At this point I am convinced Blizzard doesn't know what is doing in terms of balancing. Banning cards after a rotation with a single expansion out this year?

I would have banned doomkin instead. It feels bad to have your mana stolen and added as part of the opponent's mana pool. It's definitely a double ramp moment, where they are going up and you're stuck not being able to play a card or two.
Yeah, ban the 6 mana card, not the 2 mana enabler. Thank God not everyone gets to be a game designer.
skill issue, if you pass turn 5 without spending mana, doomkin doesn't do anything. truly a noob mistake
@@ioannispaxinos5171 It's not so much as the 2 mana enabler as much as the puppet master combo with summer flowerchild, which could potentially create 4 doomkins, ultimately shutting down a deck. Druid has so many tools for ramping up, why should it matter to ban a card that prevents your opponent from ramping up as well? Druid should be able to ramp, but not steal opponents mana as well to ramp.
I really don’t see why the splasher is a problem. It is the core card of the deck for sure, but it’s a fair card. It’s just a worse Wild Growth. If 2-mana ramp is not allowed to exist, why did Blizzard buff Wild Growth to 2 mana a few months ago?
The real problem is indeed the doomkin.
@@cuihenggangHow is it worse? It's Wild Growth with a body, that can be generated off multiple effects. It's strictly better in a dragon deck.
My opponent was a 50 HEALTH Arfus, had to double check, how can a bug like this even happen...

doomkin is not ramp, though, doomkin is taxes and that is not fun. :) so druid can go suck a big one :D
Doomkin should get one of your opponent unused mana crystal, that way you can play around forcing to spend all the mana
Really goes to show just how powerful Badlands is, arguably the one of the most powerful expansions we’ve ever seen. Damn near every meta deck is centered around Excavate and/or Highlander. For crying out loud they nerfed Reno three times in less than 6 months
x3? I thought it was twice? The first nerf changed 8 to 9 mana, but also added “deck started with no duplicates”. At the same time. 2nd nerf to 10 mana.
but Reno decks are not that prevalent right now. And excavate does not feel unbalanced. Good but not unbalanced.
Reno keeps getting wrongly nerfed, and excavate could use a buff.
@@johnparkin7872 Reno should be 7 mana, but leave the left most minion in the open slot. That way players can play around it a bit. save their portals an zylliaxes or whatever.

@@johnparkin7872 excavate warrior? Meta. excavate rogue? Meta. Excavate paladin? Meta. Excavate Death knight? Meta. Excavate warlock? Nerfed treasure for being too meta. Excavate shaman maybe could use a buff? Idk what game modes you’re playing. Kobold miners are everywhere in standard.
I crafted Thorim specifically so I could play my favorite archetype, Totem Shaman, in twist. Now I’m down 1600 dust that I can’t get back. Feels bad man 😢

Ramp is the core druid identity since release, pretty wild that they can't balance the game around it. At this point there is like what, 2 ramp options? One is at 6 mana...

just play paladin or hunter. I dont think blizzard CAN balance the game anymore its too powercrept, so just play the good classes or dont play HS anymore. thats what is happening to all the live service pvp games, you either tier abuse now or just lose cause the low tiers are unplayable. smash bros is like this too but its really obvious because its nintendo.
I won 10 fights in a row as demon hunter , then i hit platinum and oh lord i lost too every paladin, maybe won 1 fight.
And its such a boring deck that i really dont want to go any further

