Even if you discount all the actual paranormal crap that's happened to them, they probably still have PTSD from the amount of psychos that have tried to hurt them, whether trying to scare away, kidnap or kill them. They have good reason to be scared, even if you put aside all the weird bullshit they've gotten into.

      I would certainly say Pericles' pursuit of the Entity and the actions performed in said pursuit would hundred percent count as war crimes. Hell, the flesh eating cows could count as bioweapons, already violating the Geneva Convention, as would gunning down Marcie (killing a non-combatant). The love potion from the Aphrodite episode would also count for chemical warfare, and it was the bird who came up with the formula for it.

    So, someone else already did a video counting up Pericles's (among the other villains') sentences, I'd just like to compare the two counts!
    This count:
    17 life sentences
    60 356 years in prison
    Other count:
    63 life sentences
    275 years in prison
    5 death sentences
    60 650 dollar fine
    Honestly? even though the number of life sentences are so different, the actual prison time more than makes up for that. As for the death sentences, I think that's just a difference in researching crimes that are eligible for the death penalty. and the fine... I mean, does Pericles even have or care about money?
    Overall, I prefer this count's total!

    Also, on the Scare-Bear one, wouldn’t Vincent Firman be off Scott free since most of crimes were on Destroido land and Sheriff stone said that since it’s a private sovereign land he couldn’t arrest anyone? By that count, would Mr. E be held guilty for attempted murder by way of the bomb?

    Excuse me, but I think Pericles' sentence should be higher. In the Horrible Herd, Mr. E talks to Pericles about the eponymous herd. In this conversation, E mentions that 29 of his scientists are listed under “presumed missing”, and judging by how one of their screams are heard, I believe the implication is that they were victims of the Horrible Herd, who’s crimes are attributed to Pericles. Maybe there’s something I don’t know about, but I think we should add a couple 29 life sentences to the total.
    Edit: I don’t know if you had already accounted for this, but in All Fear The Freak, it’s implied that Pericles murders Ed Machine to send a message to Mr. E. So that’s another life sentence, but I’m unsure if you didn’t notice it, or did but didn’t mention it.

    Danny (S1EP17) is actually getting a LOT longer time in prison, as it's actually illegal to booby trap your house with deadly traps in most states, and at all in others. Katko v. Briney had the homeowners held liable for the damages caused to the trespasser, because it was malicious intent.
    In Texas, where I live: Sec. "9.44. USE OF DEVICE TO PROTECT PROPERTY. The justification afforded by Sections 9.41 and 9.43 applies to the use of a device to protect land or tangible, movable property if: (1) the device is NOT designed to cause, or known by the actor to create a substantial risk of causing, death or serious bodily injury; and use of the device is REASONABLE under all the circumstances as the actor reasonably believes them to be when he installs the device." (all caps added by me for emphasis)
    Basically: You can't have something designed to kill. You can't have something designed to seriously injure. and those traps were lethal as hell.
    I've always imagined Scooby Doo as more of a New England setting, and I imagine some of those states are a bit more strict.

    Alright... So, according to my own calculations, if we were to say that:
    A.) None of the imprisoned are over 50 years old (with some "wiggle room")
    B.) They all live natural, healthy lives where they get to live until they're about 100 years old
    C.) There's no chance of parole
    D.) We don't count their crimes outside of the episode (like the father/daughter supervillain duo)
    E.) They all count as alive (mostly referring to Danny who dies and Fernando who was already dead)
    ... Then the final total for the amount of individuals that would live long enough to completely serve their sentence and get out of jail is: 24.
    Excluding the ones who didn't get any time at all, the shortest sentence was Danny with 3 years, which makes it more sad that he died when he would have (technically) gotten off the easiest.
    Also, I'm a little sad that you didn't count up the gang's own total at the end. It would have been funny just how many years they would have gotten from trespassing alone.

Only warning is that most of the episodes take place in the UK so it might require more research on legal matters to figure out how to sentence the various culprits.

    Did Nightfright (Argus) paying actors to pretend to be unconscious really constitute bribery? The actions committed are not illegal. While the actors may be considered acting dishonestly, I would argue two things. One, Vincent van Ghoul paid these same actors to terrorize Scooby and Shaggy. True, it was part of a show, but Scooby and Shaggy did not consent to being harassed. Two, I would argue that the men were actors engaging in their services for payment. Either Vincent van Ghoul should be charged for criminal activity or Argus should serve 12 less years on his sentence, bringing it down to 24 years.
    Marion Spartan's husband claimed he would not press charges, which should drop her sentence 4 years (meaning she would serve 25 years instead).

    • @ripdalt
      @ripdalt  6 месяцев назад +1

      i think it would because they still aided the illegal activity (he wasn't even supposed to be in his house). as for marion, while true that he husband didn't press charges, that creates a weird normalization of accepting spousal abuse (i know it's not that deep, but still, worth a mention) so she still gets the assault

  • @OmnicidalClown1992
    @OmnicidalClown1992 6 месяцев назад +1

    9:15 Marion is one of the few, if not only, culprit who technically got away with her crimes. Her husband decided not to press any charges from her actions, as he understood why she did it, and he ultimately agreed to retire.
