Absolutely true,as brilliant as john candy was in that movie without jean louisa there's no way " uncle buck" would of become the iconic cult classic it became. The "Tia" caracter embodied the 80's teen,that's not something that can ever be replicated.
Jean Louis Kelly is super-gorgeous. Great film btw. Great chemistry between John Candy and Jean Kelly. Whole cast is good. Not the greatest fan of Macaulay Culkin, but he is good in this, as was a young Gabby Hoffmann.

@kristinroelofson4152 yes, Tia undergoes quite a metamorphosis, if that's the right word. One of my favourite authors said that all the major characters in a story should change during the course of it. Buck changes as well.

I love how Buck is wearing bright colored clothes to resemble his warm, loving personality and Tia is wearing dark clothes to resemble her dark, bitter attitude. It’s small stuff like this that makes me really appreciate John Hughes’s movies
