I have the same loader on my 400 with four ag tires. I need more rear weights. I had a full bucket of mulch and went up a fairly steep hill, but when I tried a full bucket of mushroom soil, I kept getting stuck and rolling backwards.....Ag tires completely lost traction on the hill.
According to Peerless who makes the transmission, you can add up to 600lbs in a weight box or 400lbs wheel weights(impossible), which should be more than enough to keep traction.
The best way to fill the transmission is to pull the four bolts holding the whole seat shroud, then pull the two bolts to hold the gas tank turn the gas tank sideways and you can get right to the fill port.
Whats the lift capacity? What other attachments are available for this tractor? I own a hotel on 34 acres and have this there but didnt realize it could have attachments, kinda exciting to learn!
You should have seen my other 400. It had about 180lbs per wheel.. It came like that I took them off as they stuck out so far it was a pain to drive. haha Thanks for watching.
Cause I am about to get into the landscaping business. And looking at a 400 with deck. Guy is a estate clear out guy. Has the loader and backhoe for it. Was wondering if these could be adapted to be quick hitch to take on and off as needed.
If you can get a good price it is a very rugged small tractor for homeowner use, however I'd go for something newer and more reliable for landscaping business. A BX or JD1025R would be much better starter machines with diesel and 4x4. Good Luck in your venture!
Do you know what kind of hyd pump is on the front of your 400? Any way you can send a picture of the coupling used between the pump and the pto gear? Thanks
Sorry I sold it two years ago so cant get you a picture. If I remember it was belt driven off the front PTO. Im sure there is a facebook group for 400's that would have that information.
@@ericmick6679 If you are looking to buy one I will likely be selling it in a few months once Im done moving dirt around my property. I'm in BC. Where are you?

Good luck finding one!
Looking for either a John Deere 855 or 400. Older . Wanting with bucket or blade for snow.
Nice rig. DONT over do it on wheel weights, you can EASILY snap those axles. Trust me. One set is plenty.

Does anybody know where I can find a three-point hookup for my John Deere 314

Nice hat! ;)
Wheel weights make the tractor go down the yard smoother, not so bouncy.

Are those capable of being converted to quick hitch loaders?
The Johnson that was on it was not quick attach or easy to remove. It was bolted to the rear and front of the frame.
👍🚜
Is the last numbers in the serial # the year model.?
Correction: Johnson 26 loader
Nice loader
Swap it over!
