I actually think this movie would be better if the twist was that Spindly Johnny was made by the Scooby Doo video game student, rather than the baseball kid. He added all the baseball references to frame the other kid, because he was jealous of him being the prized student. Then he doesn't get arrested, because he didn't actually mean to harm anyone (which has been done in Scooby Doo before. A few of the bad guys got off scot-free). Just some spit-balling.

The Phantom Virus/Spindly Johnny looks like a villain from Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. He fits that style so well.

And the worst part is that when Scoob & friends destroyed the Phantom Virus & returned back from being inside the video game, the villian whose responsible for creating the Phantom Virus was questioning on who created the Phantom Virus. I was like " You dumbass! It was you! Why did you ask that question if you don't want to get caught? ".

There actually is an episode of "What's New Scooby Doo?" where they split up differently, where Shaggy teams up with Fred for a change. However, they all decide never to do it again as they don't have a single thing in common and totally fail to make any conversation that lasts longer than three sentences.

Rewatching this, I just realized something.
They're in a video game, with the creators of the game nearby. Why couldn't they use cheat codes or console commands or program some superpowers for the gang or something.
Saints Row The Third handled this plot better. And that was for a one-off mission.

Perhaps the developers didn't make any cheat codes or console commands. I mean, one was dumb enough to make a virus that shared an obsession with him.
They should have made the Phantom Virus mess with the game’s code and make the creators unable to do any of the things you mentioned. It would then make sense why the gang would need to get through the whole game and beat the Virus to escape.
If the game they were making was meant as a homage to Scooby-doo, how come the levels dont resemble actual episodes from the show?

Actually I just came up with a reason of how to fix the "They can't leave unless they play the game thing" Why not have the virus sabotaged a laser so it stopped working and then have him appear telling both the scientists and the Scooby gang that the Scooby gang aren't going anywhere until they beat his game?
Much better, but I think instead of beating the game, it’s more runing away til it’s fixed.

Just imagine, you're in an expedition inside an ancient pyramid, all alone, you see those statues throughout the game, some are just statues, others are enemies that will kill you, and at the beginning of the game you can tell them apart easily 'cause the statue ones are visibly broken and have missing parts, but as the game goes on, it becomes very hard to tell them apart, so you have to either trust your instinct or be super cautious about inspecting them
So, a bit like a mix between Eternal Darkness and the lesser known, but apt gem; Curse: The eye of Isis?

I actually like that movie. Jim Carey went through a ton of shit to put that costume on, it took like 5 hours to get it on and what he had to do inside of the costume earned my respect for the guy.

Never thought about it before watching this old video, but the Phantom Virus was *only programmed* to be scary, so it makes sense it would not go for the kill.
I have a theory, Spindly Jhonny isn't a virus, it's a bug, it isn't as threating as a virus, only exists to ruin your shit and enjoys it. Now, the baseball character of Spindly Johnny, it might be an early character of the baseball guy's game he created to test the game during early development, then he left it unused on the final game, since it was made to test the game it didn't have advanced textures, so when he wanted to fuck up the Scooby-Doo game he changed the textures and model to something more "scary", materialized the character and created Spindly Johnny, a villain who doesn't attack anything, is only an annoyance and is poorly made.

If this movie had been more clever I would've figured the black-haired lab kid was the actual bad guy behind it - like he'd gotten tired of his lazy lab partner always riding his and his prof's coattails and so decided to frame him with a dangerous virus. So the gang would false accuse him and the other guy would think he's in the clear until something incriminating comes up...or something.
That would explain how the spindly Johnny knows all the areas of the levels and managed to get all of the monsters on his side

I always thought Zombie Island was the most terrifying scooby doo movie ever. It used to give me nightmares as a kid.

Can you honestly find anything THAT scary in Scooby Doo?! I don't take Scooby Doo seriously anymore. Those days are over...but Zombie Island manages to give me the creeps to this day. Credit where credit is due, cause I think that was the actual intent, and they did an incredible fucking job with that!

...Do these people seriously not think game developers test their own games?! What do they think game testers are for?! No game is impossible. It can be incredibly difficult and almost impossible, sure, but there's always a way to beat a game. I'm siding with Caddy for this one on all of the things as well. Like...seriously, even when I was a kid, I found this thing stupid and nonsensical.
Well Scott Cawthon couldn't beat 20/20/20/20 in FNaF, and has even pronounced doing so as impossible, so where's the excuse?

That's no excuse; if you want to make a mode the player is not meant to win but is still fun, you make it a sort of "survival run", where instead of trying to reach the end, the mode is programmed to only end when the player dies (as opposed to ending at 6 AM, as even 4-20 mode did). The only excuse Scott has is that he made the game almost all on his own (and I *think* it was one of his first games, too, but don't quote me on that).

That was Billy West as Shaggy in Zombie Island, not Scott Innes. He played Scooby in that movie, but didn't play Shaggy until the next movie, Witches Ghost, when West didn't reprise the role.

I can't stop laughing whenever Caddy does things exaggerated/funny/frustrated. I'm the terrible human being that laugh when someone swears and I can't help it, but it makes this very entertaining!

Yeah I read that story, only for someone to beat the game on that difficulty a week after release. Gamers for you, they are unstoppable.
the big issue with this movie for me is the same with almost every other movie or tv show episode that uses the "characters are stuck in a video game" concept. they never use the concept well! why not put in some stuff that looks like it could actually be in a video game? maybe a bug (that actually ACTS like a bug mind you, not some glorified villain or monster) or some level design that uses some actual logic? how about a gag where the characters have trouble with invisible walls, or where any injury they get can be instantly healed by food? they only use the concept to have more environments and easy deus ex machinas!
Looking at this again, I also noticed that they barely even follow the theme of the game. No mysteries, no spooky shit, and the only scooby doo characters in the game appear at the final level! That's some REALLY shit design, considering the game was meant to be a homage!

The second movie is a better homage than the game(yes, the live action one!) Not a very popular opinion and to be honest the cgi part is badly animated but at the very least I felt like I was watching a real Scooby Doo flick!

Isn't that the same problem SwordArt Online had? Actually, a virus or corruption would work as a pretty interesting villain. ReBoot's villains were malware and they were pretty cool. Especially Hexadecimal, a very unique and entertaining villain.

There's no reason to have 'Shag Scooby' because if there's enough letters for Scooby there's enough room for an extra g and y to make that 'Shaggy 10 Scooby 6'. Cheers to you, Caddy! I'll admit that this was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid. I never even noticed so many of these animation errors... This definitely hasn't held up since then.
However, you say that the Phantom Virus is the worst Scooby Doo villain ever made. He is embarrassingly incompetent, but I think the absolute worst has to be Revolta from Scooby Doo and The Ghoul School. At least the Phantom Virus is, by definition, actively doing stuff in this movie.
If Caddy ever ends up reviewing Ghoul School somehow, I'll look forward to the sheer shock and anger on his face, as well as that atrocity of a movie rightfully getting torn a new one.
