There's a button you can press in the upper left corner of the Drummer interface that will highlight each region as the playhead passes over it, so you can edit on the fly without having to click each new region.
THANK YOU for pointing out this quite simple way of getting inspirational ideas for Drum Patterns! I am saving this to one of my YT Playlists for future reference should I need to watch again!
I found a hidden feature where you can increase the realism of the drummer. I turned it up a little and the drummer turned up late. A little more and Drummer drank all my beer. Turned the dial more and it ran off with my girlfriend so I turned it up all the way and Drummer choked on it's own vomit...
My Apple Drummer brought his crazy gf Tiffany into the session on a separate track, I could not get rid of her until I added the Anders drummer. She then left with him 😆
djairwave thanks, appreciate it! I’m a big fan of your patch and sound design! Thanks for all the great tips. Hails (or epic snowballs) from sweden. ;) Been shoveling snow for three hours last night. Spaghetti arms. LOL.
This is great info! I have never subbed sounds using this method. I have used the procedure below: I create an alias below Drummer then insert Superior Drummer 3 to the alias. When you change patterns in Drummer it changes in the alias! The advantage to this method is you can keep elements of Drummer by muting various tracks between the two. For example: Hihat performances do not translate well to Superior 3 because Logic uses a modified Midi code. In this example I keep the hihat from Drummer, but use the other drum sounds from Superior. Another trick I use to personalize my tracks is to convert the Drummer region to midi and 'fine tune' the performance in the midi edit screen. I most commonly do this when I can't get Drummer to do the drum fill that is in my head. lol. Regardless of workarounds Drummer has changed everything for me and I thank Apple for that.
Question: the control at the centre of logic drummer that helps set the complexity, simplicity, loudness and quietness of the beats, can it be automated? If it could be, then it's possible to make transitions between the sections sound a lot more natural
you can't automate that, but you don't have to, drummer is smart enough to figure out if the next region is softer/louder/simpler/more complex, and gracefully transition with the correct type of fill, crescendo, or whatever.
amazing video, So i am new in Logic , I think I don't have the machina Drummer , is this a logic pro plug in? should I get it somewhere? would you recommend some other plug ins fro drummer? thanks
Just Alias the regions from Logic Drummer to the desired Drum VST/AU track.Mute Drummer.Make sure they are both in GM mapping. Then you can adjust Drummers patterns on the fly too.
Thanks, I really want to use this feature but in a drummer track I'm not given that option to select a different instrument. The button which you used to change drummer to maschine on my machine just says DMD and it opens up the kit controls - not the option to choose different drummer. Help please
Tonee McGuire that’s different ofc! The reason why it doesn’t work is because the edm kits are made of multiple instances of ultra beat nested in a proprietary interface. For edm genres though I’d stick to maschine and the likes anyway. They have far superior patterns too
You need to realize that the Logic drummer is nothing more than a nice skin and some fancy internal routing around traditional plugins and midi-based production patterns. If you think this is great just convert your drummer regions to midi clips by right-clicking on the drummer region and selecting ‘convert to midi’. You can use those in any other application you want or do detailed midi editing if you want. But even better: you can now use the step editor. It will have automatically mapped lanes with the correct drum names containing all of the drummer data as editable midi events.
There's a button you can press in the upper left corner of the Drummer interface that will highlight each region as the playhead passes over it, so you can edit on the fly without having to click each new region.

This is a game changer!! Thanks for sharing the info with us!
very amazing!, it works with Ultrabit, Addictive drums, Ez drummer, Batery etc... thanks for sharing
Great trick Airwave, thank you for sharing. Really useful.
This is an awesome tip, thank you!! It also works with the new native Drum Machine Designer on 10.5
Thank you so much for sharing this trick buddy! God bless you with good health! ❤
Kick ass. Super helpful. Thanks!
Fantastic! Thank you so much for sharing.💎
Ha! This is so good! I used the available logic drummers frequently on tracks. These tips will surely liven up rhythm creativity. Thank you.
Eye opening. Thank you!
Just awesome! I had stumbled onto this same technique a couple years ago and hadn’t figured out how the heck it happened, very cool! Thx for posting
Great info! Thx! Subscribed.
Awesome video thank you!
Love this idea, I'm still new to Logic and this really freshens things up
Awesome!!!! Also, great attitude, brother!!! ✊🏼💥
thank you for the tip!
Unbelievably cool!!!!
Great video!

Shit got dark quick…😂
Dude I feking love this video !
I like it when you get hyped yourself when changing the patterns haha! Good stuff man
Wow this is super mind blowing.... wow thanks for this....
Damn❤ you did blow my mind. Struggled with drumtfor forever
AWESOME Tip......

