Rick Rude was so great at being a heel and was before his time. Legit tough and a legit legend
How was he before his time…?
@@marcbasil His gimmick was revolutionary for its time.
@@scottbreon9448 how so…? It was a slightly updated Billy Graham gimmick
@@marcbasil I'm thinking a little closer to Rick Flair. Talking about the ladies and telling the fat dudes to sit their ass down, because Rick Rude was in town.
@@Gamevet okay, so, Rogers? Gorgeous George? He was a stereotypical j0ck heel. What separated him was the fact that he was on ungodly amounts of growth & gear
When an absolute unit like Scott Norton is calling someone tough you better believe it.
Norton,as all of the Minnesota guys,was a beast 💪😯
Ravishing Rick Rude was the greatest WCW United States and International Heavyweight Champion a legit bad ass blessed to see all from 1980-Now
I wish someone would put together a definitive playlist/compilation of all Rick's matches, promos etc. from his WCW run... I never got to see it at the time.... Same as Jake's run from around that same period.
It sucks so bad that he got hurt on that stupidly dangerous ring area out in Japan.
I have heard so many great Rick Rude stories over the years. In Bret Hart’s book he called Rick Rude The most loyal person he ever met in the wrestling business. Sounds like Rude was a solid guy
He was a Iunatic psych0tic buIIy nutcake
remember rude left wwf right after the montreal incident and was on nitro the very next night defending bret hart, he was also on wwf raw at the same time that night since raw was pretaped that week, that makes rude the only wrestler who was on both nitro and raw at the same time on the same night lol
On Brets DVD there was a bonus section where he spoke about a lot of the guys who have passed away, and he gets choked up about Rude, and says (paraphrasing) "I will never forget what he did for me" Rude was super stand up.
Some guys have also said Rude was a total douche too.
Steve Austin has really fun stories about Rick, that they even went on hunting/fishing trips together and Rick couldnt hunt nor fish if his life depended on it. Steve Austin, being an avid hunter, ignored them because he was a fun guy to be around at camp.
The fact that all these legends came from the same small area in BFE Minnesota is mind boggling.
Must be something with genetics and Vikings settling in that area, lets of big bad dudes
ITZ NOT A SMALL AREA!!!
They all watched AWA Verne Gagne's wrestling which everyone of them will tell you motivated them.
@@THEREALLORDJ Relatively speaking it's a very small area for that many well known wrestlers to originate from. Lots of them even went to the same school. I'd call that a small area.
@@daerth4423 EVERY BIG CITY HAS TONS OF PEOPLE ON EACH SPORT, MUSIC,POLITICS, ETC; SO I'D SAY ITS YOUR THINKING THATZ SMALL IF ANYTHING!!!
Scott Norton was terrifying in wcw.
The way Kurt Henning and Rick moved was a thing of beauty. They were both beauts the sarcasm and the way they could talk on the Mike was unmatched.
*Curt *Hennig
@@scottbreon9448. Kert* Henning*
@@scottbreon9448Lol, good man Scott. I was about to make the same correction myself.
Curt was cool in person too met him in 1995
@@scottbreon9448auto correct always puts henning for me when i put hennig
Scott is looking well 👌
This was awesome. Can't wait to see the entire interview with Scott "Flash" Norton. #powerhouse
One of most underrated wrestlers; he was huge in Japan, won IWGP heavyweight championship twice. He and buff were two of my favorite wrestlers and tag team.
This really is just awesome. Thanks for doing this. It’s clear that Norton is just a genuine, solid dude.
rip rick. thanks for getting scott! looking forward to wcw questions.
Thank you for this interview. Scott Norton always seemed like a legit badass powerful and respected dude. Never heard anything bad about him but never heard much other than what we saw on tv so this is great hearing what is now an old timer in the business
Im looking forward to this shoot interview! I just hope my question got asked.
