- NWA Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling house show footage -- late 70's early 80's featuring Blackjack Mulligan vs Big John Studd.
Like most house show footage, this match contains no commentary.
Both of these guys left us with some great memories.
Rare gem! Thank you for the upload. John Studd is one of my favorite wrestlers.
I love that it's just them and the crowd. None of the commentary crap.
Sure miss wrestling like this
I have actually heard of people saying they wish this exact match was available to watch, well thanks to RUclips and the uploader and whoever filmed this, we got it and that's awesome
this was back when it was real, damn that crowds going crazy
Man how I loved and miss the 70s wrestling days...NO MUSIC, NO DUMB-ASS GIMMICKS, NO BIG STAGE SHOWS WERE NEEDED TO FILL SEATS..
JUST REAL GREAT WRESTLERS THAT WERE TRULY TOUGH AND DIDN'T MIND BLEEDING A LOT!!!
I grew up in Dothan Alabama.
Southeastern Championship Wrestling w/Ron Fuller, Bob Armstrong, Robert Fuller, Jimmy Golden, Arn Anderson & Jerry Stubbs who were the Southeastern Tag Team Champs a lot, The Wrestling Pro, Dick Dunn, Don Carson Austin Idol, Joe LeDuc Ronny Garvin Terry "Bam-Bam"Gordy, Michael P.S.HAYES...and on & on were there in the 70s.
Ox Baker, Hulk Hogan a.k.a.(Terry The Hulk Bolder) Ed Bolder a.k.a.(Brutus The Barber Beefcake) Andre The Giant, Terry Funk, Dirty Dutch Mantell, Harley Race, RIC Flair was in Dothan for a few months also.
Houston Co.Farm Center was an old fashioned red dirt floor and every Friday night it was sold out.
These WRESTLERS never come to the ring w/music...just the fans either cheering or booing when they walked out.
There will never be a decade of wrestling to compare.
Some of my best childhood memories were there w/my dad and my best friends.
CHILLBUMPS!!!!
At the end of the night you could walk right up to them...babyfaces or heels and they would always have time to talk to fans...
Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Terry Funk. Ox Baker were 4 of the nicest, most well mannered, fan loving guys I ever got to meet...I remember them really taking a lot of time with OLDER fans like my grandpa and small kids.
Just my opinion from a REAL WRESTLING OLD SCHOOL LOVING FAN THAT WILL ALWAYS LOVE AND NEVET FORGET THESE DAYS...
THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES AND THE REMINISCING TEARS
GUYS...
MUCH LOVE FROM MOBILE ALABAMA.
Well said !
I saw these two wrestle each other at The Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. Great matches.
the good old days!
Studd vs Mulligan was one of my fave match ups back in the day. probably saw them fight between 5-10 times.
RETURN TO YOUR SEATS , RETURN TO YOUR SEATS, RETURN TO YOUR SEATS LOLOL
Legend says those people still haven't returned to their seats.
Two massive guys and one great brawl
Sure miss crowds who went wild like this.
+Lane Crooks YES.....REAL LEGIT RASSLIN CHEERS....not chanting "You suck"...or "Boring".....today's crowds are all about getting "on TV".
+Kellucky69 was this in Kingsport? I know Mulligan owned and was running East TN/SWVA with Crockett guys at the time, and John Studd and the Masked Superstar were often his kayfabe rivals. Flair was supposed to come in but never showed. I also saw a poster for Mid-Atlantic card at Holston HS in the early 80's with Flair and Steamboat listed on the card.
+Lane Crooks If you watch WWE today the crowd is so quiet you end up looking for a casket in the ring...
Patrick Simmons LMAO....good one!
***** Lol yeah...
Those people were going nuts!! So awesome to see that
I love how the Audience reaction to this match
Someone should really do a documentary or maybe even book, about all of the great families that were in professional wrestling.
RIP Blackjack Mulligan; November 26, 1942 - April 7, 2016
Blackjack left quite a legacy, his family will carry on the tradition for many years to come
🙂🖐👍🏴☠️🇨🇭🇺🇲 Ringposts,tables,chairs better than lights,music,,microphones,special effects on today's shows!!!
Two huge MEN battling it out!
RIP Blackjack Mulligan
RIP Big John Studd
Two giants battling it out .
Loved Steve Austin’s take on how over Blackjack was this night:
“You’da thought The Rock n Roll just hit the ring!!”
Mulligan was almost as tall as Studd...The crowd was insane.
i think mulligan was an inch shorter than studd
Best wrestling crowd ever !!!
@@MAINEVENT99Mulligan was known to wear footgear...i.e. "lifts" in his boots..
Very scientific match.
When I was a kid, this is exactly what the matches were like in the Pac Northwest. I loved wrastling matches like this, you felt like you was an intrical part of them.my ole man always liked ring side.
Cool match, I'm guessing early 80's since Studd was in WWWF in the late 70's
Goliath vs Goliath . They were huge and towering in their size . Two alpha males competing for dominance
Any adbrupt meeting with a ring post would render me unconscious and knocked cold.
After a match like that what an awful finisher. Oh well, RIP BJM and Studd. They don't make 'em like this anymore.
+Parkwaymania you said it brother... guys like BJM and Studd is what's missing from today's crappy wrestling.
Those were the days!
GrandDaddy of Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas... like bred into those boys to be wrestlers!
What an incredible event
One of the late great cowboy trooper named Blackjack mulligan. His style was totally wrasslin' about the Texas style fighter.
May rest in peace, blackjack mulligan.
🌵🐍
Rest in peace too, big John studd.
Return to your seats!
