YOU see that wild card you see that! This what it cost them nvidia companies to create 3 generations of cards to be this powerful to just run roughly perfectly smooth for 4k just 4k with the highest strongest gaming video card in the world.
4090 is such a beast, compared to any other card that came before it... I still remember when i got my 2080 Super, and how that was an upgrade from my 1060 before that... That can't compare what has happened with the 4090... :P
For the next Ark testing use Ambient Occlusion. It beats my 3080ti up. I usually get 120 fps on average and the highest I've hit was 160 but with ambient occlusion it cuts that in half.
I think it's PC dependent, AO maybe drops my fps by 15fps with a 3080 at 4k or 1440p, but General Shadows dropping that to High and turning off distant field shadowing it gives me the fps the 4090 gets at 4k Epic, and it barely looks worse since I'm not looking at shadows across the map
Wow. So we finally have a GPU that can actually handle ARK at 4K on Epic settings. I've been waiting for this day since 2017 when I bought my GTX 1080 Ti with the intention of playing at 4K. LOL.
yep, might need rtx 5090 ti or something to get 144 fps at 4k, but then again there's finally a gpu that can get 60+ fps on epic in ark in 4k so that's amazing
I remember when ARK came out and I could only dream of running it on my PC with a 970… now we’re here at 4k ultra with over 60fps. I just bought a 4090, maybe it’s time to finally play this game lol
I run ARK at 1080p 70-80 fps not maxed out tho as I often play pvp and it makes it difficult to spot other players but still graphics are on high, just shadows and some other stuff I put on low as it gets really difficult to see in the dark
Please test ARK in difficult conditions, for example, near huge bases, in caves, and so on. And all this is on online servers, not on a local one, because tests on local servers do not give a correct idea of the performance of components. PS would really like to see a 4070ti test paired with a 7600x and/or 7800x3d processor under the conditions described above.
That's is quite the uplift from my gtx 1080 lol. I have been keeping my eye out trying to find someone testing ark with an fps counter on for what seems like years lol. My gtx 1080 gets around 50 fps at 1440p btw, but there are big dips every so often
Cope harder, your gtx 1080 ain't getting 50fps average at native 1440p epic settings, even the 1080ti does not. 4090 would have gotten over 200fps if the 1080 got 50fps. 4090 gives 3.5 times the fps of the 1080ti without upscaling from what I have seen.
There's very little point in playing Ark above 1080p. The textures are not high enough quality to make any difference at resolutions above that. Some of the effects and lighting and such might be slightly improved, but it's really not worth it.
Was expecting more, with field shadows to medium and all maxed out I get roughly 65 fps on 4k with the 3090, that been said, will do me goof till next gen, thanks
I also have a 4090 and was wondering why you were getting 90fps compared to my 60-70.. And I found out that in your test you arent using Film Grain, Distance Field Ambient Occlusion, Enhanced Max View Distance. Try enabling those for true "Max Settings". Enhanced Max View Distance does make a pretty big difference, you can see a lot more details on things like trees from far away Once I changed my settings to match yours I was seeing 90s
Don't blame your gpu but instead blame the developer for the stupid optimization of the game, and after dozens of major and minor updates the game still doesn't run smoother and it just keeps like that after all these years of development.
zen4,alderlake and raptorlake which are only rebranded alderlake would bottleneck 4090 too at 1080 and 1440p so basically you need cpu from 2025/26 to run gpu from 2022 at maximum
