Tim Burton wanted to make a movie like the Disney cartoon short with Bing Crosby. So he made a movie that was nothing like the original book - or the cartoon. There’s a lot I like about it, but only if I keep in mind that this is a Hammer Horror film. Don’t believe me? A lot of the supporting cast, including the king of Hammer Horror, Christopher Lee, were in the classic films from the 70s. Sleep Hollow is a short train ride north of Manhattan along the Hudson River. The cemetery and Dutch church exist. The covered bridge, however, no longer exists, but you can view the waterway where it once stood.
If the fight moves of the headless horseman looked somewhat familiar … that's because the stuntman was Ray Park. Yes, the guy who played Darth Maul in Star Wars Episode 1 and Toad in the first X-Men movie.

Ya know its funny you mentioned how Ichabods dad looked like a Sith Lord because there are 2 Sith Lords in the movie lol.
Three. Maul, Dooku, and Palpatine.
Tim Burton was making a love letter to the hammer horror movies when he made this. That's why Christopher Lee is there. That's why Michael Gough is there. Not only did Tim Burton use Michael Gough as Alfred in the '90s Batman movies, but he and Christopher leave were in the first hammer Dracula and while Peter Cushing (Grand Moff Tarkin from Star wars) who was also in the hammer Dracula didn't appear as he had been long dead we did get Ian McDiarmid (Emperor Palpatine from Star wars)
Yesss let's goooo this is such a great film for Halloween u will definitely lose your head over it haha😂
Sleep Hollow is a short train ride north of Manhattan along the Hudson River. The cemetery and Dutch church exist. The covered bridge, however, no longer exists, but you can view the waterway where it once stood.
I love Johnny Depp, he is so funny 😂❤
I'm pretty sure this is just the harry potter cast on a side quest
lol exactly!
The Legend of Sleepy Hallow was I believe inspired by the Irish folklore of the Dullahan.
If the fight moves of the headless horseman looked somewhat familiar … that's because the stuntman was Ray Park.
Yes, the guy who played Darth Maul in Star Wars Episode 1 and Toad in the first X-Men movie.
as a Star Wars fan, it is soo cool seeing Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) and Count Dooku (Sir Christopher Lee) in a film together outside of those legendary roles. this is a great movie though: the acting, story, mood, and atmosphere is top tier.
And this is why Uncle Vernon hated magic
SWEENY TODD w Johnny Depp. You would most likely enjoy too!
The movie shows Ichabod taking a *two days* train trip to sleepy hollow...Fun fact: It's only a *one hour* ride by train.
-I can only imagine Walkin's rehearsal for this movie.
-Ricci gained a little weight for this role... To make her boobs stand out. It's something she does.
@5:44 Yes, he played Professor Dumbledore. That’s Sir Michael Gambon R.I.P. October 19, 1940 - September 27, 2023.
This is my all time favorite movie to watch almost all year round
12:54 yes yes she is
Great movie - one of Burton's best IMO
the entire cast was phenomenal, as was the adaptation! i watch it at LEAST twice a year!
Nothing like having Dumbledore, Belatrix, and Dursley in one great movie and then you include Johnny Depp and Casper Van Dien. Not to mention Christina Ricci and Christopher Lee who also was in Star Wars episode 3 and in all of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit
the scene where Johnny Depp got scared to death by this witch Still haunt me in my Nightmares and i Swallow my Heart in Fear and Horror from it
I always think of this movie as a sequel to the original LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW by Washington Irving.
Impressive that all Sleepy Hollow was on a sound stage.
You caught Dumbledore, you caught Harry's Uncle Vernon; did you notice the witchy stepmother who controlled the Headless Horseman was Rita Skeeter?
This is THE movie that traumatized me as a 6 year old, gave me nightmares for months and a life long not so really fear, but more disturbance of decapitation. 😂
I’ve never seen the movie *since* and idk if I have the nerve to do so… 😨
You're parents let you watch this at 6?
