This is the video for me, because I’m pretty much done with eyeshadow pallets. I just don’t have the time or ability anymore so one and done is perfect!
I’m with you! I love the idea of a beautiful palette, but these days I just pull one color out of the palettes that I own. It’s been a long time since I used 2 or more colors in the same look.
Same here! Time was when I could spend a half hour sculpting and highlighting from a palette, now, while I still have my palettes, I often go for the one and done, or one and a highlight on the inner corner or browbone.
I highly recommend Phytosurgence too! They aren't in this video but they're a small indie brand with the best one and done cream single shadows I've ever used and I've used ALOT.
My eyes are the exact same way. I always have struggled with sunscreens burning my eyes, until I tried a Korean sunscreen for the first time. I currently use Isntree hyaluronic acid sunscreen, both the stick and the regular formula, and neither one burns my eyes. It sits well under makeup for me as well!
Same!! I tired over 35 sunscreens in 2 years trying to find one that didn’t burn my eyes…once I found K Beauty I never looked back - they are the only ones that work for me
I find I am turning more and more to one and done eyeshadows, too. A good list to consider. I know you can't mention every possible single eyeshadow but I highly recommend the Milani gilded eyeshadow sticks. They give just a little sparkle without the fallout and come in a range of colors. And you mentioned this one, the Charlotte Tilbury eyes to mesmerize. It is my favorite in a pot to use. I have at least 4 of the colors and use them frequently. People mention they dry out but I have had them for more than a year and they have not dried out with me.
Hi Kelly, use a mineral sunscreen or sunscreen stick for the eyes if you experience the burn. I have sensitive eyes too and use Cera Ve spf 50 mineral stick for my eyes, makeup looks great on top. Hope that helps!
It doesn’t even look neutral on her! It looks very orange/peachy both in the pot and on her lids. I’m very confused by her describing it as a taupe when it looks like a warm tan.
@@xqueenfrostine I agree, it looks warm tan on her, too. None of Merit's products look how they are described on me- the pink lipsticks look warm and dull and make me look dead, and the "taupe," brown, and plum ones are very warm on me, with Studio looking like it should be called "burnt orange" instead.
I like a fast look with a one and done shadow, however, 99% of the time I use a palette. I don't use 100 colors, just enough, depending on my mood and the look. I love the 'ritual' of applying it; I love the blending process, especially when it's more than one matte color; I love to see how the colors will blend and how they'll look. And the little sparkle at the end. ❤ I know it takes time, but once you get use to it, it’s not too long. I don't spend hours applying makeup either. I just like my palettes, even on no-makeup makeup days.
I love the idea of one and done eyeshadows, but I just use the shadows I already have in palettes. So many of those shades are one and done, whether neutral or colorful.
I think mid tone shades are perfect for this reason. I tend to just use a mid tone shade or bronzer. With my finger, then blend out the edges with a brush. Depending on the shade and finishing, it can change how the shadow looks on the eye. If I'm feeling fancy, I'll add a darker shadow for a liner or a shimmer over top for more dimension.
Hi Kelly I'm new to your channel, I found out about you through Angela Bright! I HAD to comment on this video because you got near and dear to my heart with those gorgeous shimmers, glitters and sparkle!!!! As you can tell by my RUclips name I L.O.V.E. sparkle, love it, love it, love it and WOW the D.M tubes of shadow you showed and the stain glass ones 😍😍😍😍😍😍 they are GORGEOUS!!!!!! I never have thought about using my diamond highlighters as shadow though, 🤔 so I may have to try that! I just did the blush on my eyes and cheeks technique this morning and LOVED how it turned out!! Thank you for this video!!
I really fancy the idea of using eyeshadow sticks for a one and done look, but unfortunately my super oily eyelids disagree 😅 even if I use just one powder eyeshadow, it still takes me five minutes because I need to set my eyelid before I go in with eye primer. I can only dream 😂
@@jessabeauty917 yes, I do go in with setting powder before applying eye primer. I don't wanna risk and go buy tons of eyeshadow sticks just to find one that ~maybe~ could work for me :(
Hot tip: the Urban Decay Moondust Shadow in the shade Cosmic is an exact dupe for the Fenty Diamond Bomb! I love the Diamond Bomb, but I always bring Cosmic for travel because it's so tiny and travels well - plus it's half the price. I hope this helps someone out there! 💜✨
Love the one and done shadows!! And for the European girlies that want that sparkly look like urban decay, the kiko milano bright duo eyeshadow in the shade metallic white/true gold is very simillar!! It can be a sparkle topper or more of a true silver/gold look, and it's pretty cheap too. But the formula is fragile, so be careful hahahaha.
one of my favorite single eye products is the Jcat beauty pris metal chrome mousse in the shade chrome crusher. It’s so pretty and I just use my finger. I also like the rare beauty eye sticks
Just a note, for the Clionadh shadows, their most expensive shades (like Exothermic) are 25 CAD, so the price is closer to 18 USD. They are still on the pricer side, but they are so beautiful if you are looking for something extra.
I've always been a fan of one and done eyeshadow and most of my favourites have been discontinued. Except the kiko shadow sticks. I still have some of my favourite shades from the days when people were raving about them as dupes for the by terry ombre black star shadow sticks. I recently bought a few new shades because they still make them and the price is still good.
Why is the Nikki foundation brush sold out every time BK has a sale? I think I have permanently lost interest at this point. I almost always use my fingers anyway!
In the Danessa Myricks vein, I highly rec Sydney Grace's cream shadows - only $8 a tube and also with a gorgeous range of super shiny neutrals and colors, including some multichromes. I always use eye primer, but with that prep I've found them to be budgeproof until I'm ready to take them off (not nearly as difficult to remove as the ELF Budgeproof lol). My favorite is Master Plan, what I call a shifty unicorn pink-mint green; the photos on the site don't do it justice. My Bond is also incredible.