I play off meta decks, like 2 years ago i created my own deck and got legend with it, that is impossible now.. due to the insane mana cheat decks in Quest warlock, egg hunter and miracle rogue or you lose to hand distruption + otk decks like Raza priest or renathal druid aviana
As crazy as it sounds, that whelp rarely shows up in a timely fashion for me and the deck still does great. You know what FEELS bad is having your resources attacked like mana crystals or cards, or having so much mana cheat in the game that someone can spam two to three turns of value in a single turn. It always comes back to mana cheat.
I think doomkin is our first taste of cards that can de-ramp an opponent. The closest parallel we’ve ever had was celestial alignments pre-nerf version. I think destroying an opponents mana crystal is almost twice as valuable as developing your own. Ramp is always valued based on how fast you get it. Playing overgrowth on 4 mana makes you have 7 mana next turn. Over the course of the next 5 turns, you are effectively gaining 9 mana from the 4 mana overgrowth card. This is very strong, but consider if overgrowth were to instead take away an opponents mana crystals (who is also at 4 mana), the next turn they have 3 mana crystals, over the next few turns they will miss a total of 17 mana crystals. That is fucking abhorrent. Literally game over.
I think this is the beginning, I don’t think Team 5 actually understand why mana capping at 10 is deliberate and a balancing feature to curb ramp. By destroying the opponents mana, you instead subvert the natural mana cap and greatly extend the amount of disadvantage the opponent is at.

@@unnume2772 zihi falls into the category of symmetry. While celestial alignment is technically symmetrical, the Druid casted nourish to immediately be ahead of you significantly, also lady anacondra for a time could get dropped to have a bunch of 0 mana ramp and board development played in rapid succession and then your opponent had 1 mana crystal = one card to clear what you created (this is an extremely similar case to what we see with doomkin, being wide development, Druid has kneecapped the opponent and they are unable to deal with the board with the restricted ability to play). Mojomaster Zihi was a card created to be Druid hate by someone who I don’t think understands why Druid is good. Even if you equalize their mana with Zihi, it just brings any ramp stuck in their hand back into relevance and they beat you back to 10 mana. Also 6 mana is a lot to commit a 5/5 against Druid who is at the very least at 8 mana or more the turn before you’re dropping this. The symmetrical effect cannot be played for your favor which is why it’s really bad.
There was a 3 mana warlock demon that destroyed both yours and your opponents mana crystal. It wasn’t even close to a problem card.
@@jordanlutz8307 symmetrical de-ramp isn’t an issue because both sides suffer. I think doomkin is the first true one-sided de-ramp (besides I guess sword of a thousand truths but like come on)
no wild balances for warlock and rogue, literally no point in playing this dead game anymore
they have to do more than just demon seed and boat rogue.....literaly hundred of cards need to be nerf in wild

lmao what are you smoking, wild is fine. it's a high power format and there are plenty of decks that can compete with warlock and rogue. Wild doesn't need nerfs because you refuse to play meta. thats just a skill issue. if you want to play a game that goes past turn 7 than play standard because wild isn't that format
What rank are you playing in? Because unless you're high diamond into legend, every other on of my opponents has been running some slow, homebrewed deck that gets destroyed by the 1200 dust combo priest deck.
Honestly, combo priest needs a nerf if anything. I still win by turn 4 nearly every game I win.

It's Crazy how fast they fixed Druid compared to warlock, warrior, paladin in past expansions. In this case, this is one of the only ramping options for druid (a class known for ramping btw). Why can't blizzard be this quick with all emergency hotfix patches lol....Seems sketchy.

the heroes health in twist really confused me... my health always changed between 30 and 50 health and I had no idea why was that ...
so a new deck comes in a week and the only solution to make it not strong is to delete the whole class????

When I did rafamm it would always copy my opponents hp I thought it was some weird rafamm Easter egg but yeah caused problems when I went against someone with 25 hp

well I wasn't expecting that, it doesn't fix the issues i've had with whizbang's meta in general but I guess it stops the "every deck is druid or druid counter" period we just had

Yeah, they give him patch notes ahead of time. That's why it's in a document format this time, and previously he's stated that he's showing a patch notes page 'draft' that wasn't posted to the Blizzard news yet.

Wild Growth effectively costs 3 mana after you play Malfurion's Gift. Whelp gets the ramp cheaper and potentially one turn earlier. It also doesn't hurt to have a 1/1 body as a bonus, though that's the least important part of the card.
Because you can play it with wild growth. Thats why it should get removed.

