Reported.ly's Malachy Browne was in Paris for May Day 2015 and went along to the National Front's demonstration. The defiant language of opposition permeated the rhetoric of leader Marine Le Pen. The rise of the far-right party saw it win 25 percent of the first round vote in recent local elections - a remarkable growth based on anti-austerity, anti-immigration populism. On current approval ratings, Le Pen is predicted to reach the second round of the 2017 Presidential election.