Judydoll have a highlighter that's a good dupe from what I hear if anyone is reading this. It looks so good, and with it being cheap I wouldn't mind if it only works in certain areas.

Ritz by colourpop (super shock) is a really pretty topper shimmer bordering on full on glitter. I get glitter fallout from it a bit but I don’t mind bc it’s so pretty on its own.i say shimmer only bc the glitter particles are more spread out than ladybird, for example. I have them both and they’re much different from each other.
I too find that sunscreens make my eyes water but I have found Korean sunscreens to work wonders. But Isntree and Beauty of Joseon have wonderful SPF 50 sunscreens that I even wear when working out. Both companies are cruelty free though not Leaping Bunny certified.
Kelly! Phytosurgence. Their eyeshadows, especially the newest ones, are amazing! Everything from that brand is, but I almost exclusively wear their eyeshadows now.
I swear by Lisa Eldridge's Liquid Lurex, especially in hot weather. It doesn't budge for me. Also get significant longevity from Half Magic Beauty's Chromaddiction mattes and most of the shimmers.
One and dones for my light-med skintone + yellow undertone: 1) Essence Nothing Compares to Nude - choose ur matte or shimmer shade 2) CP Supershock in Runyon - pinky peach nude satin 3) CP Supershock in Amaze - sparkly, but not too sparkly champagne w slighty pink beige undertone (the CP dupe for UD Space Cowboy, Ritz, has too orange of a base) 4) Dieverune multichrome palette - choose ur shade. For if u only want transparent sparkle, but also transform mattes. 😍 Not cheap, but cheaper than buying 6 multichrome toppers from other high quality multichrome brands. Shades are magnetic to too. Discontinued, but if u have them: CP all matte quad She's A Natural, mattes in Glamlite Choco Martini.
I love the Moira Beauty cream shadow pots. The EVERLUST SHIMMER CREAM SHADOW pots and LASTING PRIMING CREAM SHADOW pots are amazing! Creamy, easy to work with and I have these in many shades.....Love love love them! And I did pick up the Fenty Diamond Bomb. That is a product I use everyday for a bit of sparkle on the eyes. I've had it for months and haven't made a dent! It's Gorgeous!
Kelly, I love your makeup in this video. You glow, not in an overpowering way but like you are lit from within. How did you achieve your look? Which makeup did you use for foundation, blush, lips, eyes?
The elf no budge eyeshadow I had (in the purple shade) was different texture from yours. It was very firm, hard to blend and IMPOSSIBLE to remove from my brushes.
Are the About Face Eye Paints waterproof? I'm always looking for bright, fun colors for summer that I can wear on days when I'm going out and want to wear makeup, but I'll also likely end up in the pool. 💦☀️
My favorite matte one and done is actually a Colourpop Supershock shadow called Bills. I wish they’d make more as the formula is beautiful, soft and airlight. And lasts all day. But instead of more colours,… i think they have discontinued this only one. Very sad
Hello. I really like the MAC cream shadow in the matte color, Groundwork and Tayler Grey. As of shimmer, there is a lot : in cream pot formula I really like the Lise Watier soufflé and the RMS in tube as well. I also like the Kiko Milano cream shadow. I recently tride the Oulac ones and really like them as well. I did not liked the Elf formula. As for Colourpop, I decluttered them all as they dry out too quickly.
You should try Moira’s cream and powder shadows! They terrific! Also, MOB Beauty makes a fantastic eyeshadow with great colors (I’m a neutral lover too) and awesome staying power.
Love this Kelly! At this point in my life, I just don’t use my eye palettes anymore as I just want a quick, easy, natural eye look so on the daily I’m just using bronzer and my blush in my crease and then throwing on a topper on. I just don’t have the time or inclination to do a complicated 2016 eye look with 5 different shadows. And when I travel, palettes are one less thing I have to pack. Thank you so much!!