Sparring partner, gotta love it!
Blackjack Mulligan was also a babyface in CWF as well. He, Barry, and later Kendall were akin to the first family down there for awhile, apart from the Grahams, and like the Von Erichs in Texas as well as the Armstrongs in Alabama.
The woman on the top right was into it like no other!
that fucken nut must be a soccer mom lol
And she was a mulligan fan
Bobby Heenan had his family in the AWA and Jimmy Hart had his own "First Family of Wrestling" in Memphis. The Poffos also had their promotion in Kentucky and wrestled as the family that they were in real life.
Return to your seats.
Who came in to make the save? Was it tony Atas and Bob Backlund and someone else???
Studd was a great example of a monster heel...he lost the match...but still came out strong at the end
Studd was always my fav....esp when he and King Kong Bundy were a tag team. I saw a video on here where he and Ernie Ladd were teammates......that team would be unbeatable even today.
Depends who was scripting the finishes, mark.
Return to your seats , crowd control issues
Love watching to big huge men brawl it out . When John applied his bear hug on the bigger man it was great. He weakened the large man with each squeeze weakening him more. Great watching Black Jack squeezed to submission as a poor weakling .
you realize its fake right? and you realize Mulligan won the match right?
@@RedroomStudios let the guy kayfabe it out.
@@citizenbeeswax7985lol… but he calls mulligans the “bigger man”. In any case if you look at his subscriptions and favorites he’s not. Real wrestling fan, he’s part of the gay muscle groupies crowd. Bodybuilders and show girls is what’s he into. 😂
Lol really? I was wondering why he made it sound a little too sexual
@@citizenbeeswax7985 yep… oh he loved that bear hug. I was making an educated guess but I just looked at his subscriptions again… “sexy hairy guys” …”beef builder” …lol. Yep… I was right.
R.I.P. Blackjack and John Studd.
RIP Bro!
mulligan was over big time the women went nuts for him, I seen him in buffalo against studd and they didn't dissapoint, what a match they had bloody as usual
The pop 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Endless calls to 'return to your seats' didn't accomplish much
Nobody in that crowd complained that they didnt get their money's worth. Wow.
Black Jack Mulligan was on the Studd List
back in the blood era.
Black jack and his monstrous claw
Wow, I never knew BJM was a face! He was always a heel in WWWF with Captain Lou!
Wow, really?
He was a face around 1985 when he was in the then WWF.
...wow...the referee is just as tall as these guys!
What year was this?
Its so weird to see Studd look like a big guy but not make the other guy look small if you didnt know you might think like 6/5 vs 6/7 but know what is it 6/10 vs 6/9 crazy true giants
Just imagine if one of them jumped on you from the top rope.
Please tell me somebody else noticed how skinny john studd ankles and shins are
I noticed
What a stiff looking match. Mulligan is legendary for his stiff work, looks like Studd was his equal.
Studd looked like he had pencil thin legs.
I never realized how tall Blackjack was
blackjack 6-8
He wasn't even close to being 6'8. He was 6'5. Wrestling heights are fake.
Studd wasn't 6'8. Wrestling heights are always fake.
www.celebheights.com/s/Big-John-Studd-49526.html
This was about like watching the 3 stooges
Wow, what a wild audience! Super!
What happened to the people nowadays?
nothing to do with the audience... the quality of the shows is not the same now. wrestling is way to much hype, production and goofy characters now.
These days we already know what's going to happen before the show starts.
Kayfabe is dead. The magic is gone. smdh
I thought for a minute this was a Rock & Roll Express match by hearing the crowd. Sounded like Blackjack was as over as Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson.
@@wkmac2 Blackjack was always a big draw and favorite in Mid Atlantic wrestling, Had good matches with everyone especially Ric Flair
Big boys.
Does any remember the big black x that used to cover the tv when blackjack used the Claw?
70s wor wrestling late night Ibelieve
Big John's legs are incredibly thin compared to his body.
Hahahaha
Yea like toothpicks holding a hot dog lol
Studd was awesome. But his robes looked just like one he might put on after showering at home any day of the week
Black black vs mulligan vs big jhon studd🤜💪🤼♂️🇺🇸
Today's wrestling is awful at best. This was a great match. Even the names of the wrestlers were better back in the hay day.
When wrestling was real
Back then when wrestling was great compared to today.
Great bearhug
Big John stud loves skipping leg day
In the USA they do everything big lol 😂
Dont hear crowds like that no maas.
dont you think that this is hug is a little "suggestive"? Not that it can work that way. But still a little suggestive in their motions.
I certainly like these videos without the goofy annoying commentators saying stupid things, rinse and repeat.
Big John studd clearly skips leg day
日本で見たかった。
Big John skipped leg day🦵
Too rather slow but very large and powerful men.
The referees are hilarious. Swinging their arms around, pointing. WTF?
I wonder if the people in the audience back then, knew it was scripted?
wow talk about no respect no steps to slam there heads againts
Back when real men were wrestler's not the Male Cheerleaders we got today
THIS IS THE EXAMPLE OF A BUILDING THAT DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY HANDLE SECURITY. ONCE YOU LET THE RINGSIDE CROWD GET OUT OF CONTROL YOU CANT CONTROL IT AT THAT POINT. THIS IS DANGEROUS FOR THE WRESTLERS ,STAFF AND CROWD ITSELF.
Sullivan coming to the aid of Mulligan,
New wrestling...zzzz. Old wrestling...yeehaa!
I'd have paid to see someone clothesline that annoying monotone voice announcer.
the stuff today is crap
I love the characters but this is so garbage 🤦♂️😂
