The Big Cat was one of the best talkers and wrestlers EVER. I could listen to Ladd's interviews all day

When it comes to promos, Flair, Piper, Rock, etc are given tons of credit for being among the best ever, but to me no one was as entertaining on the mic as Ernie Ladd.

It's not often that Ric Flair isn't the best promo guy on camera. But Ernie Ladd could be incredible when he got going. His promos on Chief Jay Strongbow were god-tier.

In 1979, a new pro wrestling publication hit newsstands and magazine racks across the nation. It was Pro Wrestling Illustrated. When the first issue went to press, Ken Patera & John Studd were ranked at #4 in the Tag Team Division. Patera was also ranked at #4 in both the National Wrestling Alliance and the Most Hated Wrestlers category. Ric Flair was ranked at #3 in the NWA and at #1 in the Most Hated Wrestlers category.

You *know* WCW going under had to be the worst thing that could have ever happened to Vince McMahon, cause then everyone would see all these guys that were around for the first couple Wrestlemanias were in Mid-Atlantic, Florida, Georgia, World Class, AWA, UWF, Memphis, Portland, Calgary, and whoever else I'm forgetting before they "began their careers" in the WWF.
In a twist I'd have sold it to Bischoff (who'd have been more at home because all he knew to do was use old WWF guys), but he'd have been dead broke in two years anyway with no Turner to bail him out.

notice ghow they have Ernie Ladd the farthest back distance-wise from the camera. then the announcer, then Studd, then Flair....they do this so that Studd appears to be as tall as Ernie( 6'9"), even though he is actually two inches shorter(6'7" legitimately), and flair is way up front, so he appears to be over 6', even though flair is 5'11"

Ladd was definitely a legit 6'9. Studd was 6'7 at best

Yeah Studd was known to wear lifts in his boots especially if he was gonna be working with another big guy. The guy even took hgh to get bigger and some say he did get a bit taller from it. He was obsessed with being tall because he said that’s where the money was

@Matt Luongo according to pro-football reference, ernie ladd was listed at 6' 9, 290 lbs in the kansas city chiefs program guide in 1968. and he was definitely taller than teammate buck buchanan who was 6' 7....

@Matt Luongo it really doesn't matter what height you want to give him. pro football, unlike wrestling, doesn't inflate one's height. the man was 6' 9....

How come Ken Patera and Big John Studd (Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions) never held the NWA World Tag Team Titles?

Think because around that time the only title that held the actual official distinction of "World" was the NWA World Title. The titles that were 'world' in the tag scene were just regional titles at the time.