I'm shocked you don't have creasing issues with the supergoop shimmershade. It creases like heck on me and doesn't dry down, although I LOVE it as a highlighter.
I love Matte 1 and done color with a little wing liner. I have really wrinkly eyes and most shadow sticks crease and look terrible though. The Colourpop matte eyeshadow sticks are THE BEST and I rarely see them talked about. Bear With Me and Cocktail Party 👏 I also really like Laura Mercier’s shadow stick in Carmel.
So Pretty is definitely underrated. It also comes in a liquid sparkle wash formula. I have both formulas. It’s definitely deserves to go viral! It’s a unique warm silver with a complex variety of other tiny, colorful sparkles, and it’s super wearable. Bobbi Brown knows how to come up with the most unique shades.
Good job. ❤ very informative. Gonna have to play with my shadows and think outside the box like the original highlighters from rare beauty. I use blush and bronzer already but have some new ideas. Thanks Kelly
I also have SUPER watery eyes, have you tried using a separate sunscreen balm/stick around your eyes? That works way better for me than using my gel or cream sunscreen!
I have 4 different ELF cream eyeshadows and love all of them! They sheer out if you want them, I use them as a base and put sparkles on top. And, I agree, they are NO budge! I need to check on the app. If they’re getting rid of them I better get the colors I don’t already own.
I never expected to love the merit solo shadows but I own almost all of them. They wear like iron, even on my relatively oily lids. You don’t have a ton of playtime but I’ve been able to successfully incorporate them into looks w/ other shadows, but they look good either way.
One of the best formulas I’ve encountered in a liquid eyeshadow is from Gensee Beauty. Those are worth every penny. They last well, they actually show up on my dark eyelids and do not really crease throughout the day.
I use revlon eye shadow crème as a one and done…I have 4 of their colors. I use my finger and tada. I’ve been using them for years and even had to replace because they so long. (50 yr old).
Great video Kelly! Thank you! I went to elf and all their Matte cream shadows are gone except white in the pot and one color in the shadow stick mattes! Im so sad because i was going to get a couple more with my next order!
I need a one and done in a stick form. I have long nails I find it difficult getting a precise look and the cream in the corner of my eye with nails. I wish I could find a dupe to strapless by Laura Mercier. ❤
Ι've got a bit of a silly question. Do you need to prep your eyelid and/or set the creamier shadows? I have somewhat oily lids so if I don't prep/set, the shadow migrates to my crease and sets up shop there. If I do prep/set, the shadow gets stiff and crumbly and it looks like I've been beaten. What am I doing wrong?
This is the video for me, because I’m pretty much done with eyeshadow pallets. I just don’t have the time or ability anymore so one and done is perfect!

My favorite is the skin1004 sunscreen! It has HA, has the texture of a light moisturizer, and no white cast!

Asian sunscreens are so good! I hate the chemical smell that the ones in he U.S. have.

The Colourpop matte eyeshadow sticks are THE BEST and I rarely see them talked about. Bear With Me and Cocktail Party 👏 I also really like Laura Mercier’s shadow stick in Carmel.
If I were a product, I would be this
What the heck are "vegan" hairs? Anyway, great eyeshadow colors.
They're synthetic instead of coming from animals :)
Even though the ELF was $2.50, I returned 2. Looked super crusty on my 50 yo eyes!
How does hourglass in smoke compare to RMS eye lights in strobe?
The colourpop jelly shadow is amazing, don’t sleep on the cheap products!
Have you tried the elf no budge sticks? Can’t find the pots anywhere but sticks are sold near me
I never expected to love the merit solo shadows but I own almost all of them.
Supergoop has an eye SPF I recommend it to everyone. Shiseido used to make one I used for years but they stopped making it 😢
Love your videos ❤
I use revlon eye shadow crème as a one and done…I have 4 of their colors. I use my finger and tada. I’ve been using them for years and even had to replace because they so long. (50 yr old).
The about face don’t last. They fade quickly and crease. I haven’t repurchased the few I used up for that reason
I don’t know if they have a lot of neutrals, but 3ina is super cheap and their sticks are my fave for one and done eyeshadows.
Been using my charlotte tilbury for 2 years now and I love it!
For oily eyelids, the ELF no budge eyeshadow pots do crease, at least on me, so I usually dust a little powder over it.
My fav one and done is the Maybelline single shadows in shades dusty rose and nude glow. I found mine in walmart
Yassss.
Iv been using my social studio for a month. Curious what is out there or if I get a new shade.
That merit is great for mature eyes. I love it. I have it in social too it’s a beautiful color.
Same, so I just continue to use my Too Faced shadow insurance primer before cream shadows too.
Loved the merit but it dried out so fast. Barely used any
