaugh3629he was not playing her, he was afraid that she will reject him if she knew he was joe fox, the only thing left for him is to let her know joe fox and love him before letting her know that he is her email friend. That is a very believable and beautiful ending, she was already suspecting it.

Because even if you had all the money (or are the most handsome or most charming, etc.) in the world, and you could anything that you wanted, what would you want? And ultimately, IMHO, money has no bearing on that question because money does not enable your dreams or desire, and as a matter of fact, may get in the way.

I watched one clip of this movie, now RUclips keeps recommending more. I've watched about six now, and all I can say is that this is one weird ass movie. Strange, strange movie.
It ain't a strange movie, better watch it in its entirety so that way you can know more about the movie and why it isn't weird, it's a very good film!

Joe’s exchange with Juan was a little condescending. The way Joe was talking to him, I used to think Juan was a little kid. I was, like, 7 when mom got the DVD, and I was so confused.
