bro, i have been using notion for almost 2 years now and one thing i envied about trello is that ability to open a card and inside it a board with sub tasks related to the task, i tried to do this in notion when i was starting to use it but honestly it was disastrous and created like 454 databases jasjdja and since then i basically now manage in a different way to plot goals and sub-goals, but this bro, this is the video i always needed, i still can't believe it's possible to do this in notion. . just that I was looking for how to use notion to develop videogames since I'm starting in this world, thank you very much!
At first I thought there is no way I'm switching from Trello to Notion, then my brain almost exploded when you demonstrated nesting boards inside of boards. That is brilliant! Switching now 😅😅
This is Exactly what I needed. Notion is packed with features but I only need a Kanban board for displaying jobs and progress. Wondering, is there a way to sum a "numbers" property? I'm adding a dollar value to each task and would love to see a total somewhere.....like a total job value per month. Thoughts?
@@hackticdev the more i look into it, the more im convinced its not possible. this is amazing tho, very impressed! the only improvement i can think of is some kind lock that prevents a user from moving a card to the right, unless all the other children are in a state where they are allowed to be moved there aswell. so that u dont accidently move a child todo/inprogress into complete because u forgot to look at each of their statuses. no idea if this is possible tho, i cant find any info on locking cards. maybe u know? and ofc some kind of git syncronization would be awesome aswell, but i might be dreaming here
How would I go about making a kanban with an existing database? I tried making a new view and choosing Board but it doesn't have the 3 columns like yours and I can't move the boxes around. Basically I have a database for the 12 Week Year method and I have a Weeks database. In that database is a Progress bar that allows me to see how I did each week. I already have a Current Week view and a View All view....the database already has entries in it so I don't want to start a new database...UNLESS I can do some sort of relation to the existing database within the new one? Thanks for your help!
Notion has included a sprints feature since I made this video although I'm not too familiar with it. Regardless I prefer not to use sprints with Kanban as it's not a part of the methodology - ideally Kanban should be used with a pull based approach which is incompatible with the idea of commiting to Agile style sprints

Super helpful, thank you
best vid on how to do it in notion, thanks!
fantastic tutorial 🍒
this channel is amazing, definitely worth more subscribers.
The only thing I can’t figure out is how to add an extra column like the “up next” column 😅 5:09 please….. I need help….
watching in 0.25 speed and video is still speeding at like 4x going through menus
More good stuff. Definitely gonna give notion a try.
Awesome video. I was just wondering how to do this
Very helpful video
Thank you so much

Yes, if you click the number next to the column name, you can change it to display different values, including a sum of a particular property
@@hackticdev Thank you for the reply. I did find it and I have it showing the total value in each column. Very handy.
how do you not have the horizontal bar and stupid ai icon at the bottom?
Really cool video, well done! Any chance you could do that same board in Taskade?
Thank you! I have heard good things about Taskade but I haven't used it personally so I can't answer that sadly

thank you so much. Been looking for something better than trello for a while now
I'm so glad to have helped!

Your database will need to have some kind of 'state' property, the on the board view group it by that property
@@hackticdev thanks…what is a state property? Sorry I’m still learning Notion.
I'm interested how to add sprints into this implementation

Ive have tried to Add a new column in a Kanban board view but can't for the life of me....help...lol
You need to add a new status to your group property in the properties menu, and then make it visible in the group menu
@@hackticdev After lots of swearing and some new grey hairs, I figured it out lol. Thanks again.
this is knowledge
Hate to break it to you, but if it's not a pull system, then it's not Kanban.
