- FOUR CHANGES? | Liverpool predicted XI vs Sheffield United
Liverpool must defend their new position at the top of the Premier League when they face Sheffield United at Anfield.
But, having come through a tough fixture against Brighton on Sunday and with a weekend trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on the horizon, Jurgen Klopp faces a tough team selection.
With that in mind, Reds reporter David Lynch has examined the options and picked out a starting XI he believes should face the Blades.
That is line-up that features four changes, with tweaks in defence, midfield, and the attack.

I would rest Bradley, Konaté, Macca, Dom and Diaz for United game. Sheffield is the worst team in the league, so this lineup is good enough to beat them.
The midfield is awful, this selection is very risky, you only introduce gravenberch and Elliott when we are up 2-0

I’ll say we should start strong, and substitute and rest players only after we’re relatively safe, eg we’re ahead by at least 2 goals.

Important we get Gakpo scoring who has done well against Utd before. I like him, he is rapid too. Diaz needs a rest, I reckon he starts Harvey Elliott, Gakpo and Salah up top. With Nunez and Diaz coming off the bench.

Not sure I’d rest nunez. Maybe give him 60 to get a bit of confidence and a goal or two. However I do actually think danns deserves to be ahead of gakpo at this moment. Might be a mad shout but gakpos effort has not been good enough to deserve to start.
That’s a fair shout. I just worry about the muscle issues he’s had this season and the fact Sunday will come around so soon.

We are 6 goals behind Arsenal on the goal difference front so this could be an opportunity to close that a bit. Good to see players coming back from injury strengthening the squad. I think Klopp will utilise 15 or 16 players on Thursday to get everyone up and running.
Bad news for you! Arsenal play at home to luton on wednesday night first so the goal difference may well be 11 by the time we play Sheffueld united

Agree with you on all except Darwin / Gakpo. Do think this will be a planned sub at 60 min regardless of the score. I think diaz nunez and salah need to find rhythm.
I don't think Allison will walk back into the side when he is fit. Kelleher has been immense and needs to be respected on a par with Allison.
I would love it if he stays, no way should we sell for less than £40/50 million.
This is a dilemma for Klopp. Do we go with our strongest 11 to try to catch Arsenal's goal difference or does he rest the best players for MU? I think he'll do the latter. It doesn't look like any of the injured players will be back for MU besides Jones, so I'd maybe give him 45 mins on Thursday. My 11 to start would be: Kelleher, Tsimikas, Konate, Quansah, Bradley, Jones, Szoboszlai, Elliott, Nunez, Gakpo, Danns. Mo looked off it Sunday and maybe needs to be managed after his injury, Nunez was rubbish but this might give him confidence. If he can't score against these he should be left out once Jota is back. Diaz ran himself into the ground so let's give young Danns a start.

Liverpool should treat ALL the 9 remaining matches as a cup final. Get ur strongest 11 out in the 1st half. If u score 2-3 goals in the 1st half, then bring in 3-5 subs from 60th minute. Gravenberch needs to stand out with some 20 minute cameos before he starts games - he's not even close unfortunately

Last game against united I thought that endo was not good enough. Idk if he was tired or something but we need him to be up for it. Also I'd like quansah to start against Sheffield because I want konate starting against united.

Oh dear. I was with you all the way until you brought up Gakpoo. Not one of my favourites and I think a limping Nunez on a crutch gives more effort and creates more than Gakpoo.
Lynchy I don’t believe this is going to be an easy game, so why not start with the strongest available 11 and try get the job done as early as possible then make changes.
