Honestly, this helped me ALOT. I was manually doing each order, not even knowing they were coming up in other orders. My goal is to sync for automation, especially for the ones consistently selling. Thank you much (only half way through the video lol)
Thanks for the great info. I find it easy enough to begin my listings on Printify. I have a few drafts saved there that help make it easier. Man, it's so easy to make money with Printify!
I sell a lot of group listings with far too many options to be able to sync them (I'd need 3 drop down menus on Etsy which they don't allow). I have manual processing on for everything so it's not a problem. If only one item got synced, I just manually add the other(s). With just paying attention a little this is very easy to avoid.
I still use manual order fulfillment for the same reason - if you have it set to manual then you are all set, I agree! It's really only an issue if you're trying to use automatic order submission since you would have limited time to catch each order.
OMG, why did it take me so long to find your video about this??? I had an issue happen about 2 months ago with the personalization issue--a t-shirt was ordered along with a personalized matching mug--and it never showed up on the Other Orders tab. I couldn't figure it out, so I ordered the mug separately using my account. I had to first message the customer to make sure it was already paid, and it was quite embarassing. Lesson learned. Thanks for your great videos!
I love your even handed approach to ideas. Just subbed. But wanted some clarification on this, if you can. While I understand your hesitance to this approach (I feel the same way) ... when you gave the example of someone ordering two items: First item, we'll say M size, had already been ordered before ... The second item, we'll say 2XL, is being ordered for the first time. (1) You say that the 2XL won't show up, which I get. I just wanted to confirm that this (while bad) isn't an absolute roadblock? (2) Can you still click "edit order" and then add the second item in the size /color you want from your already created items? Thanks for the great content!
Thank you for another very informative video and all the useful content. Just one thought though... I was under the impression that the main reason for using the 'Sync as you go' method is the fact that you can lower your production cost(s) - and therefore, maximaze profits- because you would be able to then input your orders manually and select which production partner would fulfil the order at a lower cost, taking in consideration various factors such as the customer's location. For example, if you get an order that has to be shipped to EU wouldn't it make more sense to send it for production using a print provider in that region rather than using a US one? Unless, what you were discussing in this video does not apply to international sales in which case please simply ignore my comment :P
First of all, another GREAT and informative video. What about copying Etsy listings that have already been created in Printify. Wouldn't that listing already have all the SKUs in place? I create all my products in Printify first and then publish to Etsy but I want to split test some of them. Would there be any problems created with that method?
Hi! If you copy them on Printify and then publish to Etsy, Printify automatically creates new SKU numbers for the new listing. If you copy the existing listing on Etsy, the SKU numbers will stay the same and sync to the same product variations in Printify. So if you wanted to test different mockups or something like that, you definitely can copy the Etsy listing and orders will sync with Printify. Great question!
i made my listing on etsy then on printify and then i copied the SKUs to etsy that still automates the product right? even if the listing is not published on printify and just saved as a draft?
In the product listing section which says sync product details, all the available options such as product titke description, shopping profile are all greyed out leaving mockups, pls hpw do I correct this... this is for me to be able to publish these product details on etsy store
This video was so informative! Thank you. I do have a question for you; when creating “custom” listings where a customer can personalize a word on their shirt, do you suggest creating that listing directly on Etsy first, or creating it on Printify - sync it to Etsy as normal then when that custom listing is purchased, perhaps with other items in my shop, I edit the order on Printify with the customers custom details for that item?
If you use Awkward Styles direct, and you edit a product you've already published (like if you want it one inch bigger), all the products unlink and you have to manually SKU map again. I've just found it's easier to do this as I go. It also means I wouldn't be able to scale the size of the design for the extra small shirts if I didn't have different template for it. However, I much prefer it when something is already synced as it is less work later on, and I do find it just as quick in Printify, but you can edit and republish in Printify much more easily than with Awkward Styles. I use it especially for things likes totes and makeup bags where I don't have my own mockups anyway.
Thanks for making this video. I was just about to revamp my Etsy shop with multiple combination listings using your previously suggested method. This video was very timely for me.
Glad it was helpful! The combination listing method that I use where you copy over all the SKU numbers will prevent the back-end headache for sure. It's definitely more work up front but once I realized what can happen if you have some sycned and some not, I'd rather enter all the SKUs when I create the listing and not worry about it.
Could you please do a segment on a digital download stickers, as a tutorial. Also could you please do another segment on the breakdown of the total fees plus cost, then include the the fees and cost of using Printify. the Whole total cost to you and how to price adjust it it accordingly. I have a misunderstand on how to profit using print on demand. Thank you!
Thanks for another helpful video. I had a question from one of your previous videos regarding the “Hide in Store” function. Is there a benefit to hiding every printify product and then editing the listing in Etsy? If so is it ok for the printify product to remain hidden after the Etsy listing is active? Or will this mess up the sku numbers? Should I just publish directly to Etsy and not hide in store? Thanks so much!
great video showing example of the issue. for the scenario in which customer orders 2+ personalized items in same order; did you say this issue arises also?
Thanks! If all products in the order don't match to printify, then the whole order will go to your other orders tab. So thankfully, if someone orders 2+ personalized products that you have not synced to printify, you will be able to import the order from the other orders tab.
