@@Firemarioflower What the fuck? Verstappen is the one who was not at fault in the crash. What should he have done? If you would have looked at the crash more than once you would have noticed that Ver and Vet barely/never touch, still Vet crashes with Raikkonen. Vettel turned left way too early and way too hard. Neither Verstappen nor Raikkonen could have expected that. If Verstappen turned right to give Raikkonen more space Vet and Ver would have crashed and if Verstappen turned left he would have pushed Raikkonen into the wall. Even Raikkonen knew it was Vettels fault.

looks like they are looking at this race again after Baku...
That first 45 seconds is probably one of my favourite Crofty commentary bits, probably second after Belgium 2018
Seb won races after this, but I think this race marked the moment he started to lose his mojo. He tried to defend a position that wasn't under threat. It's not something you expect from a multiple championship winner.
I thought the same but even further back in Azerbaijan during the safety car he claimed Hamilton brake tested him during the safety car and just drove into the side of him like a child. I think he was buckling under pressure even then
@@GM_FtblA that was when his ability started cracking and his temper started seeping through his helmet
He defended against a car moving up the inside into turn one. If you're saying his position was under no threat, you're joking or lying.
@@h.a.9880 But that was Verstappen, not Hamilton. Why defend so aggressively against someone who's not in the title fight? I'm not saying he should just let him go, but he should've been more measured.
@@tuffmanchannel That makes no sense whatsoever. Should he let everyone pass as long as they're not Hamilton? How do you get a title that way? You have to fight for every position against everyone that attempts to take it away.
And that's what he did, however Räikkönen was having such an amazing start, passing Verstappen even further inward of the corner, the three drivers simply ran out of space and no one is to blame.
Räikkönen wanted to make the most of his amazing start, so he tried to go past Verstappen on the inside.
Vettel wanted to defend against Verstappen, so he moved to the side and put him under pressure.
Verstappen, at this point, had nowhere to go, got sandwiched and the rest is history.
Hindsight is 20/20 and it's easy to watch a couple slo-mo shots to figure out what was going on, but F1 drivers don't have this luxury. From Vettel's perspective, his position got challenged, he wanted to defend against that and suddenly his car gets a violent thump while his teammate and competitor spin out of the race in ruined cars.
What a Year to be a mclaren fan... just look at alonso's start
Don't worry, your team will be dominant in five years

james manson I wouldn't really blame Vettel. From what I've seen it was a far too risky and stupid move by Vettel but I do actually think it was mainly Kimi's fault, he was pretty much side-by-side with Verstappen (who obviously couldn't do anything) and then he went to the right just a bit which caused his right rear to fall off and created a massive chain reaction with these four retiring

Niels Heldens wtf1 official
Here is my verdict on the accident in what has been a crazy Singapore gp.
Vettel got a bad start when compared to max and max had a medicore start when compares to kimi.
Sebastian seeing that max is closing on him does his trademark, micheal Schumacher esque, pit wall squeeze.
At this point kimi, as he had the best start of everybody, is pretty much alongside max and is up against the edge of the track. He can only see max and is oblivious to vettle squeezing the pair of them.
Max is in the middle of the track so he can see both Sebastian and kimi and knows he is about to get pincered so he tries to back off (check the telemetry) but as the rear tyres are bigger than the fronts max was screwed, the rest is history.
IMO it is vettel's fault he took a big risk squeezing max and he hoped nobody was on max's inside but kimi was there. It is cause and effect if vettel did not squeeze no accident would have happened.
Also, rip Alonso he could have been in second. Hamilton had a beast of a start in second gear. Now, if there aren't any more mechanical failures Lewis has won this championship. The 28 point lead covers the 14 points lewis could lose at the tracks mercedes are not strong at ie Mexico, Abu dhabi
Daniel O Would you even try to expect the guy from 4th place be right next to you? I wouldn't. That's why he instantly decided to squeeze Verstappen. But the rest was good analysis.
blood yeah but at least expect Ricciardo. Vettel tried to do what lewis did in monza to stroll but because ge was too slow off the line the couldn't do it
It's nobody's fault..it was just a racing incident that unfortunately has seriously dented Vettel's championship hopes.
what does blocking/squeezing after race start have to do with schumacher?
every polesitter does/has done this in every race ever if he has/had a bad start.
Vettel was desperate for the lead, also he has an interesting "Relationship" with Verstappen given how they battled in Silverstone so he wasn't going to give up the lead especially to him, he took a gamble he lost, if he gets blamed it will be fair, if he doesn't it won't be surprising though.
I cant believe Ferrari is blaming Max Verstappen for this crash. My take is that Vettel realized that Verstappen had a better start than him so only logical thing for him to do was to shift over into Verstappen's lane and in the process forced Verstappen into Kimi's lane.
It was Verstappen's fault he hitted Raikkonen. If he backed off there would've been no accident.
@@xBatboys4 if vettel wasnt this aggressive there would have not been an accident? Surely the tactic "we will squeeze verstappen and then have a double lead" is the way to go
But karma ruled it with the championsship
@@xxmisterxx6957 Knowing Verstappen's driving style there probably would've been an accident even if Vettel was not there. But anyway i agree on that Vettel was dumb for squeezing on the first lap when he was in a championship lead. But he had the right to do it. He gave everyone still enough space. Even though it was the minimum. Verstappen just drove to the left and hitted Raikkonen so it is Verstappen's fault.
starting your Argument with "Knowing Verstappen's driving style" just shows how subjectiv your point of view is. Don't assume anything just 3 guys driving, and you will notice something. If you still think the same, we have different opinions and it's fine. I just think you are either a Vettel fan or you don't like Verstappen and your opinion is based on that
@@xxmisterxx6957 Yes i dislike Verstappen ALOT. But that has nothing to do with it. I just think its his fault. Last year when it happened i thought it was Vettels fault, but now that i see it again like 10 times. I think its Verstappen's fault. Vettel had the right to squeeze.

3:58 where the hell is sector 9? I never knew Singapore was that long 😂
Crofty probably was referring to a marshalling sector. The sectors we usually know about are timing sectors which there are 3 in a circuit. But marshals need more precision in sectors to more accurately report or communicate where an incident has happened, so they have more, usually 20. Crofty probably saw in his interface or something that the marshalling sector 9 had an incident and just said it instinctively.

Yep, he would have been on P2 after restart but Ricciardo and Bottas surely had the pace to get passed him.
I don't think so. Yes maybe he can protect his second or third place when the track is wet but when it is dry he will eventually get swallowed by the Ferraris and Red Bulls
Nah, the engine would have blown
Vandoorne proved that the engine was running fine last night.
Reaching to P1 is quite simple but staying at P1 and keeping the lead throughout race is most difficult.

I think for a Grand Prix on a Street circuit damn good 9/10
1. Just like Spa 2016, Kimi makes an amazing start and gets f**ked for it.
2. Personally not a fan, but no bones about it - Hamilton simply cannot be beaten in the wet. His skill in these conditions were enough to compensate for any shortcomings the W08 had (long wheelbase, high downforce etc.). I'm pretty sure Ricciardo would have had him if it was dry, but it was wet, and that made all the difference.
3. Carlos Sainz - Well done, mate, a drive to be proud of. All the best at Renault. I hope to see more of the same.
P.S. I'm starting to feel like Alonso's got the voodoo or something. It's like he has a f**king bull's eye on him. He made a great start (usual) and as a result, ended up in the exact place he needed to be to get hit. Man!
