Keith Richards digs the custom Tele too. Think this will be my next Telecaster. Guitars with nitro finish not only look good, they age so much better giving off a classic vintage look and feel. Fender should offer nitro for their Pro series after all, Fender used a nitro Finish on those guitars before CBS took over so how 'bout it Fender, bring back the nitro instead of that bowling ball finish currently being used that never seems to age.
Update: I purchased one just like you have in the video (same color), and have had it for a while now. How long, I’m not sure; whenever this video first came out. Anyway, I love it! It is my primary guitar now, and I have a few sitting around. I love this guitar. I’ve found myself gravitating towards middle selector for both pickups and am completely happy. Thank you for such an amazing demo.
I got two guitars from the American original series, the 60’ telecaster and the jazzmaster... they became my two main instruments instantly! Just needed to mod the jazzmaster bridge but other than that perfect sound, weight and most importantly feel!
I owned the original 70s tele custom alder wood w/ 4 knobs and maple neck, Cunife humbucker, and slant single coil at the bridge. I sold it to a friend 40 years ago, and lamented over it ever since. Never could find another. No other tele is the same.
I absolutely L-O-V-E your tune (that starts at 0'48"). Been listening to it on repeat for the past few days! I wish you could post a guitar lesson on this one (or at least another video with a better angle on the neck so it's easier to understand what you're playing). Love your channel, thanks for sharing your vids! Cheers!
This sounds great! I think it’s really cool that they went with nitro as I’m pretty sure fender had switched to poly already on the originals in the 70s. How’s the volume balance between the neck and bridge pickup?
Need to get my hands on one of these. I currently have an American Vintage Series ‘58 tele from about 10 years ago. I think I’d rather have the one your playing.
tough to say. i’ve played some vintage models that were amazing and others that were garbage. i think this is a solid build, but make no mistake, it’s a new guitar. some of what makes those older amazing customs so appealing is that they’ve been played - a lot. but considering the price difference between this and a vintage model, i’d be totally satisfied with this one.
@ Demos... The Cunife material was orginally used in magnetic speedometers. The foundry closed when the speedometer was redesigned in the 70s. Fender recently worked out a deal for a new foundry to make the same machinable alloy material just for the pickups as they were re-engineered to capture more range. It's similar to the story on germanium solid-state transisters used in some vintage overdrive pedals from the same era. They went out -- not because of something better -- but because they were a casualty of technology in a large market of applications where music-sound-products are a very small part of it.. The same can be said for vacuum tubes.
I recently had the new CuNiFe’s installed on my 2010 Fender FSR Tele Deluxe (which happens to look a lot like this Custom - same Tele headstock, same color). It made a world of difference, as those ‘fake’ WRHBs were not very special at all.
My wife bought me a 72 tele custom re-issue in sunburst for Christmas 2 years ago. Mine is Mexican though. It looks identical to that guitar in every way other than color. Im still trying to figure out if the pick ups and hardware are made in the same facility in California? Seems it would be since the cunife had to be special made for this application. Any thoughts? Btw it has changed my world, I freakin love this guitar, my favorite i own by far...
great sounding! great sounding guitar & pickups! neck pickup = big yes!
DAVID! still blows my mind when i see you here. i'm such a fan. and the guitar... yeah. i love it. sorry to gush on ya.
@@DemosInTheDark - lol! all good. fender is increasingly KICKING ASS these days! imo.
troof!

Awesome Demo🎸Good to see the CuNiFe Wide Range Humbucker is available again👍🏾😎🤳

My 75 has poly coating.

i bet!
These tones are sick! Love the playing samples on this one.
Great sounds and review. I really appreciate all of your efforts creating this. Good job.
thanks, man! much appreciated!

oh thanks so much! i really appreciate it!!

i just love nitro. volume is pretty constant between the two pups!
Yes, they did have poly.
Need to get my hands on one of these. I currently have an American Vintage Series ‘58 tele from about 10 years ago. I think I’d rather have the one your playing.
This sounds just great! How do you think this new build would compare to a good original from the 70s?

I'm not a huge telecaster fan, but I've been thinking about one a lot more lately
yeah? it's a pretty perfect guitar. i feel like once you go tele, it's tough to go back to anything else.
2 words: Roy Buchanan!
the one and only!

dang. good info!
Still waiting for the album to drop with all of your demo jams!
folks gotta stop sending me stuff to demo first! haha
Nice demo, my Custom has the fake Wide Rangers but I like it all the same, plays nicely.
Need 72 Thinline with two Cunifes from Fender.
yeah, let’s hope these p’ups don’t disappear again, eh?
Sounds great. Really enjoyed your demo.
hey, thanks! i appreciate you saying so!
Great playing...
Awesome guitar !!!
Tasty playing bro!
hey thanks! i appreciate it!
That recreated CuNiFe pickup sounds great, alright, but can we talk about that bridge pickup? Your outro was straight up old Walsh tone!
oh dude, yeah the bridge has some punch! all around great guitar!
nice playing and sounding
thanks for the kind words!
Turn on the lights. Great job by the way.
not gonna happen and i appreciate the props!
Damn you killed it in this video. nice job
hey thanks, lloyd!
Demos In The Dark is the track you played at the start available anywhere? Stuck in my head
no, i’m sorry. just something i cooked up for the video. glad to be an ear worm though!
outstanding !
thanks todd!!!
That vid was so dark I stubbed my toe laying down. Nah jk. Great vid man! Love norlin era and CBS reissues.
it's so dark i almost couldn't find the reply button! thanks, man! haha!

yeah, shaw knows his stuff! i just reviewed a gretsch that he designed the pickups for and, to no shock, they sound heavenly!
@@DemosInTheDark Shaw like Tim Shaw. No no no these are reissues of Seth lovers original pickups. Tim Shaw has nothing to do with them
@@bleufishtv They are repros but Tim Shaw over saw them.
From the Fender page. "Neck Pickup - Tim Shaw Authentic CuNiFe Wide-Range Humbucking"
Oh WOW! That sounds like something I should budget for. You need to stop doing demos until I have the scratch together. 😆
yeah, i'll just wait for ya. hahaha
Oh geeze
LOUISE!
I don't NEED another tele but...
dude, that wrhb with your big ass complex chord phrasings 🤤
This and your Bilt might make you unstoppable
The original 75 custom had rediculous layers of poly. When re coating from raw timber you only need 10 to12 coats instead of 20 odd.
didn’t know that!
Too Hot Lady, Kool and the Gang
Great demo btw but 1 thing can u change your channel to demos in the daylight so we can see 😂

What O.D. are you using?
the amp! benson amps monarch reverb
I do not need more things to lust after. 🤦🏽♂️ Do you have to give it back, Ryan?
i don’t! 😁
@@DemosInTheDark Bonus!!!!! 🙌🏼
totally! nice perk!
What color this is considered by Fender?
vintage cream
@@DemosInTheDark WOW looked like olive green!!
it’s dark. 😎
Is it me, or is the high E string almost hanging off the neck towards the neck joint compared to the low E string???
yeah, the neck was sitting in the pocket funny. couldn't get it to my tech till after filming.
They stopped using them because the plant that was making the magnets shut down.
