I remember the day she was shot. I was working at a news outlet in New York and every report we got from sources in Tucson said she wouldn't survive. She was likely to die. We even started writing her obituary. And here she still is. She survived. I'm still amazed.

I was sitting in a Kung Fu dojo with other horrified parents when news broke. The SiGong didn’t know what happened, and later he said that he felt the air change in the space, where we were all struggling not to start sobbing in front of the children’s class…. Gun violence is a horror with which Americans are far too familiar. It’s obvious that gun legislation desperately needs to be improved- Nobody wants a madman/woman loose in their community armed and dangerous! The time has come (many years ago) to fix the problem of gun violence!

Most of us cannot fathom the mindset it takes to methodically plan to end someone’s life- like the murderer who killed Shinzo Abe- or the nut 🥜 who almost ended ended Gabby’s. I wish these people would take as much time to seek help instead of plotting to hurt 😔 others. She still has retained her beautiful smile 😃 and unwavering optimism! So happy she has a great 👍 husband to support her!😍🙏
I think one of the most horrifying parts of having a brain injury like that is the way people talk to you afterward. The way doctors talk to you like a child, even your own loved ones. You are no longer referred to subconsciously as on the same level by them. She is probably aware of this at some level, repressed or not. Either way, she has a strong will, I hope she continues to recover
