the difference between Ramy and the rest , is that his movement around the court looks so effortless and he uses that racket like a magic wand .... legend !!
That first rally to me was just on an insane level, the movement is hard to believe. A bit surprising that the rally where Ashour and Shorbagy both hit between the legs wasn't there. I can't complain really but I think a top 10 would have made more sense. In fact a top 100 would probably have been doable with the magician!
Looking back those few years where Ramy, Gaultier, Matthew, Shorbagy, Shabana, Wilstrop all capable of winning and pushing each other were a wonderful time to watch squash. Sort of feels hollow now so many have retired.
Great rallies! What balffels me about these rallies is how Ashour seems rather unaffected by them physically. Gaultier, Shorbagy and even Mathew are gasping for air while Aahour is celebrating or walking around almost casually. Does he read the game so well he uses less energy than his oppenets? I doubt he is in better shape.
There are 2 points that I believe are unique to Ramy's game that I believe contribute greatly to the difference: - First, the consistency he achieves in his length when hitting hard forces a lot of BIG movements out of his opponents when they have to take balls before the back wall very quickly. - Second, when under pressure he tends to run through the ball instead of lunge into it and hit more exaggerated shots (like the hard back wall boast in the second game) to buy time.
@@darrenc2440 My thought exactly... That rally against Gaultier when he was ready to serve while Gaultier was recovering is simply an example of a player wanting to maintain his momentum.
I love Gaultier's core strength. He is such gifted technician in his squash with such poise and balance. Ramy is unquestionably glorious in his shotmaking but I prefer Gaultier on technique.
Ramy brought a new technique and skill level to the game never seen before. But the biggest value add that Ramys career will bring to the world of squash is the new skills that the current young players will bring through in the next 5 to 10 years and beyond; as they have grown up watching, mirroring and embracing the racquet skills that Ramy demonstrated to everyone.
Ramy ashour should come out of retirement and play for some more years because squash misses him so much once in a generation talent nobody in history of squash is like him whether it is Shabana, Matthew, Geoff hunt, palmer, darwish, jahangir khan and jansher khan but ramy is completely unique
Gotta admit it's really pleasant to see players trying to play through the interference back then rather than asking for a stroke every single change they get
Find it difficult to watch squash now. Bizarre referring and players acting like bitches. Ramy played through a lot of interference and often won because of it.
Just wondering :P who are those actually 58 losers who dislike this amazing Top 5 rallies of Ramy. Because even the people who don't know about squash , loved it and those 58 losers :P. Feel so sorry for them.
However, those awesome rallies exist due to his opponents, I can watch the last point against Gaultier in loop and this rally is also amazing because Gaultier is. But no doubt Ramy is a genius, and the best player of all time ! I miss him on court :(
Ofcourse. They matched him shot by shot and that is why the points were so epic. Feels like an end if an era with Shorbagy slowing down finally. Legends all of them
Just before PJ started jumping on peoples laps... Notice how the ball was put past Ramy by that low super fast cross-court that bounces twice long before getting to the back wall. I want that ability.
I’m missing those rallies against Willstrop as well, especially the ones from Virginia (US) and the British Open. Those deserved a place as well in this list!
If there's one thing to pick out with Ashour it's his pick-ups - the speed and reach at the front and side of the court is just ridiculous. Or sadly, was. I guess Shorbagy is almost as good, and Farag has shall we say in-built advantage.

Bharat Swarup I think you’re talking about Federer

@@niffrig the new generation sucks man

Last point "He is playing on the harmstrings of Gaultier" brilliant commentary

Third time to watch this specific video and IT NEVER GOT OLD!

I'm sat here whooping and clapping on my own like I'm there in the front row
Come back Ramy! Please!!
He's the greatest of all time!
This is just pure awesome squash from all of the players but Ramy and Gaultier have the best rallies in the game, such quality and next level squash
I love Gaultier's core strength. He is such gifted technician in his squash with such poise and balance. Ramy is unquestionably glorious in his shotmaking but I prefer Gaultier on technique.
The last rally make anyone who play squash or not can feel the joy of playing squash.
LEGEND. He will be badly missed.

The 4th rally for me was absolutely mind boggling! Great highlight reel!
Nick Matthew said it: the last rally is the best squash rally ever.

I hope ramy triumphs over his knee injury and makes a comeback. That would be legendary!
5 thumps up for these Great Rallyes!!
What an absolute legend of the game!

I believe it's absolutely hard for you (the channel) to pick those 5 in millions of his.
The last one was epic🤯

The rivalry with shorbagy had so much more potential, biggest tragedy of the modern game

Guess they did as they dislike squash as many consider it as a silly game. I play lots of sports but I adore squash
this is insane
He owned Gauthier whenever they played; so glad to see him dominate

Peak Ashour and peak Shabana - arguably the most formidable players in the post-Jahangir, post-Jansher era. On their days, totally unplayable.
Just before PJ started jumping on peoples laps... Notice how the ball was put past Ramy by that low super fast cross-court that bounces twice long before getting to the back wall. I want that ability.
I think 1st rally of the video (the 5th position on the list) could be replaced by any of his great points against willstrop on the British open
I’m missing those rallies against Willstrop as well, especially the ones from Virginia (US) and the British Open. Those deserved a place as well in this list!
Yeah man, you're right, it were a magnificent rallies especially the first game.

Notice the space between Ramy and the French guy. Then notice the lack of space between the Ramy and the Brit...
Would have loved to see him get an Olympic Gold , they got breakdancing and skateboarding but not squash . Ridiculous
