  • A2B via Sea was undertaking a round trip crossing with Irish Ferries from Pembroke to Rosslare Europort aboard the vessel Blue Star 1 to obtain material for a new blog to be published to www.a2bviasea.co.uk
The journey happen to take place on Saturday 19th February 2022 - the day after the worst storm in 30yrs hits the United Kingdom - Storm Eunice.
Departing Pembroke on her very early morning sailing to Ireland, this was her first voyage since the storm hit. The journey was rough but as it was pitch black darkness in the Irish Sea it was not possible to see the waves. However, returning from Rosslare at 0845hrs we could see what was coming towards us.....!
Initially the sea conditions weren't too bad however, around 30min into the voyage things changed considerably!!!
The waves were simply huge - the wind being gale 8 to severe gale 9 - the mountainous walls of water hitting the ships' starboard bow / starboard side were relentless.
Ironically, A2B via Sea was aboard the Irish Ferries vessel Ulysses between Dublin and Holyhead during the time Storm Eunice hit on Friday 18th February and the Stena Line vessel Stena Nordica between Holyhead and Dublin on Wednesday 16th February when Storm Dudley hit - video footage will be added to this channel in due course.