One of the scariest looking wrestlers in WCW. Just looked like he loved beating people up. Always a favorite of mine
I think the saddest part is Scott Norton truly loved Rick personally more than all that tough guy stuff sounds like he really loves him like a brother and that sucks he's gone. You can tell how much he loves rick as a person and that touched me emotionally. You don't hear that to often . Mostly tough guy stories but Scott seems more sincere on a heart to heart relationship with Rick very sad I feel bad for Scott you can tell he truly loved him as a person
Thanks for asking my question!!
Nice one. 1st upload of the interview.
Good question.
That was a hell of question nice work brother.
Yeah mine was asked as well I guess who forgot to go back to it but I enjoyed hearing the Rick rude stories
@@brendonm2316 yours was split into a different clip - Hawk is brought up a lot
@@fingersTitan🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤣🤣
Big Scott is an awesome guy. I’ve known him for years him and his wife Tammy are both awesome people 🙌🏽💯💯💯
hated his wrestling character...but you can see here....that wasn't who he was. Some people lived their gimmick like Scott Hall it seems.
@@terryosinga2155…. 😳😳😳
Hey TyCutta did Norten win the Super Heavyweight tournament at Over the Top
I thought I had heard that
Did Norten win the Super Heavyweight tournament at Over the Top
@@terryosinga2155 …??
The amount of Wrestling talent that has come from the Minneapolis area is insane. That class Scott is talking about had Rick Rude, Mr Perfect, Road Warrior Hawk, Demolition Smash, Tom Zenk, John Nord (the Berserker) and Nikita Koloff. Scott would come a couple years later.
Before that Ric Flair, Larry the Axe, Ole Anderson, Jesse Ventura, and Vern Gagne.
Later you would also have X-Pac, Molly Holly Brock Lesnar, Jerry Lynn, Chad Gable, and Erik Rowan.
Even in the auxiliary roles, Jeremy Borash, Mean Gene and Paul Ellering all from the Minneapolis area.
And our newest recruit, Julia Hart from about an hour north of Minneapolis.
👏🏾
Ain't Shelton Benjamin from MN too?
@@aceloco817 he went to the university of Minnesota but he was born and raised in south Carolina.
Lesnar is technically from South Dakota. He went to college in Minnesota. Also you forget Brad Rheinghans
@@scottbreon9448 yeah, but the town he grew up in is very close to the Minnesota border and Minneapolis is easily the closest big city.
I remember Ric Rude beat up Ultimate Warrior after a botched body slam 😅😅😅
Warrior was never a "tough" guy. Just blustery. But he was sloppy and stiff in the ring. And never in control
Scott and Saturn are both going to be great. I hope we can get Malenko soon too.
There will never be another crew like the 80s Minnesota guys.
Thank you James and Scott! I can never hear enough Rude stories
Rick was so good to the fans.
I wish I could’ve had the pleasure of meeting him
HAHAHA🤣🤣 great sarcasm
@@Lemont5236he was joking, genius
@@Lemont5236Ditto,My Favorite As A Kid,Along With The Nature Boy!!! They Were Also Gold On The Mic,Cut The Music,Lol!!!!😂😂😂 Great Childhood In The 80's,and 90's!!!!
This is great, thanks for getting Norton
Great interview! Norton was a beast and I enjoyed hearing the stories with Rick Rude.
What great stories….put smile on my face!!!
Man, you can really tell at the end how much Scott misses his buddy. RIP Rick. And I hope you find comfort after all the great names that have passed away too early, Mr. Norris
Is there any video footage from the morning show? would love to see it.
Love Norton and Rude - great to hear these stories
Great interview! Scott shows a lot of class at about 7:25!It was greatly appreciated! Thanks and take care of yourself!
Gotta love Scott. Straight to the point, no B.S., but still respectfull.
Guy was an absolute beast back in the day. Thick as a Cat dozer and just as powerfull.
I never realized how much of a freak athlete Rude was; I thought he was just a body guy, but his feats seem endles.
Can't wait for the full shoot interview! James is smart on how he leaks crumbs to the masses.
