She seems like such a lovely, intelligent and warm person. As a transgender female myself I really wish that I could have had the privilege of meeting her and I think she remains a wonderful role model for trans women.
She was a class act who helped pave the way for all the transgendered people that followed. She lifted the veil and let the world know that trans people are not to be feared, misunderstood or relegated to the fringes of society. The fact that she carried her message with such grace and beauty only made her that much more special. Definitely a kindred soul who will be missed.
Why was everyone so accepting and respectful of this transgender in the 1950s when it was supposed to be such a conservative era and transgenders were so rare?
Christine Jorgensen was so effortlessly eloquent, and elegant, but at the same time humble: a very classy and brave individual who weathered the storm that surrounded her sex change operation with such equanimity.
I don't know, but they were also classier in general then than they are now, as evidenced by Christine herself. I've seen other transsexuals, but none with the grace and poise of Christine. I'm a woman, and I can scarcely stop listening to her or looking at her! Such charm! I have sometimes wondered how I would feel to fall in-love w/ someone and later find out that they are transgender. And, I always felt that that would weird me out a bit. But, Christine is so darn classy, I wouldn't care!
Crazy that people are far more outraged and disrespectful about Caitlyn Jenner today than they were back then, and that was supposed to be a more conservative era.
Jorgensen revealed her struggles with depression in his autobiography. He explained how his mental health deteriorated after his transition and contemplated suicide but did not act on it.

An elegant individual and an eloquent speaker. Every interview with Christine Jorgensen is riveting and memorable.
This woman could teach a lot of people how to be a decent human being.
I believe She saved my life . I was looking for a way to end myself . when I found a old magazine story about her . She was my Hero .

despite how many decades ago this was, it shows people tend to behave with dignity even on matters they do not understand.
People were so well spoken back then

She won woman of the year way before Caitlyn lmao
She’s so elegant and pretty, the beauty that modern girls try to achieve but would come naturally to those back then.. stunning.

For the first ever sex change operation she doesn't look bad.
Christine would've made a lovely Auntie Mame onstage.