My custom shirt did not go to my other orders. It went straight to production. I don't know what I did wrong. I could not edit order before it was sent 😮
Thank you for your videos. Q on 're' publishing. I typically use the 'hidden' feature & publish on Printify & then update & finish up on Etsy. If I go back into the Printify to check something [w/o changing] can I just back out of the screen or sh I re-publish? Because 2x, but I cannot be certain what I did in Printify [still very new to it] I've had active listings in Etsy move to the 'inactive' section. At least I know where to find them & I just activate again & I think I'm good to go. I'm guessing all my items on Printify sh show 'hidden' except any 'template' items. Thank you again. Switching from the company I was using has definitely had a learning curve.
Hi! You do not need to republish listings from Printify unless you've changed something that needs to be updated on Etsy. Printify will not publish any updates to Etsy unless you use the publish button, so if you just need to check something in a listing or the design placement you can safely open the listing or the editor view and then just back out of it without making changes. In fact, you can make edits to your listings on Etsy if you need to such as updating the pricing without publishing from Printify. After you've published the listing from Printify, you really only need to re-publish if you change something about the print file that impacts the mockup images or if you want to change it over to a different print provider within Printify. Otherwise, you can make any minor future edits directly on Etsy. The only thing that Printify needs to keep in place so that your orders will sync are the SKU numbers of the product variants.
Hey, just had another thought: Can you simply create a second store? Make the first store "automatic" and have all the non-personalized products there, then a second store that is "manual" and that's where your personalized items go? Can you hook two different printify stores up to a single Etsy store? Then, if a customer submits a single order that has one personalized item and one non-personalized item, they would be correctly handled? Honestly, at that point, I suspect you'd end up with your Monster/SwiftPOD/whoever sending out two order packages and charging appropriately. Ah, never mind, this is probably a silly suggestion. :-)
You totally could have separate Etsy shops to sell personalized products only and one for general products - you can connect your Printify account to up to 5 stores with the free account or 10 stores with the premium account, and each store has separate settings for order fulfillment so that would definitely work. I'm not sure that you could connect two separate Printify accounts to the same Etsy shop though - you would have to create a separate Printify account with different email/etc. and then if you want premium you'd be paying for it twice, plus as you mentioned it would complicate orders that have multiple products potentially. Not silly though, it's important to think about these things from all angles!
Isnt the purpose of posting on Etsy first, (what is talked about on other YT channels) the scaling down issue?! They randomly decide to reduce the small sizes so much, that it looks completely different from your Mockups. The question I have is why creating 4-5 listings. Like how exactly is the workflow?
Wait a little confused now, so for example: If a customer buys a personalized t shirt + a non-personalized t-shirt (synced already to Printify) in the same order, will the personalized shirt not show on Printify since it doesn’t have a sku number yet?
That is correct - if the order contains anything that does sync with Printify, then anything else in the same order that doesn't have a Printify SKU will just disappear and not show up in your Printify account. So that would include any personalized items that you created without a Printify SKU. Scary! Fortunately, at least in my experience, when someone buys a personalized item from my shop it has been pretty rare that they've bought other non-personalized items from my shop at the same time. But still it's definitely an issue to be aware of.
@@PODinsights ahh I see that’s for clarifying! So if that ever happens, I’ve been told that we can edit the order that shows up under the Printify Orders tab and add the missing personalized item before fulfilling the order. Is this also how you would fix it from your experience?
@@KennethTungol Yes absolutely! You can definitely edit the order before it goes to production to add the personalized product. The issue is just that you have to catch it before it goes to production, especially if you have automatic order submission enabled. As long as you catch it soon enough, you'll be good to go.
@@PODinsights ahh I see. So for people who still want to go the Sync as You Go route, do you suggest just to switch to manually fulfill all orders and make sure to check everyday to see if any items disappeared from any of your orders?
Honestly, this whole issue with multiple items where one item matches and another one doesn't, but then printify loses the unmatched feels like a bug. I've been in the tech industry long enough and one of the mantras of software development is "no matter what, never lose the customer's data". Be you contacted printify about this issue?
Hi! I have included this feedback in a recent user survey that I participated in with Printify. I agree with you that the order information should not be lost in this scenario. They're probably prioritizing the experience around products that were published from Printify through the integration with Etsy, and kind of overlooking some back end workflows where we might be wanting to import orders that have products we originally created using other POD platforms or manually created on Etsy. I hope this is something they can address in the future though!
Thank you for your helpful videos. If I copy and make changes to a listing on Etsy that I've already published using Printify, will it automatically update on Printify as a new product? Or are there extra steps required for synchronization?
If you copy an existing Etsy listing, it will contain the same SKU numbers as they were originaly published from Printify. You would not want to leave the SKUs as-is because they would sync to the original products in your Printify account even if you change the variation descriptions on Etsy. If you remove the SKUs in the new/copied listing, nothing will sync to Printify. You will need to create the product on Printify in order to fulfill any orders. If you want orders to automatically sync from Etsy to Printify, the easier thing to do is copy the product listing on Printify, change the artwork, and publish from there because it automatically generates new SKU numbers for the new listing.
I have some info to share. A lot of your viewers probably use these programs. I also use EverBee, which is great!
