Nice video! I like to buy local if possible from smaller shops as opposed to chain stores. Where I got my 462 is from a small shop with two old guys like myself that have the time to talk about what they’re selling and they sell Stihl exclusively. For bucking firewood I really love my Stihl saws and I appreciate the weight savings with the Stihl saws as well. So the two old guys have this small shop and both actually work on saws and have for many years, not a young kid who has no real practical knowledge about what he is selling for the most part. I bought a 261 from them and liked it enough that I bought a second one as a wedding gift, the couple had a Husqvarna home owners saw on their wish list. So instead of the bottom end saw I got them all lined out with safety chaps, gas can, a six pack of oil for the extended warranty, storage box, files, two extra chains and a professional grade saw. I had the old guys switch it over to 3/8ths and a 20 inch bar too. At the wedding I just put an envelope with the receipt in it and a note on the gift table so all they needed to do was just go pick it up and get the lowdown from the two old guys. I never heard back from the couple, thank you kiss my ass nothin. I guess they didn’t like it or I liked them a lot more than they liked me, oh well. The two old guys will never forget me though. :) So then I call the two old guys up and told them I was wanting a 462, you bet they remembered me. They told me they had only one left so I asked them to put my name on it and I went over and picked it up the next day. You go to one of these big box stores you never see the same guy twice. I know without a doubt that if I ever need any help with my saws I got two old very experienced guys who will remember me and help me out.
I think they both are good saws. I own a 394XP and a 21R weed eater both run great, not sure on the age of the 394 but I bought the whacker in 1990 and it has taken care of the farm and three rental houses been in shop once. Sold on Husky.

It's a little "old school" trick from the days when saws were ALL magnesium and a giant heat sink but one way to get past that is to put a small squirt of gas into the intake. It never hurts to keep a small syringe in the work tools to do just that for when the weather is terrible. More than a cc or 2 will flood it but it'll pop off most of the time.
Stihl please. When you buy a Stihl the store always fuels up the saw and oils it and then starts it in front of you. Very impressive. Will always buy Stihl for that reason and of course they produce a quality product.

Well done, great review, either saw's a winner. I've got 3 old MS 460's ... I put a barker box on 1 ... then put on my best square ground chain and scared the heck out of myself .. It would eat my 660. That saw is 40% faster than my other old round filed machine. I know its a pain but if you cut a lot of wood it's a game changer getting a Simongton 451C and learning how to file square ground.
If a quality job was done and ports balanced it should run longer barring any other factors that can significantly shorten the life of a 2 stroke engine. The engine runs cooler and more efficiently with more oil mixed gas passing through the system per rpm keeping it well lubed also.
basically you can compare the cut times with the 7900 video, it's the same bar, chain, sprocket and piece of wood ;) but i will do a shoot out cut with all the videos soon.

Ouch. If that was a cold saw at the start of the video, and it sure sounded cold, revving it full throttle 5 seconds after starting and going full power into big wood less than 20 seconds later is... well, abusive, in my opinion. Otherwise, well done, especially using the same bar and chain. I think the Husky is 71 cc's versus the Stihl's 77, and that would be an impressive showing for the Swede.

Its impossible to replicate the same pressure on each saw when you lever, self feeding cuts with a bigger sprocket are the most precise way to measure the saw ;)
I'm still new to these two, i had not much time, customers needed them for work. I got around 22% percent on both, they're pretty even powerwise, but the 462 is a tad faster, but the 572 has stronger bottom end (crank, rod, bearings) it will easily take on a jug with 80cc or more if husqvarna decides to do 580xp or something in the future.
Basically the Stihl is lighter and slightly more powerful. The Husqvarna is built with more longevity in mind but gains a pound and has a little less power. Id take both, 18” on the Stihl and use it for in tree saw, 20” on Husky use it for a ground saw with my 25” 661c

Mario Massari I dont even know what it is..

Porting involves removing excess material in the engines ports. It doesn't always mean making it bigger. It can be as simple as removing casting flash leftover from manufacturing. The most common is to "clean up " the ports. But the port shape, size an position will change engine characteristics. Typically this involves using a die grinder to do the work or air dremel( think dentist drill) in the tight spots. However this is not a 1 STEP process, more air means more fuel, means more exhaust gases. So the whole system has to be tuned, carb, ports, pipe to utilize the new found air flow. Sorry if i confused you but i tried to explain.
Excellent demonstration for comparing these excellent saws. Stihl seems slightly better and is a slightly lighter saw. What I don't understand is what does porting do to the engine and why would you alter the factory setting?
Xtra performance . I live at 450 500 feet. Every saw I ever bought has to be adjusted to run well at my altitude.
Bigger ports mean More air and fuel = more power. Factory anything has room for improvement.

Good 👍
I would like to buy a 462 but my dad won’t let me because he doesn’t like supporting companies that are wholly owned by one rich family. He also won’t let me shop at Aldi for the same reason.
Poulan would beat them both lol
I worked all day with a stick saw for years .all this porting does is take away what little power they have in the low end .The noise sucks and you get caught in Oregon is a 1000 dollars ticket every time other than that it's a cool video
Good for oregon glad I live in NC
nice video :)

Deutsch?
Ja ;)
Oh das ist schön zu hören :)
Hallo was hast du denn genau verändert an der 462? Mfg Timo
Молодец, очень познавательный ролик, лайк.
Service after the sale...
Ahhhh .... these gloves 😎 ....
Yep , yes sir. Ford vrs Chevy.
572 5.4 up and 462 6.0 hp
the 572xp has 4.3kw stock wich is 5.9hp, not 5,4. Both saw's in the video are woodsported with a squish/base cut and a mufflermod, so they got a noticeable amount of extra power ;)
Mua cho minh cai voi ah.
Sthil le meilleur N 1
Bravo Stihl 👏👏👍👍
