eternal darkness deserves a sequel as well. it had a surprisingly intriguing story, a great sanity meter and ended with an oppotunity for a sequel (if you played through all three gods paths). it was a great game and deserves more love than it got
Arguably (since some fans prefer the originals), there's Halo 2 and 3, Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4, any of the Metal Gear Solid OG trilogy, Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner, Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, Batman: Arkham City, Thief II: The Metal Age, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Contracts, and Blood Money, Mega Man 2 and 3, Mega Man X4, Mega Man Zero 2, 3, and 4, FreeSpace 2, Star Wars: TIE Fighter, Ace Combat 2 or 04: Shattered Skies, The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2, System Shock 2, Diablo II, Warcraft II and III, Earthbound and Mother 3, Half-Life 2, Portal 2, Doom II, 2016, and Eternal, Need for Speed: Underground 2 and Most Wanted 2005... Man, this is so easy. A list of "Threequels That Aren't *That* Terrible" should be more challenging. My bets on this are Mass Effect 3, Max Payne 3, Thief: Deadly Shadows, and Batman: Arkham Knight.
Saw the title, instantly thought of "Bully". I always wanted more of Jimmy's rebellious, smart-@ss!! I thought it'd be fitting that the sequel would start with his mom and whatever step-dad (probs a new one lol) dropping him off, again, at either the same private school, or a new private school. RockSt*r has really flunked out on this sequel!
I can't believe Prey isn't on this list! It was so good, and the sequel looked like it was going to be so cool, but it got canceled a long time ago! Such a shame!
Bungled transfer of IP from 3D Realms got it stuck in developmental hell for like 8 years! Still a damn shame. And 2017's Prey really has nothing to do with it save the name.
@@MorinehtarTheBlue oh, whoops, this is awkward. I was actually talking about the 2017 game. Heheh. They confirmed they're not making a sequel for it even though it clearly set up one at the end of the game.
In college, our programming lecturer told us he worked on a game "that we may have heard of" I later found out that that game was ride to hell retribution. Finding that out was part of a few small reasons that had nothing to do with me dropping out but I definitely kept it in mind.
Ah yeah, Jade Empire was a banger. The only game I ever bought for a game console I never owned. My roommate at the time owned an Xbox and I bought Jade Empire and borrowed his Xbox when he'd let me.
Arcanum! Best written story I've ever seen in a game (though most players never got that far because of all the bugs), a very incentivising level-up system, an open world with tons of options, and most of all a unique and cozy steampunk world that you could build lots of stuff upon - but no one has. An uncut gem that marks some of my strongest game memories.
Dang, that takes me back. The main thing I remember about the game was the time I played a necromancer, killed I think the dorf king, and got the relevant plot details from his ghost. Kinda tempted to try playing it again, but not sure how well it holds up to time. Also an ended that actually cared about the choices you made! Sided with a crime boss in a city? Find out what consequences that had! One main issue I remember is a cave nearish the start with a near impossible to beat golem thing in the way. Hard to just run past, and could one hit kill most characters at that point.
@@aaronstead2361 If you enjoy retro, it's still playable! Do install the "Unofficial Arcanum patch" from Terra Arcana (some private person who calls themselves Drog Black Tooth and who's been around four ages). It's reliable and really does fix game-breaking bugs without adding anything you wouldn't like. I think that exact golem stopped me on my first attempt at a play-through. My technodwarf could deal with it using an insane amount of bombs, and I think magic can do the trick, but for some characters it might need some leveling up before you venture through the mines. Once you're through, the story catches on more and more.
Andy has an everlasting love of Sleeping Dogs, I have an undying love for Golden Sun and will forever lament the cruelty of Dark Dawn ending on a massive sequel hook and knowing Camelot will be slaving away on Mario sports games instead.
There's a few but Enslaved Odyssey to the West is one game I'd love to see a sequel to. I do agree with Andy though, Bully is way better than GTA. It'd be nice to see another Bully in some form, maybe seeing as it's been so long a sequel with a new character? I also enjoyed L.A Noire more as well, but sadly I don't get to see many detective games, particularly in this format. I might also add, although these are already sequels been made, since they did a remaster of the Phoenix Wright trilogy, as someone who hasn't played the originals I'd loved to see the others remastered onto modern consoles.
Skies of Arcadia needs a sequel as well, such a great and memorable game! If they have another video about series/franchises that need a sequel, then Ape Escape, Power Stone and Zone Of The Enders would be a few of my choices.
@@blainy-o93 well, left 4 Dead 3 is coming out, albeit under a different name, and with different characters and settings (to be fair 1 & 2 differentiated some things as well). But it's the same studio that made it.