I puzzled me how blizzard made a big deal about rotating ramp out of Druid’s standard… but wild growth and splish splash whelp still stayed in (and doom kin… but as someone who played doom kin in warlock w/o ramp, it’s not that bad)
you can still get it post ban from purified nest. so seems just a deck building ban

Mire Keeper, Jade Growth, Pilfered Power, Overgrowth, Biology Project and Widowbloom Seedsman didn't get nerfed.

Blessing in disguise for me. After getting Legend (first time) with Buff Paladin last month, I've been trying to learn Combo/Hybrid Druid and just not getting it. So, now I can just go back to Paladin.

I think the reason to shut down twist for a month is that they need a patch to remove previos mode and add another, but their patch schedule is not matching to 1st day of month. Technical issue, they can't do much about it. Especially when it's about their non-profit sandbox.
A few days ago I played a bunch of games. I had multiple games were a druid was on 9/10 mana and I was on 3/4.
It’s really bizarre how we’ve had consecutive balance patch snafus where a deck that shouldn’t have been left alone gets left alone and needs Emergency hot fixes. it’s not like dragon Druid is some week old deck that’s barely seeing played so you wanna hold back like Window DH or even Reno warrior.
The worst interaction in Twist is Tamsin which damages herself when uses here hero power it heal Xyrella.

At least without Fye, I wasn't able to climb with this. Doomkin always just felt like a huge tempo loss and I never drew my Troggs or titan in time.
And so I'm kind of glad that I can move on to something else probably without spending dust. 😅
It's strange, I've faced Thorim about 15 times and my opponents have never had a bugged Throim.

Doomkin would have been better, but I’m thrilled to see the meta shake up. The next few weeks before expansion were looking very un-fun otherwise.

I haven’t had to play a lot of splish-splash whelp so I don’t have a comment but 70% win rate is pretty crazy we’d seen alot less Reno after the nerf too and I’m not sure the win rate before and after but I can’t argue with dropping the win rate to make it more competitive

Feels really bizarre to me that Blizzard will say in one breath that they want to be more patient with balance changes because they’ve seen how rapid nerfs just leaves a power vacuum in the meta with Whizbang’s Workshop, but then in the next breath they’ll completely ban a card because a strong deck was abusing it.
Don’t get me wrong, Splish-Splash Whelp was problematic, but it really hurts my confidence in Blizzard’s ability to keep to their word if they can’t keep their “murder deck” boners in check for at least a normal patch cycle, ESPECIALLY because this came after a period where the deck’s data would be warped by anomalies.
Blizz said the first balance patch of Perils in Paradise will be at least 2 weeks post-launch, but I’m starting to think that they’re gonna just end up panicking and banning the first tier 1 deck that rises in the young meta.
I'm not that mad about the change, but how the fuck did paladin dodge this kind of ban after being the most annoying and toxic shit for more than a year now and Druid gets hit. Does aggro get a pass for this kind of bullshit ? Are we not allowed to have a match that goes longer than 7 turns ?
I come back to Hearthstone after a 6 years break. Spend all my dust one deck, and it gets banned the very same day xd

Any way I now use much more budget friendly Flood Paladin deck. I'm on a 12 win streak in gold rank, so I think I'll be climbing fine for foreseeable future.
Finally. Druidstone is maybe over for some time now.

This is part of why I quit Hearthstone. I just spend all of my dust 2 weeks ago to craft the druid ramp deck, and they're nerfing it again, basically destroying my dust. Same happened with my dragon priest and my highlander (brann) warrior. And what do they leave intact? Aggro. Of all the top decks on Hsreplay, druid is basically 1 of the 2 or 3 decks that are not tempo/aggressive. The first control deck on the list is like nr. 15.

