A stat that was amazing. Herbert is 25 and 4 when the defense holds the opposition to 25 points or less. A good defense is the most important
Now most of our big ticket paychecks are on defense (Mack bosa Derwin) and our best draft capital is on offense (last five 1st rders not counting the trade for K9)
They still don’t have a #1 cb. Their cb room is still in question so hopefully one of their rooks will step up.

@@dandeitch3459I think Zont is a bonafide starting CB, they just need to find someone opposite him. I really like Cam Hart, I think he can develop to be that guy. I don't think he's a day one starter, but his top end comp is Richard Sherman if he pans out, and Harbaugh was the HC at Stanford when Sherman made the move to CB originally. I expect Still to be the day one nickel unless someone else surprises me. It's just about filling the other outside spot at this point.

Josh Palmer will have an excellent year, barring injury. He is soooooo underrated from his draft class, and around the league. He made the clutch catch to beat the Raiders early last year, and he is now the receiver with most time spent with Herbert, HE WILL EAT!
He will always be solid if unspectacular like he has been up till this point. He’s had plenty of opportunities to raise his game at the X with injuries at WR and the results were mixed. So I think we have a good idea of who he is and what hes good at this point.

Palmer would be a solid #3 receiver on several teams
He’s gonna need to have a good year, but I see him as a 700 yard receiver this year

charger fans will see in time that chark is a solid deep threat option but injury prone and cornelius johnson will likely be practice squad but has better chance to stick than people realize

Cj is going to be to the chargers the same way Hines ward was to the Steelers because he blocks down field and on running plays

Im inpressed with what Jimbaugh and JoHo were able to do with a bad roster and "Cap Hell" so far.....it's not going to be perfect this season, but they solidified the hell out of the line by getting Alt. This is an "eat your vegetables" kind of offseason because of a broken roster and cap Hell...but we ate out vegetables, still had an exciting offseason full of wins and movement, and are looking at a 2025 without Cap Hell and where Best Player Available could more easily extend beyond the vegetables that provide essential nutrients...Hortiz isnt above drafting a Kyle Hamilton or Zay Flowers when the holes are filled and BPA is there..and you know what he can do to a TE room!

Great content. And coaches need Herbert's feedback. Which receivers does he have the best intuitive connection with. QB knows where they're going .. and they know where he's throwing. Especially when Justin has to scramble or under pressure 🎯

Here's a shocking stat. QJ technically only dropped 2 passes the other "Drops" were during contested catch situations which he drew alot of Pass Interference Penalties on the opposing defenses.

The receiver room is going to feature some intense competition which tends to bring out the best in professional athletes. They added three rookies to the mix so not everybody is going to make it and some of these guys may end up with another team after the Turk gives the final notice. Someone will emerge as Herbert's favorite on third down and get the most targets. I miss Allen already and I wish him the best in Chicago, but time marches on and so will the Chargers.
Why am i hearing so many people referring to Quentin Johnston as "Johnson"? It's JOHNSTON!
I never hear anyone say that, when they say Johnson they're talking about Cornelius, not QJ.

Defense wins championships typically. I'm a long time Super Charger fan (56 yrs old). My main concern has been our injuries and now that we have a stud trainer, I'm hoping it changes everything cuz we've always drafted well. I argued with a friend 20+ yrs ago regarding injuries. He said the obvious 'Every team has injuries' which is obvious but I felt like the Bolts had more. So I wrote to ESPN and they didn't have the stats but went and got them and sure enough, it was Chargers most, Dolphins and then Cowboys. Since then I've always thought the Bolts need to train in the mountain cold or something but maybe strength training will solve?
I've been a fan for 50 years. Pretty cool that ESPN responded to you.
Not only was it the injuries, our GM’s haven’t gotten any depth for this team until now.

@@reagan0809 CJ knows the offense, hes been playing in it for years. Brendan said his dad is going to be putting him to work and doing all his workouts with him. McConkey was a 2nd round pick. Thats 3 WRs right there who could get a starting spot over QJ unless he improves greatly. I didnt even mention Chark and Palmer

QJ was a first round talent?? huh, so was JaMarcus Russell, Ryan Leaf, Aikido Smith, Charles Rogers and....that list is huge. I'm hoping for QJ but not holding my breath. Staley destroyed anything QJ had and rebuilding confidence is harder than recovering from injury.

week one matchup with chiefs, I have mixed feelings about. one, will the offense and defense be ready to go. But, week one, the chiefs wont have any game film to plan a strategy. but, chargers would have to dominate that game to win. Imo, the chiefs are the prima donna, so the REFS will play a role in a close game. remember the thursday night game where the REFS took away 4 mahomes interceptions? remember the game last year where mahomes was hit IN BOUNDS that was called a penalty, but when Herbert was hit out of bound, they DIDN'T call a penalty. they called the penalty on US for reacting to the hit OUT OF BOUNDS. no, favored teams get the calls in their favor. would LOVE to see the chargers win the division if for no other reason, to shut up all the Herbert nay sayers. you know, he's over rated cause he hasn't won any playoff games.
granted, new coaching staff, but I see Ladd Mc Conkey replacing Austin Ekeler as being Herberts safety valve. Nothing open down field, dump off to Ladd, make positive yards, and maybe he adds YAC and moves the chains. I used to yell at the T V on 3rd and short, 4th and short WHY DON'T they put in an extra O lineman. I liked Staley's FIRST year when he would go for it on 4th and goal inside the 5. IF you dont get it, they have to go 95 plus yards to score. IF you have a good defene, you probably force them to punt from deep in their territory and get the ball back in good field position. But, going for it on your own side of the field is just DUMB. playing your starters in a meaningless regular season game and losing your starters to injury before a playoff game is just DUMB. Andy Reid doesn't do that. and, the only people confused by staley's defense was the chargers defenders.

Traditionally in a power run, you need a quick underneath guy and am over the top speed demon.
Hayden Hurst, will catch 60+ balls, dude is a beast when healthy.
Hurst has never had 60+ rec in a season.
