Thomas, any chance you could give us a bit of of a story about how/why you came of the music industry until your return? I first came to know you from Vai's video back in the day and and always wondered what you were up to when you seem to come of out of music... no worries if you want to keep that side of your life private tho :)

Would love to hear the story. Absolutely floored by the New Beginnings album when I heard it. I only new you were back in the music video because I saw you in a Jared Dines video. Keisel makes the most gorgeous guitars I've ever seen. I own a Carvin ST300 in black with a floyd and it plays so well, I'm the 3rd owner of it though.

I've got 3 myself and am totally hooked on the headless thing as well, probably will order a fixed bridge Zeus or Leia for the same reason you mention in the video. Nice to get all the stories too. Actually the first time I saw you was at NAMM at the Abasi booth some years back and was just totally blown away by your playing... have been a fan since!

Same here. I've owned Gibsons, Fenders, Ibanez and ESP's but i changed to Kiesel when i got my Type-x. Originally i bought that guitar only to practice but it became my number one guitar due to its playability and sound. My Type-X is a neck through baked maple neck with a 20" radius and medium stainless steel frets. Im saving to buy a second Kiesel same specs but a 7 string.

Was definitely inspired to order an Osiris which I just got last month - it was amazing and now I’m a convert for headless guitars. My favourite here is the Type X, followed by that raw tone Swamp Ash Osiris :)

I have several old Carvins that I absolutely adore. Huge fan of what they have become. At some point I'm going to have to order a Kiesel. I am a new convert to headless. They are just so comfortable.
Awesome. I have had a ZM7 for almost half a year now. Amazing guitar. Have an HD6X on order, hopefully only about 1 more month to go.
With age guitars have become irrevelant to the style i play. And having a personal guitar that no other "Hero" uses/plays is priceless and hard to find. Rock on bro love your playing!

My experience with Kiesel was totally different, their customer service was terrible and the guitar they sent me was a complete mess. I ordered a trans finish and they painted it so thick you could not see the wood grain unless you shined a flashlight on it, the case they sent had a lock broken off it upon delivery and the worst, they put their OWN LOGO on upside down on the headstock. I think at best you could say is you never know what you get from Kiesel, and at worst you start to wonder if the only people getting these gorgeous perfect guitars are people with an internet presence that will advertise for them. When I tried to contact them they sent me a return slip that had already expired and when I contacted them again they ignored me. When I left a message on an Instagram post they DELETED IT instead of owning up to the issue! I wouldn't give them another dime and I recommend anyone else strongly consider other options, you have plenty believe me. Try Halo, Ornsby, Legator, etc. Kiesel aren't worth the risk.
That's when you do a Bank Charge Dispute for a refund.
I love Kiesel, but these stories really do happen, and it really sucks.
I have 4 of them (3Vader,1 Osiris)and they are all Amazing! One day i will hopefully own a Holdsworth!

I had 3 custom Carvins back in the day. Hit some financial trouble and had to sell them all to pay the rent. I'm dying for a custom Kiesel. The finish on that HD is calling my name!

I Just hit my head, on my headstock, as I was looking for my tremolo arm for my LTD lol. It's got a tilted headstock and it sticks out, behind the back of my stand...It's an extra thing that I have to worry about, so I don't think I care for it
I'm currently saving up to get a custom Kiesel build and I'm thinking about getting 1 with a headstock and then getting a headstock-less one, later, but idk yet. I'm left-handed, so I pretty much have to get a custom-build (not really a complaint, just the reality of things) and with that said, I haven't been able to try, either headstock or headstock-less versions of a Kiesel. I'm 100% sure I need to get my hands on one.
I've got a nice Greg Howe GH3 spec'd out, under $2.5k with a limba body and 5 piece maple neck with limba stripes, flamed maple fingerboard, deep wine body finish (top only, exposed limba wood back) with matching headstock. I'm going to call Jeff's guys, when I have the money on hand, and talk the specs over with them. I know that they can tell you about options that aren't listed on the site (i.e. different options for burst, other paint options, different hardware options etc.) and I know they will let you know any other useful info about your choices- i.e. if you've got heavy wood combinations and perhaps you should chamber it if you'd like. After all, there's no changing, anything, once you make that order and hang up the phone.
Tom you have such get riffs!!!! I love that clean tone with delay and reverb on the second kiesel you should record a bunch of those, high gain tones included and make a CD for us mortals!!👍🤘🎸

I built a Carvin Bolt Kit about 22 years ago. Still probably my best guitar, and I've bought several since then.

Those stripes in the back are Walnut stripes I have a 3 piece walnut neck with a maple stripe sounds killer

You must check out a chambered guitar.
Game changing. Not just lighter guitar, great,loud unplugged.
The chambering also tightens up a muddy low end, especially on mahogany, maple top guitars.
I've had Steinbergers since the '80s, I have a few Steinberger Synapse SS2F, lighter than the original graphite L; but the best is my Gittler - titanium, lighter and smaller than anything.

I wonder why you haven't got an HH2 "Holdsworth" guitar. Have you tried that one? That's how I came across Kiesel guitars long ago, and still haven't got myself one! Hopefully one day!
Never really been much of a fan of headless guitars, aesthetically, but I have to admit these Kiesels look really good.
Not as pretty, but have you ever played a Steinberger with the trans-trem? Would be really intriguing to hear what you could do with that.

Tone/Sound is a huge thing for me. If I can't get the sound I hear in my head then I play my acoustic guitar. Just discovered Neural DSP and my tone issues have been resolved. Just need to find the right pickups.
It's funny and cool to see headless become somewhat... I'm hesitant to use the word "popular" but lets say interesting again. I think the main problem throughout the years was the Steinberger boat paddle headless guitar. Lets face it, not even EVH or Gilmour could make them look cool. They did make more traditional S-type headless guitars called the GM series and those are now worth a nice chunk of coin. Luckily, I happen to have one.
I've owned a GM4T for almost 25 years now. It has the TransTrem system that changes 6 different tunings on the fly. It never goes out of tune. It's an incredible piece of machinery and I'm very lucky to own it. I've stuck with headless through thick and thin. I love it. Glad to see more people taking an interest and becoming more accepting of a well built headless guitar.
And no, your hand won't slide off the end because there is no headstock...

Great video. I don't know if you've said, and I'm sure you probably have, but what type of floyd is used on the original guitar you received from Keisel may I ask ? Do all of your models come with that same trem may K ask? I'm considering getting one. Partially because of seeing what you do with one, and I have a few health problems and like small lightweight guitars. Shortness helps too in traveling as you mentioned.
Love swamp ash bodies too. That guitar, the green one and first one they sent is just beautiful. I think I would get the same model, but in a blue or purple just like yours. Otherwise I love it.

I’m a 30+ year Ibanez Jem player and have never considered trying a Kiesel until now. How do the trem systems compare to the Ibby Edge systems?
They work great for me, I guess you can’t pull quite as far back on them if that’s your thing. But generally you’ll get 3 semi tones or so. They’re stable, sound good, and very low profile so comfortable to play on.
That “teal” instrument looks like it has a roasted maple neck. Very nice!

I love Keisel, I have a Carvin custom and just had an LP style made, just before prices went up only 2,100 inc. shipping. Best playing axe I ever owned. Granted the resale is (For some reason poor $ wise) I never want to sell it. I am glad you found the quality Jeff and his team has to offer. I do not care for theheadless. Which means nothing. He must be selling many. Good video.