"you want this? Okaaay" Haha. Awesome tip, awesome video.
Whoa..............I love it.
wow... thanks bro.. god bless you
dude freakin genius.
saved, thank you
hey, that gave me some ideas for the production of new background track for videos on my channel. Thanks
Damn that was too cool
Is there any way to take the loops from ez drummer change them into the logic drummer yellow thing and the n edit it with the logic randomized?
is there a way to break out each drum and design the pattern with precision?
This is pretty cool. Routed to EZ-Drummer and got some great new sounds.
Cool!
And its not click bait, really good, gratulations
Excellent tip Airwave, I never tried this trick in Logic but it’s indeed super useful! ;) Thanks a million!
tack mattias, love your videos btw! :-)
djairwave thanks, appreciate it! I’m a big fan of your patch and sound design! Thanks for all the great tips. Hails (or epic snowballs) from sweden. ;) Been shoveling snow for three hours last night. Spaghetti arms. LOL.
thanks, I'll post more of it. I have a video coming up of my favorite self-created patches in omnisphere, plus a few exclusives in alchemy.
djairwave awesome, looking forward to it!
Wow! Really!! Thanks! This is so awesome. Don’t understand this hasn’t been on any other of the great Logic tutors out there! Love ya man ! :)

Lol look mom I’m drumming without hands!!! I like you ..easy to listen to
drummer is a miracle
Could you do this with the producer kits too?
Interesting in any case, but I have no drum containing plugins or devices to try it out, use it or work with it.

very nice
Wow awesome what was the machine 2 drum au name
Wow top! I use Stylus... but this is better!
"oh my god"!
you know you can move the slider [bottom right] for each piece of kit and there are loops within loops.
That is fabulous... I have never used other software so I don't know Machina. Can you tell us how to get it?
NI maschine. Go check their site native-Instruments.com
I followed along and one observation…the default drummer midi maps are not very well mapped to Maschine Kits
Holy mother of music 👌
amazing video, So i am new in Logic , I think I don't have the machina Drummer , is this a logic pro plug in? should I get it somewhere? would you recommend some other plug ins fro drummer?
thanks
I recommend sonic charges microtonic
Your a genius
thanks!
Just Alias the regions from Logic Drummer to the desired Drum VST/AU track.Mute Drummer.Make sure they are both in GM mapping. Then you can adjust Drummers patterns on the fly too.
And just like that, art is replaced with science. lol
Thank you Laurent! Now I may have to purchase logic Pro X when this 90 day free trial expires, haha. This awesome trick may actually be worth $199USD
I knew you could replace the samples with your own by using the midi with Ub, but had no idea you could use 3rd party stuff!
Is it better than the GarageBand drummer in any way?
vert very cool, thanks for the tip.
I just wish there was a way you could influence the hits of the kick and snare more
Thanks, I really want to use this feature but in a drummer track I'm not given that option to select a different instrument. The button which you used to change drummer to maschine on my machine just says DMD and it opens up the kit controls - not the option to choose different drummer. Help please
This doesn’t work with edm and electronic drummer.
@@AirwaveMusic You just solved this for me. Thanks
it’s an interactive trigger plugin
Mind. Fucking. Blown
Is Maschine 2 a separate software. I can not find it in Logic..
It is! Made by native instruments
There's one more trick, whatever the AI generates depends on the arrangement you set in the top, so, it's different a chorus to a verse and so on....
This is not working for me in Logic Pro X 10.4.5 ! Can`t change the DrmMchn in the Instrument slot to another :-(
Doesn't appear to be working for me either unfortunately!
Why you didn’t ask me this three years ago or even looked on some other videos out there..
This wins
Great stuff! I use ezdrummer this way its a really awesome feature check out my logic drummer video!
hi is there any alternative plugins too this?
To the drummer? There’s a reason 12 player doing similar things
@@AirwaveMusic no i mean the xy pad where i can change drum rhythm i use ableton
@@BFHPET well this is exactly what I mean. Check the players on reason studios site. You can use them in ableton too
Has anyone tried with Battery 4 yet?
ye works well
Fuck me, I should have watched this video 4 years ago 😂😂😂
How are you getting Abbey Road kits to show up in Maschine?
What version of Logic Pro X is this?
10.4!
Current version (10.4.4) doesn’t allow the Drum Kit Designer to be changed to a different plugin.
Tonee McGuire not true. Drummer track here in 10.4.4 and changed the plugin to battery without a hiccup
I see all the other Genres allowing it, but I was using the Electronic and Hip-hop genres, which still don’t allow the plugin to be changed.
Tonee McGuire that’s different ofc! The reason why it doesn’t work is because the edm kits are made of multiple instances of ultra beat nested in a proprietary interface. For edm genres though I’d stick to maschine and the likes anyway. They have far superior patterns too

KA Boozle “nothing more” lol
*mind not blown*
waste! I thougth you would discover cool sounds or stuff
well am I glad that I never wasted any money on Machine. Those are absolutely the worst sounds that I have ever heard.
