What an amazing dog, he's fearless. I checked the date on this video and was sad to think the poor guy is probably all gray now or possibly no longer with us, no doubt he had a great fun life though.
what a charming dachshund. I've never seen a dachshund who loves swimming, fearlessly hurling himself into the air for the great dive. heroic and delightful in every way
He is just so happy. Puts a smile on your face watching him. Those dives into the water are so cute. He is just flinging himself out there, no fear. He certainly trust his owners. Really cute dog.
Every doggie should have such a good life, or at least some parts of it, in their own universe. They so deserve it, for making us humans so happy and enriching our lives in a world gone mad. Their innocence is so refreshing.
Maryanne Abad...do you know dachshunds backs get broken by jumping like that? Other dogs can jump like that but when a dachshunds jumps there is a section in their back that breaks easily...then the only choice for their life is euthanasia or one of those carts with wheels to carry their behind around because from the middle of their back to the tip of their tail no longer can function. I don't think dogs require things money can buy to make them happy. Giving them hugs, petting them endlessly, getting to sleep with their owner, playing fetch, going for a walk, their owner always being kind to them, going for rides...etc. the list of nice things are endless & don't cost anything but your time. If you will look at this closely, the dog isn't jumping into the water to be enjoying the water, but to get where it's owner is! You don't know, maybe the little dog has to sit by it's self, all alone, when their not making a video of it! Dogs have to be watched when around water the same as you would a child. I watched a grown, yellow lab drown because it "couldn't make" to it's destination. You are right, they do deserve a good life, if that is what they are getting!!! Not meant as criticism Maryanne, just FYI
All Dogs deserve better than what some people give them. I've NEVER seen a more reliable friend, than a Dog. Even a little Chihuahua can do some serious damage to you if that's how someone trains them that way. My neighbors had a HUGE Rottweiler And a Pitbull that watched over their little Girl. They were quite gentle with her, but God help you if they didn't know you, or if they sensed something dangerous. They actually ripped a stray Dog apart for growling at their little Human. Then they went back to play with the Child And some people's Dogs that were in the park that day.

Oh my gosh! For sure, my next and probably last dog will be a dachshund. The whole video was a delight, but blue water and ears at 45 degrees was highlight.
For some unfathomable reason these dogs disappeared altogether from Europe from the mid eighties until a few years ago. Now they're everywhere again, but I wondered what happened. They were so very popular in the late seventies... 🤔 Here in Portugal we didn't call them _Dachshunds,_ usually we called them _Bassets,_ which is French, or nicknamed them Salsichas, _Sausages,_ and it was impossible not to like them. They are amazingly friendly. 😀
Adino1 Absolutely!! We have 3 dachshund and I've had dachshunds my whole life!! I could not imagine life with another breed of dog; altho, I do love all dogs!! There is just something about the dachshund breed that melts my heart when I see one. When I encounter another dachshund owner (i.e. "owned" by a dachshund, per se), I feel we are kindred spirits as only a dachshund owner could possibly understand the breed!! :~)
This lady I know has a dachshund who when he's pissed, digs out everything... From her sewing basket! Hahaha... Hard to be mad though. Little stinker. :D
This is my favourite vid ever, bc it reflects my life since I was a little girl i the mediterrean coasts of France and Italy, where the beaches are very similar, with pine trees and in the Summer you do the exact same things Spithas does: you wake up and head for the beach down these narrow sandy paths. And you spend your day at the beach, with floats, swimming...you go back to the house around 3 when its too hot and take a nap and play games, and then back to the beach, maybe with a little boat to sail around the little creeks and dive from the boat. I feeel soooo reflected by little Spithas, and so happy he's enjoying the best life in summer life in the meditterranean beaches. : D
That is one happy dog. When my daughter was little, my German Doggle would sit by her and when she crawled off her blanket she would bark so I knew to come to her..Great dog & a little love like yours.
Thanks, we've had a devastating loss on the 27.5 our precious little Chihuahua (Freya) died in my arms, she was 13yrs old, we are completely lost, shattered and just numb. She was my best Friend. 😭😢😭😭
Wonderful to see a dachshund that enjoys physical activity. He is precious. Usually see this cute breed with inactive lifestyle. He has a wonderful life, and is recieving the love all our pets deserve. He is so lucky to have you.😻
Had a standard dachshund when I was a teenager. He was so much fun, so smart, a terrific friend, and like Spithas ,loved to swim. Loved chasing things like cats, rats, mice, bees, and hedgehogs. I reckon these are the best dogs for us humans.
What an amazing dog, he's fearless. I checked the date on this video and was sad to think the poor guy is probably all gray now or possibly no longer with us, no doubt he had a great fun life though.