Scott Norton rules, always a good listen. Dude looks fantastic. 👏
You can tell that he misses his friend. Great stories. ❤️
Thanks!
Nice to hear a wrestler speak without constantly swearing
That impressed me about Norton and totally changed my view of him....when he regretted that slip of the tongue quoting Rick.
@@terryosinga2155😳
Dutch doesn't. Also George South doesn't either
Kevin Nash is the worst for swearing. Every other word is the F word. I cannot take it and can’t listen to him for more than a minute.
A lot don't. Ted DiBiase, Demolition, Bret Hart, Undertaker, HHH..
I could listen to hours of his time with Rick. So interesting.
What on earth did they put in the water at that high school?
Lunch lady making tren burgers
Anavar
Scott is such a down to earth, really cool guy. Love his stories 😊
Scott Norton is a great interview
norton true nice guy good interview.. god bless you and your family
Yay! More Flash Norton.
Norton seems like a nice guy, i was scared of him in wcw. He looked like a tough l guy you wouldn't want to mess with
Oooooohh good catch! I could've taken Rude n Norton, but not many others could've
Great insight and great words. Rick was my fave
"One hell of buddy." That says it all right there
I wish someone would come out with a really detailed and high quality documentary on Rick Rude... could listen to these stories for hours.
The warlord beat Rick rude in arm wrestling
I hope so War had Rick by 100ibs
Another top tier MN guy. Who'd of thunk it.
@@PulverizerAanother massive gear head
I also heard Rick Rude beat Hawk in arm wrestling.💪🏾
That dude outweighs rude by like 150 lbs
Rick Rude was a machine!
Great story
It's good to hear stories about Rick Rude. He was definitely one of the best wrestlers ever. I hated when he broke his back
Even as a kid Rick Rude set off my 'dont f*ck with that dude' alarm off. 😅
Sounds like one heck of an athlete all around - left us far too soon.
Scott Norton one of my top 5 favs!
Is there Video of this Arm Wrestling match they did??? He said it was on TV.
Saw Rick Rude in the gym in Michigan in 92. Just a huge upside down pyramid. Didn’t watch him lift so I couldn’t tell you how strong he was.
1 small mistake, the title should say Scott Flash Norton. Other than that great video.
What a good answer
Met Mr. Norton once in Austin at a Wrestle Circus show. Super nice, humble guy. I'm a big dude...but shaking his hand was like putting my hand in a vise.
Seems like a good and down to earth guy,Scott Norton.
If Scott Norton says your a badass that's really saying something. Norton is a guy you would be foolish to try. And if he says somebody is a badass that really carries some serious weight.
Man...all these guys had me a bit fooled....I absolutely hated Norton's character on Television...but he seems like a straight talking cool guy on these podcasts.
That’s because you’re a mark 🎯
As far as I'm concerned, Norton was the true badass. Period.
Hell yeah last period gym! Lucky enough to have that all of Highschool.
Very Good stories... Never really saw any Norton interviews but could see he definitely misses Rude.
Ask about the Cat Ernest Miller story 😂
😂 my thoughts exactly
Bet we get a different take on it from Scott
Why would someone kick a FG barefooted? 65 or 70 yards? Come on Scott!
Right... alot of badasses from Minnesota area..they grow them proper there...must be something in the water air and ground
The Babylon 5 fan that the ask the question... I see you fam
Saw Rick in Chattanooga Tennessee one night wrestling with Manny Fernandez against the Rock n Roll Express. It was just before he skipped town and headed up to WWE. Huge guy and one dude in the audience was cussing at him and talking shit while Rick was coming to the ring and apparently the dude said something that other fans didn’t say to Rick and he was getting hot under the collar and the bull had to come and get him and take him on to the ring.
Kicking touchback’s f’n barefooted !
