    Had a customers new bike that had a loud creak under hard braking.
    Chased it round and round, checking all the usual suspects. Headset. Bars. Stem. Brakes. Wheels. Etc.
    Ended up being where the steer tube press fit to the upper crown on the fork. Hadn’t seen that before.
    Manufacturer warranted it.

    My recent personal experience on my 6 months old carbon mtb: I had creakings when more pressure was exercised on the pedals, mostly on uphills. I supposed it came from the bottom bracket and based on this video I ordered grease (I still didn't receive). I cleaned my bike and while removing the rear axle I heard the creaking sound, so I had the idea to thightened it more. And it solved the creaking. What is surprising is that on my aluminium bike if I tighten hard the rear axle, there is a rubbing sound so I have to tighten it lightly, reason why I also tightened 'lightly' the axles of my carbon mtb. Thanks for your useful vids.

    I was servicing my free hub. When I was done there was this weird creak I was not able to pinpoint. It didn't show up on stand, only when I rode my bike. Easy way to fix disk brake, I accidentally wiped a whole load of grease on my disk rotor and only noticed it after the wheel had spun so it touch brake pads. Hey mates, i have some creaking problem, rather than ''bad acord guitar string sound'' kinda... Using Shimano 12 speed groupset (XTR&XT mixed)
    it only happens on low gears and under hard steep hills climbing. 33-39-45-51 tooths area kind of.
    -i have checked bottom bracket and crank arm area with pedals. Nothing wrong there, cleaned and greased
    -checked my chain, i have XTR and XT chain (XT brand new) put XT one, chain size also correct
    -checked casette torque tightened it correct
    -cleaned micro spline body, put bit of grease and installed casette again (yes casette spacers in correct places, including that small plastic one behind 51t sprocket
    -checked freehub body and bearing, cleaned and light greased (which is free hub sound almost gone now...)
    -put new XTR&Dura-ACE polymer gear cable, adjusted gears correct with B Screw and high&low screws all correct.
    i am thinking the sound coming from my wheel spokes ? sounds like it ? or something wrong with that micro spline body ?
    Sound is really like wheel spokes sound, since when i check wheel spokes with my hand, if there any lose, there is not any loose and my wheel is true but you know the guitar string accord sound like, when you check them by hand with bit of force.
    (Bontrager Kovee Pro carbon wheelset)
    Any thoughts ?
    Best regards

    I had horrible creaking sounds coming from the rear of my bike. I watched this video and realized it may be just my spokes with grit and grime making the sound. I squeezed on my spokes to see if any were loose and sure enough the same creaking sound emitted from some of them. I washed my bike and even without adding lube, silicone, etc. to anywhere on my bike the creaking is gone on my test ride - and, on top of that my gears were shifting smoother and quieter and, again, all before I lubed up the bike afterwards. I guess I'm just going to have to wash my bike more often like a good little boy.

    • @Erafune
      @Erafune 6 лет назад

      Nice, man, I ride Scott Scale 70 2011. You'll have to specify what product line you bought as well.
      Scott bikes have several different product lines: Aspect, Scale, Spark, Genius. Every type have many versions with it's own number: 980-910, 780-710. 9xx means it's 29inch wheels. 7xx means 27,5 inch wheels. Aspect is Scott's lowest-end line. Scale is one step up.
      I say ride for one year and see if you feel like you're missing anything. Most likely you won't. Upgrading gear is expensive so only do when something breaks.
      Only thing you should worry about is the saddle which is probably a stiff uncomfortable one. Get a comfortable one.
      Don't ride other people's more expensive bikes, cause you'll compare and suddenly feel like you need this thing you didn't even know about before.
      I now want air shocks and Rapidfire gear shifters. T_T In 2018, Scott Aspect 910 and Scott Scale 970 would fit my criteria.

    Can you guys help me pls? When Im in the bike it is creaking. I put pressure or not it is creaking but, most of the vibration I feel it on my feet. But when Im testing my pedals with me not riding my mtb its not creaking. I clean my seat post but it is still there. It creaks even though Im not pedaling (but Im riding) I test my cranksets but there is no play on it. I go to my technicians and they just dont know what it is.

    This video came at a perfect time for me. I am experiencing ‘ghost pedalling’ but only on 3 of the spline things. When those 3 spin round they engage and the pedals spin when they should be free wheeling. Any suggestions?

    • @odysseyjzx
      @odysseyjzx 6 лет назад +1

      I would try taking the freewheel mechanism apart and replacing the lube in it. The oil might be causing the pawls to engage

    • @gmbntech
      @gmbntech  6 лет назад +1

      Sound advice from josh, although we'd suggest that it's small 'chunks' of grease or dirt that are causing it to engage...it only needs a very light brush of grease if you're using thicker stuff!

    Is it okay to use silicon spray on the stanchions?

    • @gmbntech
      @gmbntech  6 лет назад +3

      Sure, wipe it with a clean, lint free rag after though or it will just attract dust...and be careful not to spray any onto any braking surface whilst spraying.

    I chased a creak on my bike for about a year and it ended up being the stupid chainring bolts. Should have checked them first, but after taking them off, cleaning, regreasing, and reassembling, no creaks. Moral of the story, always check chainring bolts for drivetrain creaks!

    Great bike , rides smooth ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L I added a bigger spring loaded seat to it . Takes a bit of adjusting cables to get brakes and shifting to perfect . I've owned quite a few bikes in the past that were absolutely uncomfortable to ride and they always ended up as garage wall decor . I'm not seeing that with this one. It's pretty light I've only ridden it a few miles but I like it . As for the pedals falling off in the other reviews , the pedal arms are aluminum along with the pedal studs look to be also . I would not overtighten them. I can see it would be very easy to overtighten them and strip the threads right off . All in all I think it's pretty good quality besides the aluminum pedal thing .

      Yt doesn't have mountain bikes under 2300e so I would recommend either a entry level full sus from canyon or a really nice hardtail
