Salvatori and the gang really outdid themselves with this OST. The pure melancholy of some of Savathun's tracks really push home the fact that her lives were a tragedy. After the struggles and bombshells of the campaign and our final cutscenes revealing she was just another small, misunderstood cog in a much larger machine, I can't help but feel sadness for her. Agreed, the former Oryx was a good villian too but Bungie really did a better job of conveying Savathun ingame as a character. For Oryx they relied on a lot of external lore via The Book of Sorrow and as for the game, they really just painted him out to be on a path of vengeance for his son's death which is a lot simpler than what you see now with what Savathun has been up to. More ahead but one thing first for other readers, WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD FOR CAMPAIGN ENDING! . . . . . . . . . . . I don't think it's the end of her story either, there's clearly a reason they kept her ghost Immaru around. I'm sure they will have her revived eventually and there will be a way she will turn towards aiding the Vanguard perhaps against the incoming dark fleet / The Witness especially since she betrayed also her sister Xivu Arath. She already in fact indirectly helped Humanity once, and that was by long ago by helping the Traveler escape and to hide.

Sechrist back it again with the piano banger. For those wondering, Michael Sechrist also did Deep Stone Lullaby, Prophecy, and if I'm not mistaken the Splicer music. Absolute unit of a composer. Edit: I am mistaken, Rotem Moav and Skye Lewin actually composed the Splicer music (great job by the way). That said Sechrist did work on some other stuff I didn't realize such as Salvation itself (though the original motif could have been composed by someone else, I am not sure though)!
Insane that he was laid off. It's going to be real hard to care about D2s music post Final Shape. There are still talented musicians there but it'll be missing a lot without both Michaels.

Hearing this while exploring Savathun's castle was such a phenomenal experience. Got goosebumps hearing it for the first time by looking at the scenery
Well, functionally 3/4 and 6/8 are the same, right? So it really comes down to feel and style, like in the section around 1:12, where it switches from feeling like 3/4 to feeling like 6/8 due to the percussive hits on the 4th note of the 6/8 (or the + of 2 in 3/4)
Playing through the Legendary campaign today on my 3rd character, I intentionally stopped progressing through the Apothecary after killing the enemies outside just to jam out. Turned my music up. Such a banger. _\,,/

Might be my favorite in the whole dlc. Finishing up that big fight in the Alluring Curtain and then waltzing through the scintillating halls, looking at all the red flowers, and admiring the statues right as the calm part of this hits with Laura Intravia's wonderful vocals is a vibe and a half.
Try listening to it on 1.25x and you’ll get a whole different experience of this song. Makes it sounds like Savathun’s been deceived by the witness but starts to be disheartened and makes her every last move she got to kill you quickly as she can.
This plays when you're fighting that one lightbearer acolyte and if you put it on legendary its like you're fighting for your own life behind the screen.

Someone made a fan theme for Xivu, honestly, I wasn't a huge fan, but they did have the genius idea of using cabal horns and leitmotif for her which is huge points for that idea alone.
