    Love the way you presented the comparison. Got back to riding after a 26 year hiatus. Previous bike was the Yamaha RD250 YPVS. I bought the MT15 because it could fit me better than the MT25 probably due to long legs. I'm 5'10" and found the MT25 to be too cramped. Passed on the Duke. Due to better parts and service support, I stuck with Yamaha... plus Yamaha bikes have better resale value in Malaysia.
    Forgot to add.... Duke 200 costs RM900 more than MT15.

      @pfb85  4 года назад +1

      Hi Steve, I found the rear tire of the Duke 200 to be quite slippery so would recommend upgrading the tires. The Duke 390 has much better stock tires. What I like though is that they are wider compared to the MT-15.
      For the MT 15 I didn't even think about the tires, no slippery feeling so thats a good sign. On a "looks" perspective I like the wider tires of the Duke.

      @pfb85  4 года назад

      In terms of general maintenance (change oil and such) price is pretty much the same, if you do it "in-house" its a bit pricey. But you can decide to do it outside, up to you. In terms of aftermarket parts Yamaha has a lot, but the duke 200 has been in the Philippine market longer (MT-15 launched in 2019) . The MT-15 does likely have a lot of compatible parts from other Yamaha motorcycles so generally would think that it has an advantage in that part even though the Duke has a lot of parts as its been in the Philippine market for many years. In terms of in house parts cost KTM is more costly though.

    I own a duke 200, but before that, I also chose between these two bikes, I chose the duke because of the following:
    1. Duke has a bigger 200cc engine and it's DOHC, compared to the MT15 which is only 155cc SOHC.
    2. Duke 200 has bigger 43mm inverted front suspension, compared to 37mm inverted of the MT15.
    3. Both of the Duke's front and rear shocks has a more premium brand (WP) compared to the MT15's KYB.
    4. Although the Duke's headlight is Halogen, it's beam it very bright even riding at night, you don't need to install aux lights.
    5. Duke has better signal lights because it is LED compared to bulb type signal lights of the MT15.
    6. Duke has wider tires.
    7. The Duke has a better chassis (trellis fame), compared to MT15's (Diamond frame).
    8. And the Duke overall, from a physical standpoint, has a better "Fit and Finish" especially on the side view of the bikes.
    I hope this help, that's why I chose the Duke over the MT15, oh and its cheaper too, I got mine at a promo for 147k only :)

    • @pfb85
      @pfb85  4 года назад

      Hi Giancarlo,
      Thanks for the indepth comparison 🙂. You mentioned wider tires which is true, but I was honestly disappointed with the stock tires which I found slippery. The 390 has significantly better tires. The MT-15 has a deltabox frame which is one of it’s selling points (I forgot that in the review) which gives it great handling with a light frame. For the headlight the halogen ones are good, but with the 390 coming with LED it shows some minor room for improvement although I think its very minor.
      Overall I personally love both bikes, you make some excellent points for the Duke. It’s a great bike! I would just upgrade the tires 🙂. Can’t wait for the bs6 model to be released in the PH.

    • @giancarlollorente5949
      @giancarlollorente5949 4 года назад

      Ouch my bad. I have to corrct myself, the MT15’s chassis is a “Delta box frame”. Yes the duke’s rear tire is slippery at times, the 390 has Metzeller stock tires, which is a more premium brand, that’s why it grips the road better 🙂
      But lucky you for having both great bikes!

    • @pfb85
      @pfb85  3 года назад

      I believe the recommended interval is every 5,000km after the first PMS which is after 1,000km. You can search for an owners manual though to be sure.
      General maintenance is oil and oil filter.
      Besides that you should lube your chain which can be done on your own.
      As the bike gets older there will be wear and tear on parts so they will be replaced depending on usage/need.
      Initially (1-2 years) its more or less just change oil and filter.

    I think it's a bit of an ass by Yamaha to still not add the ABS to the MT-15 despite obviously seeing that DUKE 200 has it. It's only a single channel ABS but they still won't add it while keeping the price. Now, MT-15 ended up looking like an overpriced bike.

      But Mt-15 price nowadays is 178k without abs. Higher torque but with lower Power compared to Duke 200 with ABS and other better features. I just don't know which bike is better in terms of engine reliability. I'm afraid that KTM engine won't last for more than 6yrs. I'm not sure about Yamaha engine though.

      Thank you!

      @glennrn368 4 года назад

      @@pfb85 well for starters, power is obviously wanting when you compare a 150 to a 200. And so it follows that fuel mileage will also differ. Moreover, a 40 plus cc difference is significant and it shows in both their bore and stroke configuration, therefore both bikes are not in the same league. At least in my humble opinion.

    • @pfb85
      @pfb85  4 года назад +1

      @Glenn RN , there are differences but that does not mean they are in different categories.
      They are both low displacement street bikes and absolutely comparable.
      They also cost more or less the same, are single cylinder, fuel injected motorcycles. You are of course entitled to your opinion but a 40cc difference in displacement does not put them in different categories unless you are talking about racing. You could say its comparing an apple with another apple slightly bigger/smaller if you want to use that comparison phrase.
      These two goes head to head in the market just like the husqvarna svartpilen 200 and yamaha xsr 155 will now.