I would've loved to see Scott Norton get a WWE run under Bobby Heenan.
this was a rough watch 😅
Yesssssss
Funny story about the morning show arm wrestling w/ Rick. Some great athletes, Darsow,Perfect,Scott,Rick & isnt Flair & Gagne himself from there? Im from Tampa,we have a few here, i was 6 yrs behind Mr Wonderfull the Brandon Bull.I lifted weights w/ him summer of 73.
Scott Norton was a strong dude one of strongest in the NWO.. Rick Rude he was Great! 100% Wrestling Legend! I really liked how he came down to the ring when he was a Heel.. Because lets face it. Heel Rude was better then Face Rude. But he would go through the whole speal. Something to the effect of - "All You Motor City Sweat Hogs To Shut Your Mouths!" Awhile i Undo My Robe And Show All You Ladies What A Real Man Looks Like..
RIP Rick Rude.
Rick Rude was so strong that no one could move him from the wrestling stance.
I mean I don't know how schools work over in the US but with Rick being 3 years older they would surely be in different classes etc?
I don't know about the other stuff but there's about 2 years between Matt and Ben.
Its not out of the question. Robbinsdale school district (which is where scott is talking about) is made up of a bunch of small suburbs and pieces of large suburbs north of Minneapolis. At the time smaller, suburban districts generally went elementary as kindergarten through 8th grade and then a seperate high school. Meanwhile depending on the school curriculum at the time they could have easily split the boys and girls up for P.E. class having grades 5-8 attend together.
They also often put schools next to each other to cut busing costs as everyone from K-12 could be brought to the same place.
Thats not to say Scott isnt lying and i do find it difficult to believe a 7th grader is gonna suddenly feel better about not getting beat up because he has a 9 year old getting his back, but when that 9 yrar old is Scott and the other guy is Rick and its the insanity if the Minneapolis area, one never knows.
@@billhicks808okay so that makes sense now that you put it like that.
@@fingersTitanmatt damen and ben afflick…? 😳😳😳wtf…

I liked having P.E very last. It only happened like one semester but it was cool.
Happy early bday to Curt Hennig! Thee greatest wrestler to ever live! Curt Hennig forever!
Scott is a real badass,Rick Rood was my favorite and Ken patera, and the spoiler.3 super Badass s
Scott Flapjack Norton was one of MN's finest. But lets face it - pretty much all the MN guys were top notch. Verne Gagne and his associates turned out hundreds of top tier wrestlers. Vince got them all in the long run, but couldn't reproduce what the other territories did in their ability to train new talent. God bless em all.
All time pro wrestling real fight king of the ring (so 8 competitors)
Only rules are no weapons and no leaving the ring. Otherwise knock out or submission wins the fight.
Brock
Angle
Meng
Barbarian
Rude
Blackman
Shamrock
Severn
Who comes out in the end? I'd say Brock or Meng.
The years he spent putting that stuff in his body did him no favors & that helped contribute to his untimely death. Genetics & everything else. Not saying he did anything wrong or was it bad guy but you have to pay a price for a physique like that. That's why most people are not in that category they are too lazy & eat wrong but doing that contributed to his death
The greatest armwrestler of all time is called John Brzenk. Scott Norton armwrestled him several times and never lost to him.
Rick Rude was money in WWF as a heel and he was great in Wcw. I wish Rick Rude would of had a run as a heel with Sherri Martel as his manager.
Rick Rude vs Brian Blair for the Southern Heavyweight Championship in 1985 was the match that got me into wrestling.
Norton looks pretty good
Rude is a Legend. Loved watching him.
Flash is a legend man
Rick also had a great mind for the business, he was responsible for degeneration x . With Michael's triple h and China. The only reason they are not the best is because Hunter couldn't be faithful to China .
Rude’s abs looked like chiseled stone.
Rick must have been left back a few times, he was 3 years older than Scott
Rude was like 3 years older than Norton so how can he and Norton have been the same year in high school 🤔
That’s a good question
Scott looks way better than he has any right to. He didn't necessarily look all that healthy in late 90's WCW and he looks more healthy today.
How did he not look healthy…?
