She was NOT intersex. Her doctors in Denmark agreed that she was an anatomically normal male who had complete emasculation. It did not take 5 operations, either. She was castrated in 1951, had her penis amputated in 1952, and had a vaginoplasty in 1954 (in New Jersey, after her return to The United States). Christine herself peddled the belief that she had female organs. That belief had no basis in fact. She preferred that belief because she was deeply homophobic and vehemently denied ever having been gay, or ever having crossdressed.