Only issue with Grim Fandango having a sequel is that it ties off the story so completely. It's tied to a culture, and goes through the full journey according to that culture. A sequel would need to be more "spiritual" successor, as opposed to straight sequel...

Jade Empire was awesome, and definitely deserved a sequel set in the same world! Two Rivers was so pretty I was ready to move there and it was wonderful to be able to play a game where my avatar actually looked a bit like me. Silk Fox was always my OTP...
Mike: Sadly, it seems among gaming fans, there's simply no appetite for being menaced by a nine foot tall horror with razor sharp claws. Yeah, looking on the internet, I'd say that's more thirst than appetite.
Brute Force for the original XBOX, maybe I just played it so much as a kid, but the mechanic of being literal clones who collect their own DNA for cash after dying was always pretty cool to me. That and unlocking new species to play as by collecting their DNA was sweet.
How about Force Unleashed 3? Final boss fight would be against Dark Side Starkiller wielding one, ragged cleanly lined and blue lightsaber while Light Side Starkiller would wield two ragged-looking red lightsabers. Complete inversion of regular color dynamic with Dark Side being focused and calculating while Light Side is passionate and distracted.
Well Bioware is revamping the Mass Effect series, who knows they might revamp other old series. Jade Empire remastered followed by Jade Empire 2 onwards could be right around the corner.
+ for Jade Empire! Even a remake, updating the controls and graphics. Jade Empire was a favorite RPG for me at that time. I would really enjoy adding some more combat styles as well.
Sleeping Dogs is the closest we ever get to open world Yakuza and that makes me even angrier! Criterion's Black and Rocksteady's Urban Chaos also really need a sequel!

At least he's appreciating a puzzling (no pun intended) yet beloved artform. Point and click puzzle adventure games deserve more love those days.
Those were some of the first games I remember ever playong and have a special place in my heart, even though I rarely play anything in the genre these days, because I like things with more replayability these days. It's always nice to see people appreciating the genre.

well at least we got Horizon Zero Dawn.
That game was so good!
That was one of my favourite PS3 games
It was supposed to get a sequel, but they canceled it.
Alien: Isolation was awesome. So underrated and deserving of a sequel. It was so unnerving.
At least we got a DLC.
Truely a shame, I really loved how the Alien could learn your regular hidding spots. One time I hided in a closet instead of my usual hide under the desk to see it with horror look under the desk I was planning to hide under a few seconds before. XD
That was the first time I saw the ability of the AI to learn I heard about. ^^
And Alien: Blackout being at a footnote level can't really be counted as a sequel even if it does exist (tablets and phones only). Was a nice little thing but way too short.

eternal darkness deserves a sequel as well. it had a surprisingly intriguing story, a great sanity meter and ended with an oppotunity for a sequel (if you played through all three gods paths). it was a great game and deserves more love than it got
Next, do great games that got an even better sequel.
First entry is Mass Effect 2
Banjo Tooie is my entry.
@@michaelandreipalon359 Great post! I would add Fallout 3 and Far Cry 3.

