I suspect she broke character from being stern at the mocking, but they thought that her laughing at their antics was good enough to break the tension.
Holy hell, up to now I had only seen that other clip that ends with "that's a chick movie" - that was a great line … but then to go on to this! What a topper!

@@2410jrod Well, I can't help but think your opinion is stupid. I mean how can you seriously not like An Affair to Remember?? Especially with Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant like come on. It's a classic if ever I've seen one. And I've seen a lot of classics.
@@mariasmith9460 So have I and I have seen better its not a movie to write home about. I know it’s a classic I saw the year it was made. There were thousands of classic movies out there, you may not like everyone of them. Either way I still don’t care what you think.
This is still one of my favorite scenes, every one of them acted it to perfection. So relatable to many men and women. The fact that Rita and Tom are married in real life makes it even better. They'd been married 5 years here but still going strong after 36 years!
I love Rita Wilson in this scene. I totally do the same thing, describing some favourite scene from a film to someone who must be inwardly rolling their eyes and wishing I would shut up. But my enthusiasm forces them, in some cases, to be polite. Love the Dirty Dozen description on the men’s part. Point taken.
All the Dirty Dozen part was improvised by Hanks and then accompanied by Garber. Rita was clueless first because it was not in the script. That's why her face was first like hey what's going on here. 🙂
Idk why but i just had to search out for this scene today, thought it was in "You've got mail" first but then i remembered Victor. Enjoyed this scene since i first saw it and still do esp when i feel down.
I was 5 years old when this movie came out and it was one of my mom's favorite uplifting movies so I knew like all of the words from a young age. When I finally saw An Affair to Remember, the film she's gushing about, I was like "I finally get what that woman in Sleepless in Seattle was talking about with the movie and the Empire State Building! 😢💔♥️😣"
If I ever have to tell anyone about the movie Encanto, and espeically about 'Bruno's vantage point' (the crack in the wall)... I'd be EXACTLY like Rita Wilson in this scene, only moreso. Much moreso. She did a fantastic job here. No wonder Tom Hanks fell in love with her.
Love this 😂 I wonder if anyone told Tom Hanks when he was filming "Saving Private Ryan" in Hatfield (England) that the scene the fellas are talking about was actually filmed 10-15 mins down the road in Elstree Studios???? 😂
So damn funny. For Millennials and younger audiences that don't get the "Dirty Dozen" movie reference, it would be like two guys crying over the end of The Expendables or similar movie. LOL!
No, we got it. Jeez! I was born in the 80s, I know what the Dirty Dozen is! I was already pushing 30 by the time the Expendables came out. Millennial are middle aged now, we are not that young.
You know which characters Tom Hanks and Victor Garber played I'm talking about when it comes to this scene? Woody and Master Thundering Rhino crying together over any movie.
"Its easier to get killed by a terrorist than it is to get married after 40,,, thats absolutely untrue" That line was used twice in this movie so someone likes it.
It's meant to draw our attention to how similar Meg Ryan and Rosie O'Donnell's characters to Rita Wilson's character. Ryan describes Wilson as a "hoe" to O'Donnell at on point and then immediately admits she seems someone she and O'Donnell would be friends with.
When that statistic came out it was a BFD. Remember this was the era of movies about psychopath nannies and roommates and mistresses. Think it was like a cover story in Newsweek (and it may have been killed by lightning strike) but regardless I think they were making fun of the whole brouhaha around it and collective sigh of relief when it was debunked.
Rita Wilson's reaction to their mockery is what really sells this scene.
lol yeah, I love that she had the sense of humour to laugh at herself
I always repeat this scene 😂 love it so much
Also Jonah’s reaction is priceless too.
I suspect she broke character from being stern at the mocking, but they thought that her laughing at their antics was good enough to break the tension.
Tom and Victor weeping over the Dirty Dozen is genius.
I know. The writing is pretty clever for a Hollywood movie.
Apparently, a lot of this scene was improvised.
I laughted my ass off 😄
Holy hell, up to now I had only seen that other clip that ends with "that's a chick movie" - that was a great line … but then to go on to this! What a topper!
C. Dawg Knight didn’t know Victor Garber improvised this scene. Wow
Tom: I cried at the end of the Dirty Dozen.
Victor: Well who didn't.
That gets me every time
Oh God, I love THIS scene !!! 🤣
Didn't know Hanks and Garber improvised that, so Rita's reaction at their mockery was authentic !!! Great !!!
I always misremember this scene with Gary Sinise in place of Garber.
Rita is so underrated her acting is amazing!!
Well, she's got married with one of the top 10 most successful actors in movie's history, so, she is not underrated at all.!
You are only underrated when people do not talk about you enough
And here we are talking about how talented she is.
So, things changed... with a few words
My mom died in April and she and I LOVED this scene so much. Victor is hysterical.
I'm so sorry about your mom.
Its lovely you have a movie etched into a memory of your Mum.
Victor: "It is easier to be killed by a terrorist than to find a husband....." 🤣🤣🤣
Sorry to hear

From modern lens I find it a little weird but I get you
Victor garber is just totally awesome
"Are you all right??"
"She's fine."
I laughed so hard when the Jonah said that
This is the best scene ever. Obsessed. Seen this film a billion times, at least.

Tim and Victor stole this scene with their satire. Genius. Rita also did an outstanding job!
This is my kind of movie it has victor garber in it
whoever found that kid who played jonah did a brilliant job. he's as much part of this movie as tom and meg :)
I would even go as far as to say he is the one who made that movie so memorable. For me, it's him>Meg>Tom.
It was so funny when Victor started smacking his leg while crying.
I love this scene. Rita Wilson was great and the part between the guys discussing the movie is hilarious
Why can’t they make this kind of movie anymore!?
80s and 90s movies are soooo much better than the ones today
Nora Ephron passed away, that's why!