I honestly wouldn't mind both taking a hit. Whelp 3 mana 2/2 (Wild Growth with a body) and Doomkin 7 mana 3/4. They'd still be unfun cards to play against, but much weaker.
EDIT: Honestly even 3 mana 1/1 would probably work. I suspect that will be the "fix" when it gets unbanned but with no Doomkin nerf.

As a Druid enjoyer this pass expansion has been genuinely awful because druids entire whizbang expansion was getting 3 cards that are insane in dragon druid no spell damage support because they thought it was a good idea to limit all of the best spell damage support to the Perils in Paridise mage cards at which point it will become the best deck in the game and get nerfed into the ground. Whoever thought of spell damage should be fired.

I just played after the Ban, and i can confirm the card is still being played in Standard, people are getting the card in there hand using the card Cactus Construct, i can confirm this it was played against me , they use Cactus Construct summon a 1/1 copy of it and then get it in their hand and play it on turn 2 still.
So... imagine logging into HS, not playing in years, seeing dragon druid as a potential list, crafted some cards and then getting annihilated by a ban, not even a nerf, no refund, no notice just a big f*ck you and your dust

Quitting hearthstone on their 10 year anniversary is tough, but i havent played for the past month and i havent felt any incentive ever since their increase of quest exp fiasco. I was so turned off by that event that i just quit, which sucks bc i otherwise still love hearthstone and miss the game i once played

I truly believe that they have like 2 people who dont work in expqnsions and work in maintenance of the game and we see the consequences of that
Honestly can't really get into the game this past month, there is no variety just the same decks and most are just toxic mana cheat, steal your most expensive card in play or I win cards. I miss slow attrition at least you had time to to build towards something, now there is no support for cards that cost 8+ because you lose or they get removed from your deck before you play them.

The fact that this is a problem is wild. Either classes have mana cheat or they dont. I miss the old days where the meta could see control decks try to stabilize by turn 5-6. There wasnt infinite value like now, 1 card all of a sudden turns onto you ending your turn with a full hand and board its just nuts the stupid combos. And dont get me started on the otk decks that you can do nothing about you just watch yourself take 40+ and have no way to stop it..... Definitely not participating still in this game it is just too much now into games have to end in 4 minutes or people get upset.

Splish Splash Whelp wasn't ban worthy imo. It just needed to go up a mana and get its original stats back. Doomkin is the nightmare causer right now. Druids do be ramping. You can't stop that and we have to let them have SOME fun and Splish Splash Whelp is probably the least problematic body they've stuck a Wild Growth to in a while apart from how cheap it is. Seedsman was more obnoxious than this. Doomkin makes you unable to play the game and it's basically everything everyone hated about Alignment Druid on sticks.

I mean if you've heard the stories from ex-Blizzard employees you've probably heard about how they see QA and how they treat them so it's not surprising shit doesn't get tested enough or even fixed when caught in their games.
Doomkin should never be able to be played in any deck except control maybe, to slow down the aggressive decks.

Well when they collectively have brain damage as a company and make the rational decision to nerf old standard druid ramp cards up a mana cost only to randomly revert them for no justifiable reason who's surprised that printing even more busted ramp cards is a dumb idea???

Doomkin needs to be changed to taking full mana crystals, even if they got the extra mana the same turn, at least there is some agency to play around it by using all of your mana. Banning it is also fine, but if they wanted a way to maybe fix it. Also, it couldn't be repeated multiple times with dorian unless you had multiple unused crystals. The whole point of druid is to ramp, whelp should exist, it is the stealing ramping that is the problem.
Might as well ban the druid class instead. Incompetent devs are not capable of balancing something so they completely disable an entire class just so that the "meta" can thrive. Great job Blizzard and HS team, keep up the good work!

As a Druid player I would have preferred doomkin ban. It feels more toxic to play in ramp Druid. Splash splash being ban does make my hero power/spell damage Druid a bit worse but not severely