I want Jimmy at college, taking on the jock/frat boys, Revenge of the nerds style
I too want a college age bully. the real evil in colleges they don't talk about is frats hazing newer members
Force Unleashed 3 would make.me.happy
Yes I can't agree enough. Truly some of my favorite games
I can't believe Prey isn't on this list! It was so good, and the sequel looked like it was going to be so cool, but it got canceled a long time ago! Such a shame!
Yeah, because no one wants to be a space bounty hunter, do they Bethesda? Sorry about the sarcasm. I'm still salty about that one.
@@Jijijijijij5 Differing definitions of a long time ago then. No worries. It seems the name or 'series' is well and truly cursed.
@@MorinehtarTheBlue well technically there's nothing that says it has to have been a long wait. Just that it never got a sequel lol
We bought an Xbox because of Jade Empire.
Perfect Dark never had a sequel. Nope, you're mistaken. That never happened. Hope it's finally gets a sequel one-day.
Right same with banjo tooie (grunty’s revenge is a presequel)... wish they would give us a sequel
A few months ago a teaser for it came out
Technically it had a prequel. At least we're getting a reboot.
The ways you know this is not an Outside Xtra video: 1) no Kingdoms of Amalur 2) It says Outsidexbox under the video
3) Luke and Ellen are both absent.
Bulletstorm will always be an underrated gem to me. Loved it and was sincerely looking forward to a sequel, but it's a shame that it'll never happen.
Finally! A comment that's talking about my favorite game as well!

An honorable mention to Half-Life 2: Episode Two -- even if "Half-Life 3" still remains pretty dead even as a meme.
To further flog that dead horse, Team Fortress 3, Portal 3, Left 4 Dead 3...
@@blainy-o93 well, left 4 Dead 3 is coming out, albeit under a different name, and with different characters and settings (to be fair 1 & 2 differentiated some things as well). But it's the same studio that made it.

There's the VR one Alyx now, which is meant to be great.

On a spoilery side note though, Alyx does tease a continuation to Gordon Freeman's adventures, but we're still talking about Valve here. Even with some of their newfound momentum it will take time.
Wasn't Sleeping Dogs originally a sequel to True Crime: Streets of New York?
Also, Kingdoms of Amalur! It deserves a sequel more than any of these!

Rockstar has added OutsideXbox to the Bad Sports pool.
They'll make a disgusting in game cocktail Andy is then required to try XD
Only issue with Grim Fandango having a sequel is that it ties off the story so completely. It's tied to a culture, and goes through the full journey according to that culture. A sequel would need to be more "spiritual" successor, as opposed to straight sequel...
if they make a sequel to sleeping dogs there are a few things we need
-larger open world map
-improve driving
-more mini games and side activities like in yakuza games
Heavenly Sword deserves a spot on this list. Fantastic game.
I'm still holding out hope that Prey (2017) gets a sequel.
Pacman 2 is amazing!! "Look! Look!" I have so many fond memories of that game, it was essentially a point and click adventure, that let you fight every once in a while to eat ghosts.
The funny thing about that is Ms. Pacman IS the sequel! And it's often accounted as better than the original. Pacman 2 is just the victim of bad naming conventions.

Bully deserves a sequel just for that slick Halloween Hugo Boss suit
Jade Empire was awesome, and definitely deserved a sequel set in the same world! Two Rivers was so pretty I was ready to move there and it was wonderful to be able to play a game where my avatar actually looked a bit like me. Silk Fox was always my OTP...

Yeap. And as an Ace, I must be hydrated enough already.
What game is that clip from when he says that line? I don't recognize that woman with the knife fingers.
Just answered my own question: Resident Evil Village (8).
Haven: Call of the King. Decent fantasy, interesting lead, and it was doing an open world at 60fps back in the earlier PS2 days.
Brute Force for the original XBOX, maybe I just played it so much as a kid, but the mechanic of being literal clones who collect their own DNA for cash after dying was always pretty cool to me. That and unlocking new species to play as by collecting their DNA was sweet.
How about a jade empire livestream while we demand a sequel?
Star Wars Republic Commando god damn it!
Ikr!
How about Force Unleashed 3?
