    You'll be fine using your oven, John Taka. Your oven registers Celsius temperatures, while the temperatures stated in the video are Fahrenheit. To make this recipe, the oven temperature is 190 degrees C (375 degrees F). Here's a link to the original recipe so you may review the directions and oven temperature: allrecipes.com/recipe/american-lasagna/detail.aspx

    the Italians say "you want your pasta water salted to taste like the ocean" ..... you must salt the water quite a bit, if you don't, the pasta will not have flavor. it's like anything else, salt brings out the flavor in EVERYTHING. Don't be afraid to salt your food while cooking. some people wait until the food is on their plate to salt - then it just tastes salty, any chef will tell you that.

    Great question! The sugar is mainly used to balance the acidity in the tomato sauce. You can certainly leave it out or reduce the amount, if you wish. Enjoy!

  • @allrecipes
    @allrecipes  11 лет назад +5

    Thank you for your question, Maria. There's no need to add extra oil because the beef is likely to have enough fat in it. If you are worried about the beef sticking, you can add a few teaspoons of vegetable oil to the pan first. happy cooking!

  • @allrecipes
    @allrecipes  10 лет назад +9

    Thank you for your question, Anish. Tomato puree isn't quite as thick as tomato paste, so the sauce could be a bit runny. Otherwise, it should work fine as a substitute. Enjoy!

    Hi laura, you definitely could substitute the diced tomatoes in this recipe for a vegetable puree or your favorite diced vegetables with some liquid, such as stock or wine. Perhaps you might like using only half of the diced tomatoes and adding grated onion and zucchini to make up the difference? Hope this helps, enjoy :)

    Lmao all the people making the handful of salt comments. It’s a LARGE pot with a good amount of water in it. Put less in if ya want bland noodles.
