"Yeah, I'm stealing it from you. Give me your money." That is good commentary, indeed! --Doug, I love that you're makin' poker vlogs regularly. I don't know anyone else making them that's over 50. And you do such a good job: intro with catchy music, good analysis, graphics, well shot and edited... I used to make travel vlogs (when I was traveling with my family). Man, these vlogs don't make themselves. It takes know-how, creativity, and a lot of time! I've been subscribed for over a year, I watch all your vlogs, and I like 'em. Cheers, Mike
Hey, thanks a ton Mike. It does take a lot of work putting together a vlog. Most people have no idea of the work behind the scenes. I’m getting better at vlogging and editing, as you probably remember, the first few vlogs were pretty bad. I was a complete and total rookie. Hopefully I will continue to grow as a player and vlogger this next year. Thanks for your support, it means the world to me that people are enjoying my poker journey so much.
@@dougmccuskerpoker I don't want to kick this horse too much, but it does not hurt to reinforce this point. Vlogs take a ton of time to put together. Around one minute of vlog requires an hour to produce. I rewatched some of my own travel vlogs just now, since I was thinking about your vlogs, and I loved reminiscing about my family's travels. I had never made a single minute of vlogs before 2018, and it took soooo much time to teach myself. And my first vlogs, like your first vlogs, were not as good as my later ones. But wow, what little treasures they are. Doug, know that when you put these little nuggets of yourself into the RUclips void, some of us watch, and many of us like them. And sometimes, we say so. And you don't have to wonder so much . . .
Thank you for the work you do it has drastically improved my game. I was about to fold and I said “wait a minute the board is paired and I have an ace….got a good read showed him my cards he didn’t look but looked terrified lol. Your content is so valuable to poker players at these limits and so much more realistic for the majority of the community…ranges..bluffs…bet sizing…etc. Ty again. Looking forward to next vlog.
Wow Kevin, you are boosting my ego with all that praise 😀. I am happy to hear that my channel has helped improve your game. Poker is fun when you’re not losing. Keep studying and improving. Of course keep watching the channel too 😀. As you develop as a player, reads and gut feelings will improve to the point where you can sometimes predict your opponents plays. Ed Miller has several good books, The Course and Playing the Player, both are easy to read with valuable information. Modern Poker Theory is a tough study that will educate you on GTO ideas. It’s more relevant for tougher games and higher stakes. Thanks for your support!
Loved the JTs hand, very easily could have lost the maximum! You raise flop, he cheekily calls and that turn would have you thinking more often than not you're good. I would have absolutely lost everything there, great read and play!
8:00 Why are you checking back the turn (before you turn more equity)? Do you think he has a better queen? I guess it depends on whether you think he's more likely to have a worse queen or a better queen. If he has a 3, then he check-raises you, and you fold. But don't be hesitant to get value if you think it's there.
It's worth noting that he didn't x/r you on the turn with his 3. I would have planned, BTW, to check back blank rivers because it starts to get harder to get value from worse.
When you didn't want to call with Trip ten's another great read , we don't need you to call just so we can see what you lost to just fold and save money, love the vlogs
I under rep my hand so much that I felt my opponent might be acting strong because of my perceived weakness. But I should have probably got away from it.
Doug - in most places people actually have to stack their chips. It's a rule. We make it quite easy to keep a card under there. You can also call the floor and someone playing excessively slow. The casinos don't like it because it slows down the rake and obviously the players hate it.
Yeah, it slowed things down quite a bit, but he was the type of player that you didn't want leaving the game. Couple people asked him to speed up and dealers were helping him stack his chips. But if he won a pot, it took 2-3 hands to get them stacked.
10:00 Raise here is *mandatory*. There are a million draws out and he could be betting them. He could have a worse 10. You said he's conservative, but unless he's *insanely* nitty, you need to get value from worse and protect against draws here. I'd make it $140.
His bet sizing and body language had me worried, he was playing very nitty. My hand could use protection, but the other two players looked like they were folding. If he had bet smaller or I thought the other players were interested, I would feel compelled to raise.
Another great vlog. I think you could have bet bigger otf in the 54s hand (middle card flop with possible sd and fd), and smaller in the AJs hand (hi-low-low rainbow flop). Good job not losing more to JJ!
@@KenDavis-uo8kq I remember you Ken, the drop is $5 max. Bomb pots do create action but in general I prefer the regular flow to the game. Some people shame others to participate, but is your not interested, just sit out that hand every dealer change. Straddling is geared towards those who are deeper stacked and want to play bigger. I do it occasionally, but if I want to play bigger, I should move up in stakes. Capitol has a no drop rules for chop pots and $1 drop with no flop in the 1-3 game. Excellent and affordable place to play.
A lot of work for $20. Welcome to my poker world! I probably would have done worse because a couple of times when you jammed with nothing I probably would have checked/called to the river. My ability to read weakness usually results in someone going over the top and jamming on me.
AJs vs AK: I think your assessment of villain's range is backward (imho). I believe, after he calls a near-pot bet, villain will have mostly sets (probably only 55, but when villain shows AK, we can't really discount QQ completely either), 2pr, Ax, combo draws, and pair-plus-draw hands. I think he will have few naked draws by this point ott. I ran this range vs AJhh on Equilab: equity is 50/50.You're definitely way ahead otf, but ott, not so much.
once he calls the turn bet, his mix of hands is more to value. went from 60% draw, 30% Ax, 10% 2 pair or better to 40% draw 20% Ax, 40% 2 pair or better.
In that Q❤J❤ hand. When u asked ur opponent if he had any black chips and he said No, what do u think would have happened if both of u got it all in and it turns out he did have a few black chips behind...? You won that hand but let's suppose you didn't.
I’m not afán of bomb pots, variance is already high enough with just a regular game. I suppose I’d be social and participate. Just wonder is participation required? Does it require everyone to agree?
I generally agree to chop SB versus BB. I’ve never been forced to post straddles though I do occasionally post button straddles. I’ve never been involved with bomb pots. If they were infrequent and for nominal amounts I’d prolly go along. If they occurred frequently or for large amounts I’d decline. I never play PLO.
@@KenDavis-uo8kq I’d never agree to that, never ever even seen that happen. Not sure the house would allow it and usually it’s no flop, no drop (rake).