Mine died last year, seeing this video reminds me of how fun he was. I really miss him.
mine also died last year, hairo... i miss him a lot. Just cried now
Mine too, a Dapple, Kristen escaped and when I got home I found her on the side of the highway. That was last February. Most devastating day of my six decades of life. Never been that upset, even about humans. Peace
Aye, hurts bad when you lose a doxie. :-(
Next month is my dachshund's birthday!!!!!!
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
hairo velez meus pêsames
Loved it. What a lovely boy. Thanks for sharing.
Sitting here with unreal anxiety due to Hurricane Dorian approaching Charleston, SC, and happened to come across this video. Haven't smiled in about a week because of all the hurricane talk, but THIS is the only thing that has brought even a glimmer of a smile to my face. THANK YOU! I NEEDED THIS!
Spithas is … handsome … elegant … intrepid … quite the masterful diver and swimmer that Spithas … I expect he was varsity at Harvard … *_Go Crimson !!! Go Spithas !!!_*
These dogs are really smart. We had one just like this when I was a kid. They LOVE to leap into water like that. Slo-mo dauschund launch!! Yeahhh!! Great company, this dog. He's right in there with you. That's how ours was.We had him for 14 years! Thanks for the video! Great stuff!
spithas is too beautiful!! could feel him loving the jumps into the water!!
Oh my gosh! For sure, my next and probably last dog will be a dachshund. The whole video was a delight, but blue water and ears at 45 degrees was highlight.
Spithas would not be who he is without you to please! It's obvious he adopted you and you are a matched pair!
Rich Stekeur super! :)
For some unfathomable reason these dogs disappeared altogether from Europe from the mid eighties until a few years ago. Now they're everywhere again, but I wondered what happened. They were so very popular in the late seventies... 🤔
Here in Portugal we didn't call them _Dachshunds,_ usually we called them _Bassets,_ which is French, or nicknamed them Salsichas, _Sausages,_ and it was impossible not to like them. They are amazingly friendly. 😀
I never seen a doggie jump into the water like that, thanks for sharing your holiday and love the little inflatable boat/nautical dog bed.
Love little ankle biters. Ears and all. Softest part of the dog. :) They're smart too!
Love it. A doggo living his best life. Thank you for loving this dog like you do.
All dogs should be loved and happy !
+Vanna Rocha so right
Agreed I hate people who abuse dogs
All Animals Should Be Loved and Happy!
Vanna Rocha I agree
What a happy, loved doggie. Goo' boy, Spithas. 💖
What a great dog with a great life. Thanks for sharing Spithas with us. Wish dogs could live forever.
Beautiful dog having great doggy fun. Lovely to watch.
This dachshund really has personality !
All Dachshunds do. Too much sometimes.

Absolutely!!

Dachshunds are the best dogs on the planet, i have a 14 year old acts half his age and very smart. they look like otters when they swim
Blue Effigy right! I have an 8 yr old and he still acts like a puppy. Lol!
My wiener dog Elldee can’t stand water at all.
But, he’s still the best companion I’ve ever had.
(Don’t tell my wife)
@kellykloss4653 cherish every single moment.
what a super wee dog, they are so lucky to have him.
That is one happy dog. When my daughter was little, my German Doggle would sit by her and when she crawled off her blanket she would bark so I knew to come to her..Great dog & a little love like yours.

Had a standard dachshund when I was a teenager. He was so much fun, so smart, a terrific friend, and like Spithas ,loved to swim. Loved chasing things like cats, rats, mice, bees, and hedgehogs. I reckon these are the best dogs for us humans.
Terrific dog Spithas..reminds us of our beloved Fido
After all this time, I just noticed the Harvard collar. How cute!
He's not Just a Dachshund he's a Dachshund Torpedo..Love the way he Launches himself into the water..he's Great