YES lol my dad showed it to me when I was around the same age and the witch gave me nightmares for weeks
Classic 90's horror! One of my favorite Johnny Depp movies. Glad you're reacting to this.
I remember watching the making of this movie and the actor who played Darth Maul in Star Wars played the Headless Horseman.
8:00 - ...and in the room with Cpt. Jack Sparrow is...

Richard Griffiths (Uncle Vernon, Harry Potter)
Francis Gough (Alfred Pennyworth, Batman x 4)
Jeffrey Jones (Dean "Ed" R. Rooney, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off)
Miranda Richardson (Queen Elizabeth, Blackadder the Third)
Additional…
The first victim in the carriage - Martin Landau (Cmdr. John Koenig, Space 1999)
The young man at the dance. Casper Van Dien (Johnny Rico, Starship Troopers)
The young woman at the dance - Christina Ricci (Wednesday Addams, The Addams Family)
The Burgomaster/Judge - Christopher Lee (Saruman, Lord of the Rings / Count Dracula, Horror of Dracula / Sir Henry Baskerville, The Hound of the Baskervilles / Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock Holmes and the Deadly Necklace / Fu Manchu, The Face of Fu Manchu / The Wicker Man, Lord Summerisle / Victor, Return from Witch Mountain and Star Wars: Ep 3 Count Dooku - Plus dozens more. Lee was an amazingly prolific actor.
I love that after being told about the hessian he’s tea cup has shaking
The horseman stabbed the widow in the stomach at the correct angle to not just kill the baby, but to behead it.
Imagine casting Christopher Walken in your movie, and having him not say a word. Crazy.
This movie has so many effing recognizable actors and actresses
Rico from Starship Troopers. Michael Keaton's Batman's butler.
Count Dooku
Emperor Palpatine
Willy Wonka
Wednesday Adams
Ferris Bueller's Principal.
The second Albus Dumbledore
Dursly
Toad/ Maul
........ and Max Schreck lol
I would love to visit Sleepy Hollow just once. It's like a five hour drive from where I live.
Maybe next Halloween.
Yeah, flour explodes, so dropping it in the windmill is a neat way to get an explosion in the movie XD
Tim burton, when you give him something good to work.
He does a very good movie
I forgot until watching this that Ray Park (Darth Maul) is the body of the headless horseman!
I always loved the tree of the dead. It looks like a hooded person turning and looking back at you.
The woman who played Ichabod’s mother,Lisa Marie, used to be Tim Burton’s Fiance’ before he abruptly ended it, believe it or not haha.
Darth Maul did a good job performing the Horseman's stunts.
Such a fun film and loved the stunts and riding! Great atmosphere and loved the cast. Met casper at the san siego comic con cause he was the only one to appear for the panel lol he was a sweetheart and a great experience! 1999 was right before comic con got crazy lol.. but still a fun time at the movie and panel
Great reaction. If you haven't seen it already:
Dog Soldiers, 2002. Werewolves, Special Forces, reserve soldiers, explosions, shooting, gore and a bit of romance. You'd like it.
Don't worry, ladies and gentlemen. More humans were injured performing stunts with horses than the horses.
Ichabod's mom was Tim Burton's girlfriend at the time. She is also the Martian Girl in Mars Attacks!
"Watch your head" was an ad lib by Miranda Richardson.
It's Ray Park, Ian mcdirmand , and sir Christopher Lee
12:11 Recreating the classic image from the Disney animated Legend of Sleepy Hollow! Well done!!!
The first time I saw a part of this movie, I think I was 5 or 6 and I’m 29 now…it was the part of when he was having that dream about his mom I think and he was a kid..obviously I wasn’t scared cause I didn’t really know what was going on 😂😂 When I really watched this movie, I was in middle school and I loved it lol💕💕 the cast is wonderful and the acting is really good..I’ve always like the sleepy hallow story and movies that are out there
I remember eating popcorn while watching this movie
