    Great Video! Just bought the U8K on sale at BB and thank you so much for your thorough settings video! I've been deciding on if I want to keep this TV as everything is so bright out of the box and the stupid low resolution Google Home menu makes the TV look pretty sad in that regards anyways. This video is helping. I followed your calibration for my U8K and worked pretty good except reds were too brown so I just had to change the RED Color Tuner Saturation to -5 from -7.
    🙋‍♂One Question if you have time... Do you know what the Gamma Calibration Input Level and Gain do and could that help at all ??? The whites in a Windows 11 PC environment are still overly bright and burn my eyes :(

    Hi, thanks a lot for the settings table. I set my UH8 exactly, as you advised. Everything looks perfect except one moment. I noticed that in studio (like CNN, for example) women's faces have kind of bluish tone on the most bright areas. Reminds mens ( brunette) freshly shaved skin tone. But I don't see this effect on movies! Probably I need some settings adjustments? What would you recommend? Thanks again.

    Just got the TV and did all of your recommended calibrations. The only problem is, I'm using my TV as a moniter and right now all of my colors are all grey and hazy. For example right now here on youtube on my old TV the comments sections and everything was in black mode but now it looks dark grey, but the color and blacks in the video look fine. I also noticed that when i connected the TV to my PC it showed something like resolution 4K 60hz but then it also showed 1080p. So I don't even know if I'm getting a 4K picture. I checked the Nvidia settings for my GPU (RTX 2070S) and it's showing 4k 60hz and also the windeows display settings is showing 4k 60hz. It seems like everything is just messed up on this TV right now and it looks horrible. I'm also getting some pretty horrible input lag on my mouse.
    Edit: I just checked the Display settings again within Windows, I switched it from HDR to SDR and now everything looks better although again the blacks on my menus and haere on youtube are a dark grey instead of black. Also it is showing Desktop Mode: 4k 60hz but Active Signal Mode is set at 1080p 60hz also text on the screen now looks brighter but has some weird coloring going on.

I understand from your videos that I should have different picture settings for SDR content and for HDR content but am unclear as to how to actually set that up. Thank you for the settings. Just curious, in HDR settings, I see the backlight set to 100. I've seen comments where having backlight to max might generate heat and bring down the life of the TV over time. Can we balance that with a lower backlight but more brightness setting? If so, what would be the ideal number? Thanks in advance.

      I'm wondering the same thing. Noticed the tv was really warm. First tv I bought in a few years so I thought maybe they are all like that now

    • @loopymofo
      @loopymofo Год назад +6

      Any TV with a backlight set to 100 will generate lots of heat. These tv's are designed this way and have grates to help the heat escape. Sure it will lower the life span of your TV, but so will leaving it on 12 hours a day with a lower backlight. it's all common issues but nothing to be worried about.
      If you like the vibrant and saturation of the high brightness & HDR, then by all means set it that way, especially if you have lots of light around you most of the time. If you want, you can lower it down to about 85 and then raise it up bit by bit until you hit a point that looks good to you. The backlight is what will give you that pop in HDR Footage. However, it isn't for everyone.
      My Sony that just died was always at 100 for back light and live color for that extra pop. It died 8 years after I bought it from a power failure due to an old surge protector i should have replaced years ago. Otherwise that tv was always warm but never gave me any issues, and it was a 1st Gen 4K/HDR tv and it was a mid range television. I upgraded to the 55" U8H.
