I had the privilege of working with Black Jack. My first match I thought it would be a train wreck. To my surprise, Black Jack was very light with me but believable. We worked about 3 matches together and then he went to WCW as an agent. Kindall was fast as lightning and very intelligent. I knew Barry from WCW. All three Windhams were cool and Barry was the best worker.
Windham is the reason I knew wrestling was a %100 work. I was 11 and a friend and myself were waiting in front of Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto for the wrestlers to come out. I see Iron Sheik and Volkoff standing inside about 20 feet from the doors.About 8 feet to their left is the corner of a wall. All of a sudden I see Windham take a quick peek around the corner to see how many fans were waiting outside.I remember asking my friend “Hey,how come they’re not fighting each other?”. Good memory!
I heard Mulligan was as tough as Harley Race, Rick Rude and others. RIP to the father of Barry and Kendall Windham. RIP to the grandfather of the Fiend.
Rick Rude, tough, but not in the same class as the Harley Race, Dick Slater, Paul Orndorf, Barbarian, or Mings of the world. Tough SOB who was always willing to throw down for sure. Not an insult not to be one of the toughest ever In a tough sport. I'm just a fan too, but that's my take. ✌️
I use to go to the Eddie Graham Sportatorium every week and sit front row. All the greats came through there. Blackjack was one impressive man. Wrestling at a time where kayfabe ruled and the suspension of disbelief was real.
We were often there as guests of my HS friend's sister, Lisa Z who was a production tech for Channel 44. We got to meet the wrestlers and Gordon Solie who was a very nice and professional man to us high school kids. Most of the wrestlers were nice to us, even the heels.
I remember after an afternoon card at Maple Leaf Gardens my dad and I were driving back home west bound on the QEW. I looked at the beige 4 door car driving beside us and it was some hot blonde woman driving with Mulligan Sr in the front passenger seat . Windham and Rotunda were in the back. I couldn't believe my eyes. They took the Dixie Rd exit in Mississauga. Sr was a massive man
I meet Mr. Barry windham at the Richmond Colosseum around the years of 88 or 89 … so that would have me around 12 or 13 years old .. actually meet him back stage .. but Barry had huge hands as well .. great childhood memories…
I recall Mulligan having huge hands. It's probably one instance where Barry and Kendall wished he doled out the discipline with a belt instead of his hand.
@@zombiefulci3301 Ya but to be fair, not too many people could stand and look Andre in the eye, especially in the early days of his career. Blackjack also learned the hard way that his sucker punch wasn't going to effect the big guy either. That story is here somewhere, I forgot who told it.
I remember being 4 yrs old sitting on my father’s shoulders and still having to reach up to pat Black Jack and Dick Murdock on their shoulders . In my mind they were giants!! In a way I think I was right!
The fight with Ole Anderson happened at the very end of Ole's time in WCW. Eric Bishoff had given Blackjack Mulligan a job when he got out of prison and Mulligan was extremely loyal to Eric as a result. Eric Bischoff demoted Ole from the WCW office and sent him to work at the WCW Power Plant. When he got there, Ole was verbally complaining about Bischoff to anyone within hearing range. Mulligan got mad about it and punched him. Neither guy was exactly young at the time.
I once snuck off in my dads truck when I was 16. Picked up my girlfriend at the time and drove out in our hayfield and ended up getting stuck on the only stump in the 150 acre field. Walked home and snuck out a tractor to pull out the truck and ran out of gas in the middle of the road. Walked back to get a gas can and my dad was waiting in the garage for me and gave me the exact same medicine as Barry's dad gave him. I never did that again either. 🤣
