Most people are biased towards one brand or another, but I think they’re both great saws and you really can’t go wrong with either. It’s all about what you’re used to operating and where you can get it serviced at.

The Husky was cutting into the log behind it on the first cut which slowed it down. These saws are so close in comparison, the average person probably could tell them apart when it comes to power only ergonomics. Stihl has went more in the direction of Husqvarna than Husqvarna to Stihl in the last 10 years. With the 500i hitting the market, Stihl is braving the path forward at the moment with its technology. Great to have competition, we all benefit. Thanks Redbull661 for your time and video.

I run both and you can not go wrong with either saw. In my professional opinion a 32 inch bar or smaller is best for this size chainsaw.. if you want to run a 36 then buy a ms500i, ms661, 390xp or 395xp. Opening up the exhaust really wakes both up but they are 2 of the best chainsaws made by the top 2 companies. I put dual ports on the 572 and it runs and sounds mean! With that said both of these saws are for professionals and too much saw for the average home owner.

@@lucas2424mc it frees up a ton of power and sounds mean. Any chainsaw I buy I open up the exhaust because their airflow is overly restricted from the factory and run better more exhaust flow.

I had to file the rakers on my archer chain give a good hand filing before it would cut the way I like it. With any new chain I file the rakers out of the box. I like a chain to cut and the weight of the saw will pull it through the wood. Both nice saws but I run a 462 and it’s a beast

Looks like across the board the 462 is a tad faster both in your demonstration as well as a few others. That said i myself an a husky fan. The Air filtration is great on Husqvarna although heavier than the stihl. So whats the takeaway here?
    1: both fantastic saws
    2: dealer support
3: whats more comfortable to operate for different users
4: price (contractors can get fleet pricing on Husqvarna)
    5: inboard vs outboard clutch
Really could go on and on i believe however its really user preference i guess.

My 462 does get quite a bit more in the air box than you would expect with a sharp chain and the air injection. I don't know if something is off or not. I run my 2071 with a winter filter because there is basically nothing in the air box after 4-5 tanks versus the 462 that has fines all over the carb and built up in the pleats of the filter.

Not a fair review at all. Muffler mods make a huge difference, weather you notice it or not. That husky would run circles around the stihl if not had a muffler mod. Also, you were cutting the log behind with the tip completely robbing the husky’s time making it look worse. Lucky you didn’t get a kick back.

In 5 years when the stihls on the bench torn apart because she popped all while the huskys out in the mountains still running strong let me know how happy you are then lol. Im not biased, just these two saws are not the same idea the only thing close is their displacement. Husky is way over built yet has awesome power to weight, stihl is built decent and has best power to weight. Except does the bigger heavier duty bearings weight more than "good enough for now" bearings?
If time prooves me wrong fck it then lol but no one wants a saw thatll blow up in only a couple years like some of the early 562s, for stihl to built 462 as duty shell then out weight the husky

Dont buy there cheap stuff or you may as well just go to wallmart and buy a throwaway !! But i just prefer husky over stihl because bang for buck !!$$$ husky always just seem to cut that bit faster !! I’ll say up front I have a 462 (25”) bar. I’ve used it on one tree job since new, bone stock and it’s a saw that you love to run. Light and balanced with good speed in the cut. I can’t badmouth Husqvarna as I’ve never owned one. I have a great Stihl dealer locally so that’s the main reason I run them. The dealership support for Husqvarna is very poor in my area, actually nonexistent for the XP pro series saws. A few “dealerships” have come and gone in past years but were sketchy to say the least. So I guess I’m stuck with Stihl. I’m glad to see the 462 doing a decent job with a 36” bar. I think that’s to big for it, I have a 660 for that work.

#1 reason to buy Stihl is dealer support. Husky dealers are sparse and their customer service sucks.

Dealer availability is why I have Stihl saws.

Dealer support is key but whether Stihl or Husky has better support depends greatly on where you live

Husky better thane 462. Have a wide power torqe, stihl is so much higer rpm but so much high temperature. So...stihl 462 is so much db nois because muffler.is veri open!

20 minutes of tape has only a few minutes of quality. Don't make 20 minute videos, anyway. You can't get most people to even click on that long a video.
I once had to cut a 1500 word article down to 500. I got it down to 498 and it was a much better piece.

What the husky hove more of a 2 stroke Bing Bing sound and feel. You must own 1 sthil and never own or run other saws. That what's funny about the sthil guys lol. I run and own both in my buisness. Husky 45cc to 60cc saws all day over sthil. Ms290 is smoothest saw you will ever run but won't cut with husky same size. Big saws they all cut about the same stock. Lol I love 372xps by far the best saw ever built. And I like the 660s. I have a 660 that's has over 7 million ft on it with just intake and exhaust porting. 572s good 462s good but i have both and still go for my 372s. The saw- bar combination is critical for peak performance and longjevity even if ported.

Stepp of Faith your comparison should be with 261 stihl in the 50cc category, that little saw will get after it!!!

I would like to buy a 462 but my dad won’t let me because he doesn’t like supporting companies that are wholly owned by one rich family. He also won’t let me shop at Aldi for the same reason.

So we just gonna act like we didn't see the 462 cut them noodles that much better than 572 ? IStihlOnlyUseStihl for a reason. Stihl has that torque baby. Can't beat it.

I have used both ,572 has more torque than the 462
